According to the OP. Two sides to every story and I can imagine this side has been exaggerated some what.

Yes, but if they felt they were angry and the person was giving threats (however silly/harmless) then it doesn't matter how someone else would see it. To that person they felt they were being threatened and they didn't like the other persons attitude.

Even if instead of shouting they were just raising their voice a bit, it's clear that the guys attitude was not good because if he was being nice and polite and smiling then there's no way it could be taken in a negative way.

It hasn't been exaggerated - there's no need to, and that's not helpful.

A threat of something other than violence is still a threat, and a lack of verbalised threat of violence is no insurance against said violence. Not that I'm saying I thought he was going to get violent - I didn't get that impression - but still, there was no call for his behaviour. I wasn't rude or argumentative with him - I simply said, oh, I actually asked for that to be posted. I would have gone to take the item at that point, had it been visible, but it wasn't.

Well would you look at that :p

perhaps if the op had posted all the information instead of withholding info again as for yet unknown purposes, some folk are allowed to call with deliveries but not others for no reason we know off, perhaps this thread would have no more that 3 or 4 posts.
That is very extreme, especially considering the cost of petrol and the problems that can come from delivering by hand. In what way have all delivery systems disappointed you?

Royal Mail may be more for certain items, but surely not more than the cost of delivering yourself and Royal Mail are generally very good.

not really your concern how much folk want to spend on fuel to deliver there goods, weather you find it extreme or not

You took that last post to mean something different, it had nothing to do with lack of information, it was that you misunderstood it.

We don't need to know their reasons, it's not important to the post. The guy still turned up unannounced after they said no, that's the point.

Did I say it was? I was just curious as to why they found delivering by hand to be better. Cost is a big part of selling - no business could survive if they all posted that way and it's unusual for people to do such thing.

My post to them anyhow is none of your concern. They choose to post on here and my response was directly to them. So if you don't care don't read it, don't reply, just move on. Are you really that bored that you're going to pick on each and every post?

By the way, wrong kind of weather/whether.

I don't think this is a silly thread, and I'm with the OP on this one.

I've had sellers turn up to deliver items. In one case, it was a collection only item that was BIN or best offer. I offered them £5 over the BIN price on the condition that they delivered it the eight miles or so I was away from them. They did, happily, after we discussed when it was mutually convenient for him to deliver.

In other case the item was only four miles away, and I suggested to the seller that I could pick it up the next evening when the buses were running past their house (it was late at night). About ten minutes later, they turned up with the item. I was a little bit nonplussed when I plugged it it (computer monitor) and it was dead (they had left), but after replacing a fuse it worked fine and continued to work since then. I was thinking that I would have preferred that they had told me that they were coming over before doing so. But not a biggie.

However, the OP's case is quite different. They had already said no to a personal delivery at that time, and it was very rude for the seller (or their representative) to simply show up anyhow. And for the person delivering to then become threatening is utterly unacceptable behaviour in my book. It could be that the husband wasn't told that the OP had said not to come over, but that doesn't excuse what happened afterwards.

It isn't exactly rocket science. If someone tells you not to go over to their house, don't go over to their house.

as I said I don't understand as we don't have the info, this thread is over posted due to speculation and withheld info its nothing to do with the weather, which again is another over reaction but nothing to do with this post

I think that there is ample information and detail on this thread to conclude that the husband coming over with the item and becoming threatening (raising their voice and being angry is sufficient) is unacceptable behaviour.

The question for me would be had you paid postage?

I won something a few weeks ago, quite surprised to get a knock on the door the following day and my item handed to me, especially as my seller was 100+ miles away. He was passing apparently.
Didn't bother me and I was pleased to get my item quickly, however, I was a bit teed off that I'd paid £10 P+P and the item wasn't even packaged!

In the end I let it slide, season of goodwill and all that.

. . and encouraged a dodgy practice. You obviously didn't need that tenner!

I understood it fine. I think we have all the information we need to know.

Ah, yeah. I put bid not big. Typical, the one time I make a typo. Still, I pointed out your mistake as up until now you're English has been decent and thought you may wish to correct it as it may confuse others (like if they read it as weather being extreme and affecting things). I wondered myself to start with if you were trying to make a different point on the weather and so reread it to be sure.

I don't mind you pointing out my typo, I'm happy to admit it wasn't right and now you've pointed it out I can correct it. Easy to make typos. No need for such remarks.

If that had happened to me, I would have messaged the seller suggesting that we split the difference on the P&P and that they refund me £5. And waited for their reply before leaving feedback and stars.
