  • Aww scarlett is gorgeous! Is that the play mat with a piano at the end? We have that one!

That's the one. She loves it. To begin with she just just liked watching herself in the mirror and smiled when she saw her feet touch the piano.

Was going to try out another group this morning but it was at 9:15am and Scarlett was having her bottle at 9am and now she's napping, it finishes at 11:15am.

I find most groups are always in the morning and always around 9ish and that's roughly the time Scarlett wants her 2nd bottle/short nap. Wish some were in the afternoon or just that bit later in the morning.

Hope everyone has a nice day. If the weather improves will get out for a walk but it's currently raining...

  • gorgeous piccy Continual, we are all so lucky to have such gorgeous babies!

I'm thinking of getting a pacapod rucksack when LO is weaning so I can carry food and bibs with me.

Bangton I found out I was pregnant on 30th Jan last year, how things have changed! Hope you got more sleep last night.

Nutella I am really not looking forward to tantrums, LO has an amazingly loud scream even now!

I had a major meltdown/angry moment at OH yesterday but didn't say much. I said I only had 2 blocks of 1.5 hrs in the night and complained that he was going to have a 3 hour nap in the afternoon after having a uninterupted block of 8 hours in bed in a seperate room. I think he knew. I went to exercise class, had a shower and went straight to bed without saying anything. He brought LO up for a feed at 9 and took him back down (LO must have slept in bouncer chair), then bought him back up at 1am and left him with me - so I had 3.5 hours uninterrupted hurrah! Too bad I had to reach near burnout for him to do that.

    Happy birthday Gilly lo :)

We had a really good night last night, but OH isn't talking to me now. Bed for 9:45, feed at 12 except oh me to say lo was breathing funny. I snapped at him as I've explained so many times that newborns are congested and their airways are so tiny that it sounds worse than it is. He stropped off into the spare room then decided 30 mins later to try to have an argument with me. Told him he's making me second guess myself by asking me the same thing over and over. I don't think I'm very good at being woken up on very little sleep. He went off abd slept back in spare room. Lo woke up at 3:45 and 7 so best nights sleep I've had from her since she left hospital :)

benice how was your night? Up twice for me but not too bad as only wanted feeding and oh covered the early hrs feed so I'm as fresh as I ever will be with a lo. I found out I was preg on 31st January. Real shock as we weren't trying. Glad he's here though however hard it gets! cd I'm exactly same with baby groups. I just can't make it for that time between feeds/clingyness/naps and trying to have a shower. Then nearest one is 40minutes each way to walk to when I don't have car. I really need to meet other mums. I have baby massage now on Friday but that's still really it. Went to baby sensory but wasnt keen. It was an hour session with 25 minutes free play (basically sittt in corner with lo with same toys we have at home) and 7 sessions were 65 which I felt was a lot for what is essentially 35 minutes of sensory time ( and it started late!!!)
  • Crikey, I wouldn't be keen on *paying* to go to a baby group!! I am spoilt as round here (rather unglamorous area of greater Manchester) all the council stuff is free or low cost. People often turn up late to stuff and I am not the only one whose baby cries, so I wouldn't let lateness or grumpiness alone put you off. I also always bring a feed with me and have no hesitation in interupting the activity if LO seems hungry. I would encourage anyone to give things a try rather than stay at home worrying about being late/inconvenient etc. What's the worst that could happen?

I know it sounds silly but you've all just cheered me up that your OHs are similar to mine. I thought yippee it's the weeked he'll do more of the nappies and help out, he has done less than if it were a week night, to the point I stopped talking to him today. Men are obviously just clueless.

I'm afraid i have to go against the flow there!! Hubby here is excellent and full hands on with C. Everything is 50/50. He has done since Charlie was born. On work days, he does evening nappies and bath time, I do morning nappies and getting ready for work/nursery.
And thank God he does, Charlie is becoming a nightmare to put nappies on. Katie I may need to invest in some pull ups too!!

  • Valid point Oscar. I think for me I hate being late even though you're not actually late because it's just 'play', but it's hard to get my head round that as I'm on time person or early person for that matter.

I guess because most of them are only for 2 hrs I like to get the full time out of the house/with other mums. The one I go to on a Friday starts at 9:30am and I always manage to arrive between 9:30 - 9.45, so not too bad and I stay until 11:30am just as weaning starts.

The groups I go are all free, though was looking this morning on netmums and found some others but they charge.

I do baby yoga which I pay for. Not too bad though as was £45 for a 6 week block and it's an hour session and the whole hour is actually yoga, 10 mins at the end is relaxation and most of the babies are ready for that.

Managed to get out for a walk, would of been out longer but it started to rain, typical. But did get out for 30 mins and had the dog with me as well so that's always interesting.

Hubby is home early from work so that makes a nice change as fingers crossed will get time to do other things that need doing round the house. Got my parents & sister arriving on Sunday from Australia, they haven't met Scarlett yet and this is the 1st grandchild/niece for them. They're here for all of February so for the 1st time in 11 years I get to spend my bday with them all as well as my sisters.

The only things I pay for are soft play and swimming now - I did go to a play group that was £1.50 a time and pretty good but G just didn't seem to like it. A lot of the kiddies were 3-4 and it got pretty rowdy. And jeez a 4 year old in a cosy coupe can get some speed up! I prefer the Sure Start centres, personally.

We went to soft play this morning - the one near us has a huge bouncy castle so we spent most of the time on that :D
