Today I will do this - the start of something new
I must also sort out how to do a meal plan this is getting me down as every week I say I'll do it and every week I dont. I guess it will get left again as I dont know where to begin - how can I not decide on a months meals I do not know!, but never mind that - the jobs must now begin!

Hi Tracey, your not the only one - I'm always trying desparetley to get some sort of plan / system going, but always trying to be too perfectionist about it - ie trying to work out meals that use up same ingredients so no waste etc and make sure there's a variety / nutritional blah blah blah.

At the end of the day I'm sure your family get fed every day whether you have a plan or not (it's just that a plan makes us feel more organised & in control). Why dont you print off a calender from Microsoft or whatever you have with little boxes for each day and then each day jot down what you cooked then at the end of this month you'll have a rough plan for next month.
Or instead of trying to come up with a months worth just make a list of 14 meals and then repeat it for the next 2 weeks. There was a time when mums didnt have this problem because there wasnt so much choice or money, nowadays we think we have to be Anthea Turner/ Gordon Ramsey & Supernanny all rolled into one !!!!!!

I think us mums think everyone else is doing it better than us & have the perfect organised meal plan / home without even trying but if that was the case there would be no "Flylady".
Personally i'm now concentrating on "flying" everyday until one day I can look around the house(hopefully sundays) be happy with what i see and have achieved during the week and be able to sit down with a cup of tea & enjoy doing a mealplan instead of feeling pressured to do one - and in the meantime I'll just make it up as i go along !!!:D
The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow, For children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep. I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

Why is it that I cannot just clean something, I have to go mad and REALLY clean it. I have just spent over an hour cleaning the oven and before that an hour cleaning the washing machine and drawer. I even got a teaspoon out and covered it with a cloth to get into all the crevices. I now have a really clean washing machine and oven but the rest of the kitchen looks like a bombsite!

I bet that you, like me, are a perfectionist. I struggle with 'good enough' and try setting timers if it is a big job that will suck me in. I can always hear my mum's voice telling me that if I can't do it properly, don't bother. :(

The thing that has helped my perfectionist tendencies in cross stitch was hearing that a certain type of hand knotted, Middle Eastern rug always had a deliberate mistake, because only God is perfect. So while the odd missed stitch, or token swipe across the dust is not good, I comfort myself with only God is perfect. And I also comfort myself that when I am really, really going I can be relied on to pick up small details and I bet you can be relied on too.

Actually, really wanted to say, well done on getting the drawer and oven so clean. If you 'keep up to it' (I hate that phrase) then you will never, ever have to spend that long again.

    Good luck

    I'm wet again!!!!!!!!!!!!

ALL the schools are closed the buses are stopped so I had to go collect the children so off I went wading through 2 ft of water .. bear in mind I am only little!!! and I had my toddlers with me! I ended up with 3 in the buggy and the other 3 walking behind in a crocodile line.

The shops are all flooded and closed.. though some have the staff mopping and slopping the water back into the street.. somewhat futile IMO.

I have the oldest 2 on their way home one has caught the last bus but the other is wading and I can't get through to anyone on my mobile because the network is jammed with the sheer volume of calls being made. She is bringing a friend home too whose parents are not at home... I just thought though what her 3 brothers are doing??.. hhmmmm .. I may end up with an extra 4 lol.

My back drain is backing up and filling the yard.. thankfully we have raised concrete floors so can handle about a foot of water.. and here I am washing the kitchen floor!! MAD ME!!!

We are all snuggled in our PJ's now nice and warm and tiddles is in bed... she screamed ALL the way home from school because I put the raincover down and she hates it... then.. her eeyore got wet!!!! so we had hysteria.

flying then... half my kitchen floor looks cbeautiful.. the children asked if we are ahving a party because that is the only time it gets cleaned.. aarrrgghhh... puddle on the fire place is getting off... best go rescue it..

Oh.. I am a heroine too.. I rescued a snail from drowning.. it was desperately sliding away from a rapidly rising puddle so I put it on top of a sign board... it'll be fine up there 6ft off the ground! lol The children were really impressed with me! lol

well done on the snail Pigpen, I always rescue them too when I can. Can never bring myself to pick up a slug though.

Just emptied all the bins in the house, and the shredder.

Really bored - not used to being on my own all day but DH has had to stay in work for lunch as we have no car now. Sometimes I would get fed up with the break in the day, but I'm missing it now.

Pigpen where are you it sounds awful - still sunny here just the odd shower so decided to do my daily half hour gardening and pruned all my poor roses which had been wrecked in the rain.

OH has started on the garage and has at last identified the smell, which I have been telling him about for a couple of weeks. Me and DS2 kept saying that smells like something dead. We were right - it is hard to tell what it was - cat kill and hidden under the doormat into the garage (leads off the kitchen) and full of maggots:eek: Lesson learnt that garage is no longer to be a dumping ground. Off to school now to count all the drink left from the very wet school fete and get DS3.

Who has an AGA - one of you does sorry Pigpen I thought it was you.

Right - been quite busy with tv watching in between :D. I started off with some hot spot removing and threw out lots of mail, junk mail, shredding etc (I remove the plastic window and recycle the rest). Then I had to do the dishes, wipe the surfaces, dust, sweep/vacuum, have lunch, do dishes, mop floor, pull out appliances and clean under, and then I was tired out and had to sit at the PC.

Manic Monday - Kitchen and Dining Room
    Level One
[strike]Clean floors[/strike] Vacuumed and mopped kitchen and hall so far.
    Level Two
[strike]Clear and wipe kitchen surfaces [/strike] this was a bit grody - lots of crumbs under appliances :o
Clean cupboard door fronts and the front of appliances
[strike]Sort fridge bringing what needs using soon to the front[/strike] not much food in fridge but found some elderly yogurt that needed chucking!
    [strike]Wipe dining table[/strike]
    Level Three
[strike]Dust any extra furniture in dining room, checking for cobwebs on way round[/strike]
Wipe window sills, clean any marks off windows if required
Wash the washer drawer out if it's gunky needs doing - have mildew in there
Clean oven if you didn’t do it last week
    Extra Mission:
    Choose one or more of:
    • [strike]Wipe the outside of all your small appliances (kettle, toaster etc) [/strike]
    • Take a duster and wipe around the tops of your door frames – as many as you can manage in 5 minutes
    • Use a wire coat hanger and a duster to get down behind the radiator and get them bits you never normally reach I'm another with no radiators
    • [strike]Clean under small appliances and bigger ones if you can manage it[/strike] I moved the fridge and washing machine - the fridge was still fine from when I moved it a couple of months ago but the WM was awful underneath!
I have to put on one wash load, it's all towels at the mo, plus my mop head. I wash it after each use as it's a string one. I'm just waiting for hubby to wake from his afternoon nap and I will strip off the bed and put the sheet in with the other hot wash items. The kid's beds will have to wait till mid week.

I've got to go out in the rain soon and pick up my son, plus get some treats/dessert for dinner tonight :)
PS. I'm so sorry all those who are suffering with the bad weather have to put up with that. Here is not so bad (touch wood) despite the high downfall.

Didn't get round to mowing the lawn but that's nothing compared to what lots of people are going through!

Have also posted an eBay parcel, had a friend round for coffee, washed and dried two loads of washing and changed two beds (DS's wet one and ours as DD's tooth decided to come out in our bed resulting in blood everywhere - bless!!)

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, Pigpen. Hope it all stays in the yard.

It is raining bad here. Today has got a bit away from me. The kitchen floor could be worse. Unfortunately the living room is decorated in baby food :)

I love my DS. He decided that home made mushed parsnips were 'Gak' (I didn't know six month old babies could pull faces like that, or swear!) and now he has decided that Boots Bacon and Beans are also 'Gak'. At least the home made parsnip won't stain. :)

Roll on the teenage years when he is arguing over pizza!

Anyway, forty mins til DH gets home, and I want it to at least look like I haven't spent all day watching Tricia (and I haven't - DS is addicted to Baby TV and daytime it is either on that or off).

    Still thinking of you, Pigpen.

Oh Pigpen what a day, been watching on the news but didn't see where you are mentioned, hope everyone else is ok in other areas. Like I said we're lucky up here but parts of the area are flooded and the roads in and out of where I live are, someone said to me today 'If it gets any worse you are on call' as I've got a 4x4, hasn't got a snorkel tho, wish I'd bought one now. Had calls to remove trees etc before. Winds picking up here aswell as the rain, think we're in for a fun night.

Right with how good we are at getting powercuts in storms (it's been off twice today when it was pretty mild) plus the fact I have the assignment to do (even if by candle light) I've posted tomorrows list early. Just incase.

Hev sorry but Gak brought back some fun food memories from when my 2 were little :rotfl: I giggled a little when I read about that. Hope the stuff doesn't stain, my sister used tin stuff all the time and they stained badly.
One day I might be more organised...........
