  • Isn't it just always the way that when you need to be up/out early, LO decides to sleep in.....

Wanted to leave here at 8:30am to get to my friends for 10am. LO was fast asleep by 6:45pm, earliest we've had so it didn't surprise me when she woke at 4:30am for a bottle. She soon fell back to sleep after it, roughly about 5:15am so I thought no need to set the alarm I'm sure she'll wake again at 7-7:30am.

Hubby wakes me up at 8am in shock at the time and LO is still fast asleep. So rush rush rush to get everything sorted and she woke up at 8:15am. Needless to say it was nearly 9am when we left.

LO has had 37oz of milk today though. Before we left at 9am she'd had already had 12oz and then once at my friends for 10am she had 15oz in the 3hrs we stayed. She didn't nap once whilst at my friends, never had her stay up for that amount of time before either she normally she had short bursts of like 15-20 min naps.

She slept all the way home though. Think I'm looking at a growth spurt when I next get her weighed.

Came on here mainly to ask if anyone can recommend a changing bag? I've got 3 but they were all free (1 came with the pram, 1 when I bought some nappies & another when I bought some grobags) and I've tried each one now but they just aren't big enough for what I take, especially cos I bottle feed so took 3 bottles and 3 cartons of milk with me today and ended up using 2 so good job I had 1 left just incase.

CD I'm so jealous! I'd love such a lie in right now! Lo is getting hard to settle at night as he heads for 4 months old. Went to have him weighed today and there were two other mums there who said their babies were same so perhaps it's a 4 month thing. Whatever it is I'd rather like it to stop as I do worry that something is not ok with him. Oh is amazing at settling him though..! Fingers crossed we have a good ish night....and same for everyone else. Big hugs for those whose babies are up all night...It's no picnic!!!
  • I have heard good things about pacapods, which are supposed to be pretty roomy. Mine is a Cath Kidston one - I really like it but I travel pretty light and don't take more than 2 bottles out at once. I still have plenty of room for purse, phone etc but it's sometimes a struggle to find my keys: would be great if it had a little key dongle clip like one of my other bags has.
  • Bangton have you heard of 4 month sleep regression? It's worth a google - my LO had it, and it lasted a fair few weeks, but I found it reassuring that it was a known 'thing' and lo and behold she is now sleeping through again (naps are a different story, she still naps poorly, but I've adjusted my expectations and treat them as a bonus if they happen rather than relying on them).

    I've been Money Tipped!
LOL, always the way CD. This is our baby bag. Basically a rucksack, we bung everything in it, although don't carry bottles, but would be plenty big enough.

Bangton, look up 4 month sleep regression, very enlightening, and reassuring, knowing it's a recognised phase means that there is an end to it!

  • I've also heard that Bangton re a 4 mth thing. My LO is 4mths old in 2 weeks time so I keep telling myself that she suddenly might change her ways.

My LO has just gone down, so again totally different from last night, has stayed up an extra 2 hours tonight. Though we did have to do unplanned bath as hubby had one very filled nappy to change that resulted in LO in a mess. She does love her baths though and then we massage bedtime cream onto her which just totally relaxes her.

Thanks Oscar, will have a look.

I think I probably 'over' pack cos I'm always worried I'll get caught out. As we were out from 9am till roughly 3:30pm I took 3 of everything but never needed to change her clothes so 3 outfits (just babygrows) and 3 vests were obviously taking up unecessary room.

I *love* my Pacapod rucksack, but if I had another baby I'd probably buy one of their bags too. They're fab :D
  • Big thanks for the pacapod recommendation. I looked on ebay 1st but then went onto the actual website and clicked on the 'Almora' section but did take a big gulp at the £80 price, however one of them is in the sale for £48 and actually really liked the pattern so have ordered it to see what I think rather than take the risk with a second hand one off ebay and not like it.

  • Hi Ladies,

Thought I would say hi, now things are starting to calm down...
Our little girl Paige finally arrived on 13.01.14, she's our second daughter.
Our first is five and at school, just wondering if anyone else has/had the same age gap and how they coped with the school run and trying to get baby breastfed without being late for school. Husband is back to work Monday morning so will have to do the school run with little one in tow :-(
    Perfect princess arrived 13.01.14 :):):)
  • Hugs Rummer I remember that feeling, luckily they don't keep coming and you do fall into your own (babies) routine soon enough.

Hugs to you too Bangton. I haven't driven yet with Jack in the car as I think I'd be more nervous than I normally am (passed last March in a snazzy brand spanking new little Fiesta and find our big old Mondeo a bit scary... only driven about 3 times since I passed).

kerri I think you've been quite brave. I don't have the same surname as Jack as we registered in OH name... however if he had my surname he would be a bit too close to being a Jack Russell (not my surname, but close enough for the wise cracks) which may have played a part in it :D! At least at the DR you can change it really easily.
At the birth when you register even if you did it in his name you would still have to re-register if you both married (pretty sure that is what they told us on the day). I find it a bit sad not having the same surname though, as my OH, Jack and my OHs son all have the same surname and then there is me dallying around the house.

Did anyone else find it odd you didn't have to a) bring the baby or b) prove you had a baby... when registering the birth? Long-term identity fraud right there...

As we're on about changing bags - can anyone recommend a nice *smaller* bag? I think I'm a 'chance it' packer as I don't seem to take a lot out with me (but I ebf which saves room of course). My one was a free gift with a vertbaudet purchase and in the words of my would-be MIL it is 'awful, something OH sister wouldn't be seen dead with'.
