They can indeed - and they do! The pasta sauce and glitter combo is my personal favourite - never before have I used so much Vanish!0 -
Ha Nutella G has only just discovered glitter at our children's centre. That stuff gets EVERYWHERE!
Hope everyone's ok today? We've been to the park this morning, done a bit of packing and I've spent all of his 2hour nap sorting out changing over utilities and insurances etc for the big move. Suppose I should really wake him now, napping doesn't seem to have any effect on his nighttime sleep so its tempting to leave him to it and enjoy the peace...;)Newborn thread member

Sand is a fave of mine, gets everywhere!!! Also orange is a bit of a sod to get off too.

There's 25% off asda baby clothes for a day or too plus the rumoured 25% off sainsburys clothes might be starting today.
katiechoc I enjoy nap time too! Although I do worry it ruins the night sleep especially if the nap is too close to bedtime. I need the break as LO seems to need me more now for hugs and playing - he goes from 0 to shriek in about 2 seconds!
what did you find useful in terms of bibs? I've heard people recommend plastic backed bibs but they sound hard to wash and dry. I have a few standard cute ones that people have bought me.
LO is 5 months now and I feel like I need to get ready for a big change at 6 months. There's weaning and teething that are pretty huge - I have a highchair, bibs and some plastic spoons so far. If he learns to sit up then he can't use his bouncer chair or swing anymore so what do you use then? I'm going to use his travel cot as a kind of playpen for when I have to leave him for a few mins. I think toys are pretty much the same.0 -
For the first few months of weaning, I'd recommend coverall bibs. Food really does get everywhere, and you can just chuck them* in the washing machine.
Re. sitting up - I just left LO on a rug/playmat (we have this one - in use every day for well over a year now and still going strong) on the floor, and put my giant pregnancy pillow behind/around her so she'd land on something soft whenever she toppled over
* the bibs, not the babies.0 -
Agree on coverall bibs, although would still roll the sleeves up. No amount of bio powder and hot washes could cope with the cuffs on G's once he'd had a meal in them... Once LO is a bit bigger I liked the scoop ones, rubbery so just chuck it in with the washing up. G won't entertain bibs anymore, and goes nuts if you put a cloth on his lap too.Newborn thread member

We still use bibs at mealtime and thankfully LO is OK with that - they all use them at the nursery too, which probably helps. We now use these.
How's the packing going, Katie? I went to visit the owners of our house-to-be last night to talk through which bits of furniture they want to leave behind etc. I can't wait to move, but am trying very hard to contain my excitement until the contracts are signed (although mentally, I've already moved in!). Is it sad that two of the things I'm most excited about are a big utility room and a downstairs loo? :rotfl:0 -
Could I pop into your thread and ask if anybody here has pets and how they've coped with pregnancy/a new arrival?
We're at the pre-TTC stage but this is one thing that I've been thinking about a lot as we have 2 cats and 1 giant breed dog. Our dog is lovely but quite nervous with new people, and although he is good natured he's also very clumsy... steps on toes, can sometimes give you a whip with his tail when he's wagging. He's no puppy anymore but it's just as he's so big it's something that I'd have to try and work with carefully, whilst taking every single precaution possible.0 -
No experience with dogs but I have 2 cats.
As my cats are very friendly since LO was born they live in the utility room (we also have a cat flap so they can go out whenever they like), they always want to lie on people or sit on knees so couldn't risk them lying on LO. When she is old enough we will let them back in the house.0 -

Not too bad thanks, although starting to get a bit concerned it won't all fit in the van! Only really got the kitchen left to do then the every day bits as we leave, and clean through. And not sad at all - we're going to have a pantry, I'm excited about being able to take advantage of bogof offers at the supermarket:rotfl:
