amus oats are meant to be good for supply, so get OH down to the shop for some hobnobs and flapjack! Also you can make lactation cookies that are meant to work wonders for supply. I looked into them but was too lazy to make any, given that LO was 11 months by then. Which also coincided with him sleeping through so I wouldn't be surprised if that's whats affecting your supply too. And drinking plenty of water too.Newborn thread member

I agree with Katie, oats, oats, oats. Also over the counter meds motilium are the common name for domperidone which also helps.
Another thing to say is, as baby is more efficient at feeding your ability to express can dwindle. Not everyone can express well, but do you feel baby is unsatisfied at each feed? The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Hi all, hope babies are all behaving themselves!
Little miss is tucked up in bed with OH, DD1 and twins are being a pain and I'm so tiredhad to get up to get little miss in the middle of the night... then squeak woke up for a wee at 3am  and whilst I'm happy she's dry at night at 3 (my others were about 6 before they were reliably dry and one still sometimes wets now!) I'm now completely exhausted
Nursery here give a small amount of dry cereal at snacktime sometimes and they all seem to like it. I've been known to do it at home and it always goes down wellMum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Thank you so much for your advice on my lo waking for extra feeds (especially the one 2hrs after going down). Was about to try water and then for 2 nights he hasn't done it!!! He's only waking once again though that could easily change so I refuse to get excited!! A friend suggested hungry baby milk as he's a big baby (17ib at 19 weeks!!). I spoke to hv about it and she said it's exactly for situations like ours and that little man definitely sounds like he is hungry not just waking for sake of it. So we switched and he's waking once but we've basically been advised to wean now if the hungry milk doesn't improve things upto 6 months. He's still having middle of the night tantrums or giddyness (depending how he feels though). Last night I unzipped his sleeping bag to check his nappy wasn't wet and he chuckled his head off! Not what i want to hear at 3am though it is better than waking 3 times!!0

I really can't tell, as she sucks her thumb when she's hungry, but she sucks her thumb when she's full also! I change her nappy at 8.30am, 12.30, 5pm and 9pm and they're always full (wet).
She doesn't seem unsatisfied as such but she isn't a particularly hungry baby and she has to be really hungry before she'll bother to cry!! I Know she's hungry as she will take a full 5oz expressed bottle at 5pm, but she doesn't really cry for it, I give it as I know she needs it.
That's the only thing I hate about Bf, you can never be sure how much they're getting!!0 -
Morning ladies, sorry you had a rough night Delain.
Bangton glad to hear you're down to one wake up for the time being! Not trying to contradict yur Hv but please don't pin all your hopes for sleeping through on weaning early - it takes a long while (relatively speaking) until they actually eat enough solid food to keep them fuller than milk, in our experience anywayNewborn thread member

It's tough not knowing isn't it. just because you can't express a certain amount doesn't mean your body isn't producing enough for little miss. If she is still gaining ok I'd take that as a good sign but annoying if you need to express and your body won't comply.Morning ladies, sorry you had a rough night Delain.

I agree with Katie here, 4 month sleep regression can lead to what seems like weaning signs but it's actually just sleep being a pest. Generally speaking breast milk or formula has loads more calories than fruit or veg.
I hope the hungry baby milk does the trick. It's quite common and normal for babies still to wake in the middle of the night for feeds (probably not what you want to hear) but for some reason society and HV's seem to deem it unusual.
My 2 year old still wakes in the middle of the night sometimes because he's lost his water cup and needs a drink, it can be 5 times a night some times. I wish I could attach it to his hand!!The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Afternoon all, I'm going to try braving The Mall today! She's likely to scream the whole way there in the car, she hates the car, so I'll take the sling with me :)We've had a tough week as LO had her first cold
watching her struggling to breathe and being really scared was tough, but at least when she was crying she was breathing through her mouth and not her blocked nose. She's decided to share it with me though! So I'm now all snotty too, I expect the first of many germs she'll share.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend and LO's behave themselves xDiary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

We exchanged on our house today! Move next Friday :j:j:j CANNOT WAIT!
Although was a bit sad earlier - went to our usual softplay afternoon session, I took cakes for our table as I thought it would be our last day. 5 minutes from the end G comes up wanting me to go on the bouncy castle with him so I said "ok then, last time before it finished" and nearly cried when I realised it would be the LAST last time. Hope we find somewhere as nice, he loves it there.
Anyone doing anything for Vday? We're waiting til we move. Although I have got a bottle of wine on the go. Should probably be packing but...meh. We've got a weekNewborn thread member
