Completely forgot about this thread! I have managed to get my 5k time down to 27.33 which I am really pleased about. It's a rare dry evening so i'm actually going out running tonight instead of going on my treadmill.
Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j
  • Really not been enjoying the heavy rain and high winds, but I've managed to keep getting out there. I'm on target for my distance goal, but think I may have fallen a little behind on the weight loss (not for want of trying).

For those of you who are working through couch to 5k (as I did), don't forget that every run makes you stronger (even, or maybe especially, the horrid ones) and that any run is better than no run. :T Definitely repeat weeks or have extra rest days, if you feel the need. There's no race to get to the end, and no-one knows your body and what it needs better than you. When you do complete it, you will be so proud of your achievement. :D

Last week was difficult. Hope this week is slightly easier.

Thanks for the motivational words! I confess I skived off on 2 of my 3 runs last week blaming the wind & rain but I really didn't feel up to taking on 60mph + gusts! I'm only 5'2" and just under 60kg so I don't put up much of a fight lol. Well done you for persevering though! :j I only want to lose about 6kg's and I'm not even bothering to weigh myself at the moment as I know the muscle gain will make any losses negligible, but I can feel some of my clothes getting looser.

I have been out today though (in the rain for the first time; I can excuse myself when there's wind and rain but not when its only the one!) and although my distance isn't increasing I did set another new personal record for my average pace.

  • I think I've covered 72M this month, am hoping for another 50 more in the next 10 days which is probably unrealistic, but we'll see! I was midway through a half marathon last week when I noticed my foot was pretty cold...my shoe had split in half, ironic, considering I had just been saying to my brother earlier about how well they had lasted. They've now been replaced with the cheapest things from sports direct I could find.
When do people run? I run in the evenings after work and around midday at the weekends, I'm not a morning person after all!

Am still trying to mix it up with a few "barefoot" runs every now and then, my God, you don't half get some weird looks, but I've found it much easier going on my knee. Hard on the calves though!

At the last race I did, there was someone running with no shoes on. It looked quite odd!

I tend to run in the morning. If I'm with club, it's evening and the odd afternoon run with my coach.

Runkeeper didn't log my time or distance tonight  shame cos it was a good run too :)

I've noticed that my body doesn't hurt any more after 5 minutes than it does at 3. That thought definitely kept me going tonight

Repeating last week again, doing 3 lots of run for 5, walk for 3. I found it easier tonight so when I go back out on Thursday, I'll try and push it up to 6 mins ready for the jump to 7 next week.

Oh, and I've taken 1m 48s off my mile time, which I am thrilled with :j

Edit- it took me an absolute age but I managed to manually log my run on runkeepers website :-)

I try to go 3 times a week (Mon, Weds & Fri) and almost always go just after I'm home from work, before I sit down and am tempted to not get moving again! Usually that's around 4:30-5pm the first 2 days and 3pm or thereabouts on Fridays. Like you I'm not a morning person and my weekends are far too precious to go running on!

Runkeeper has done that to me on a couple of occasions now, it's a really good job you can manually edit it online or I'd have given up on the app by now!

I'm really pleased with myself today, I nervously decided to proceed to week 4 of the couch to 5k podcasts and wasn't sure what to expect from myself. I'm pleased to say that by keeping my pace quite slow and steady I found it quite doable! :j

  • I Try to run Mon, Tues, Thursday and Saturday but one of these usually gets cancelled due to weather or working late.

I take my running gear to work, get changed in the train toilets on the way home like Superman and get off 1 stop early which gives me exactly a 3 mile run.

On a Saturday morning, I try to sneak in a 4 mile run, but as its winter only doing 3 at the minute.

Another 10k for me on Saturday. Hope it's a bit faster this time.
