Hello to all old and new (members that is, I am not going down the age route)

Been on school trip with DS3 today and was so lucky not to get wet - it started to pour within minutes of us getting back on the coach.

Eeeeek just remember I have brought the school guinea pig home and left him in the car as it was raining - must bring the poor thing in.

Have been useless at flying this week so may try to catch up a bit on the weekend.

Fleas we had them once, after we had been away - did you shut some of the doors in your house whilst you was away? We did and found that because they had not had access to the cat they had somehow got established in the house. Toys in freezer should work. We had our rooms sprayed and I can remember not going in the rooms until the stuff was dry - a few hours.

Right out tonight at kids football thing - usual military operation, drop one somewhere onto the next place, sharing lifts etc.

Think I'll have another cuppa, put the towels out to dry and tidy the kitchen, see you all later Dusty

PS thanks for you all posting your aliments - I too have IBS and the more I stress the worse it is. I am a real health worrier especially since my Dad died of Stomach cancer. I am sorry all of you are suffering but it did make me feel better to know these things are more common than you think x

    You are all super.

I just went into panic mode.

They must have picked them up either in the cattery, or perhaps because our grass is so overgrown. My fault as well as thinking about it, i don't think they have had a new flea collar in about 5months. I can't see any at all in the dyson, or on the fabric coated scratching post that they sit on. They probably got on Charlie from his head being at there level and them walking past cos he's always grabbing them.

I found quite a bit of dark stuff that looked like black grains of sands. Was on the dining table and laminate floor, and also in their coats, i wonder if that is eggs.

They are sat at the back door, and were having a good scratch and groom for a bit, but are now wanting to be back in, although i think they can stop in until the 6 hours the tablets say they take, and then they can be brushed before they come in.

Will treat everywhere either tonight, or tomorrow morning and then go out.

My only other dilemna now is my mongolian fur cushions. I think i may try sticking them through the WM on a handwash. It makes them look like they have been permed for a little while, but better than just binning them,

Thanks again folks. I haven't stopped since i was last on. Feel really itchy now though, and dirty. flaming cats are far more trouble than they are worth. I don't think i will have more pets after these 2 and there ecapades.

    A more chilled Michelle, x

the black grains of sand stuff is actually flea droppings.. it is basically dried blood.. if you wipe it up it will be red in the water.

    knew you'd like that!

Mongolian cushions are fine in the WM.. I often put the ones in which the girls have wee'd on.. not so goo din the dryer though (oops) and will need brushing.. the cat brush will be perfect!

mumoftwo... I have a dishwasher in my middle room.. if you can get it up there from down here you can have the flipping thing.. complete with warranty until December (it needs servicing!) but it is in full working order!

does it fit into my small fiat punto? :rotfl: Thanks for the offer though!! Why are you not using it? We had one in our previous house but left it for the new owners (well, sold it to them as it fitted into the kitchen) there wasn't really any room in this kitchen but since we have moved our washing machine and tumble dryer into the garage we have room!!!! my OH says it uses too much energy.

Pigpen - you have such an exciting life, power cuts, water cuts, floods.... And you bath cats! I once bathed 3 cats one after the other and swore I would never put myself through that again! (They got between the floor boards, and if you think that the carpet is dusty, well, just imagine what 100+ years of dust between floorboards will do to a cat's coat!) You should write an autobiography. I would want to read it!

Fleas I tried (as well as drops on cats and hoovering) putting those plug in nightlights on with a saucer of water & washing up liquid beneath. There was quite a haul at first, and the drops for the cats finished off the rest. Irritatingly, our cats don't go out - the fleas were, I think, brought in by the little girl next door whose cats did go out. Lavender oil works well on flea bites and is supposed to be a deterrent.

Maralum thank you for reassuring me. I am trying not to stress. DS is having a great time with all this new stuff. Egg custard with rice is not only not 'Gak!' but is also really, really nice to spread around :D Anyway, this morning he didn't want to know about the nice orange cereal, or the nice milk, polished off half a tin of banana delight for lunch and is about to have round two with some chicken and country vegetable :D

BTW no diet coke so far today. Struggling but determined. If I manage a whole month, I get a book I don't need but really want. What a load of stress over fizzy pop! :o

Would never have thought of a nightlight with a saucer of water, but we've had fleas brought in by people. I remember when DP worked for someone else there was another driver used his car and he was told he had them. One morning he went to get in the cab and it was bouncing with them. Needless to say he had a proper hissy fit and refused to use it, I ended up buying flea stuff as his boss refused.

In all honesty, they don't really bother me much. Part of life same as nits. **starts scratching** see the whole things psychological. No doubt I'll still check my dogs again tonight, they're all due to be treated aswell. Agree with the cushions, I just have to brush mine afterwards and it came up fine. Oh and yes black grains probably flea poop.

Hev, you're doing great, hope the headaches aren't too bad, I was just talking to a man in the shop today who was trying to come off pop, he said was like coming off cocaine or something as he was shaking and all sorts.

Mumoftwo I'm another one who hates washing but would struggle to get a dishwasher in I think. As for your partner, supposedly washing up by hand uses more energy in heating water etc than a dishwasher if they are one of the newer A rated or higher ones.

Wonder if you can wash cats in the dishwasher, that would save Michelle a lot of bother, I mean the washing machine would work but they'd come out a little dizzy I think  Maybe just swipe them with the Dyson.
One day I might be more organised...........

I got a new one.. because I couldn't be bothered to have this one serviced.. I know.. I'm bad.. it probably would fit in a punto they are quite roomy for the size.

Hev... I love bathing cats.. and we've had 2 under the floors in our 100+ year old house so i know exactly what you mean!!
