Hi ladies and Happy Birthday to your LO Gilly :)

Had a call from my manager this morning, after letting her know that I hadn't heard anything yesterday. So, I am now aware where I will be working on my return and will have my days for flexi-time confirmed by end of play today. Fingers crossed they can match my request (management trying to arrange a job share it seems).

The groups we go to are all free through the sure start children's centre, apart from the Music group we to, which is subsidised by the children's centre. I do pay for swimming lessons, but we do those at our local pool and it is the same cost as just going for a swim.
When A was little we did a baby massage course that we paid for; though it was almost a private course as it ended up being just me and one other mum!
Our groups are all just after lunch but A has screamed, slept, fed through all of them! All the babies have their days so don't let that put you off.

I've got the freezer fully stocked for DH to fend for himself whilst I'm away; need to teach him how to work the washing machine tonight! And I should really go and do some packing now... in a minute ;)
  • I had a better night last night because OH had him until 1 am. He then did his usual feed for a few minutes, fall asleep, wake up after 30 mins, want some more milk, fall asleep , wake up.... I got him out of bed at 9 and he was shattered bless him. He had a 2 hour nap in the morning and has now fallen asleep again. He's only sleeping through in his bouncer chair - but I don't want him to spend so much time in it. I think we'll do the same except OH might give him back earlier as he gets up for work at 5am.

I go to lots of baby groups and I only pay for swimming at a fiver per lesson. Baby yoga is at a sports centre so it's included in my gym membership. There's lots of groups in sure start centres - I go to stay & play and have started 'jolly babies' where you sing for an hour. I go to baby cafe for breastfeeding support every week.

How about posting an ad on netmums to try and meet other mums in the local area? I think libararies also hold story sessions which can be good. Community centre sometimes do playgroups too. How about going to the library for a change of scenery and just reading books to LO there?

I'm afraid i have to go against the flow there!! Hubby here is excellent and full hands on with C. Everything is 50/50. He has done since Charlie was born. On work days, he does evening nappies and bath time, I do morning nappies and getting ready for work/nursery.

I'm not at all jealous. Not one bit :p
  • End of last week I signed up on netmums and already am in contact with a few people, so be nice if something comes from that.

I was all excited when my LO was a few weeks old to receive a library card for her and a piece of paper with sessions running at the library and it also told me how many books I could get out and that they don't charge for damaged books for under 5's etc etc.

I couldn't wait to feel better and pop along to the library......BUT then I read in my local paper that the library was closing just before Christmas for refurbishment and not re opening until May.

Well OH has been pretty good this afternoon. I finally managed to put all of LO's things into her keepsake box and put things away properly in our bedroom rather than them just being put down somewhere. I even managed to ignore her crying and let him work out what to do even though I was very tempted to take over.

  • We've not made it to any baby groups yet but we're usually out and about a lot so I don't mind much. We have lots of great children's centres here so once LO is fully better we're going to start going to a few sessions. He was in hospital last week with bronchiolitis so we're still trying to get rid of his cough and building up his feeds again. The cough's really died down but he's throwing up a lot of mucus from the back of his throat, poor little thing.
I can tell he's getting better though, he keeps batting my hands out of the way when I'm feeding him and trying to hold the bottle himself. He's determined to do things himself, he keeps trying to sit up on his own as well.

Tiny, sorry to hear your LO's been poorly :( Sounds like he's a determined little thing though, so I'm sure he'll be back to his normal self before you know it x
