My LO was at least four months old before she'd sleep in the basket/cot by herself during the day. I resorted to having cuddly afternoon naps with her in our bed - I didn't get any housework done, but that bit of extra sleep kept me sane in the early days.
I think my LO is cuddly by nature though - at 20 months she still loves sleeping in our bed (ideally with her head on my pillow and her arms wrapped around my head!) and sitting on my lap.0 -
Sorry mini muffin, Thomas is 8 weeks.
I do that most mornings Nutella. Thomas can sleep for hours on my chest with me propped upright. I also get a sneaky few hours in too!DS born November 2013 :smileyhea0 -
Saffa my OH can cuddle my LO to sleep and I can't... my HV said it is because I smell like the baby equivalent of a chip shop... even though he isn't hungry, once he smells me - he fancies a bit.
Never have I felt so glamorous.0 -

Evening all ladies,
Great to see new faces, congrats to all and welcome.
Not really got much to add, have been to a parent and toddler swim session today and had my first baby signing class on Friday. Decided in going to make these two our get out of the house things!
Lo has been sleeping in our bed a lot recently, it started because of him being unsettled with a new tooth but then I've started to get really clingy with lo (isn't it meant to be the other way round?) and now I want him in bed or I'm worrying over him all night.
Vic (I think it was) don't be so hard on yourself, babies love cuddles and warmth and to hear your heartbeat. If you can steal moments to do the washing up or whatever then do but don't punish yourself if all you've done all day is cuddle. You will get time to tidy the house, maybe tomorrow maybe the day afterjust enjoy the small person first.
I can't believe my lo is less than two months off his first birthday! I don't know where the year has gone. I get reminded of the beginning very time a new lady joins this thread because I remember saying the same things. So trust us ladies we've been through it!
Also can't remember who said it but feeding on demand with formula, my lo over fed, because of reflux, I thought at the time it was just feeding on demand but he was having 10-20ml every hour, because of reflux so please watch out for symptoms.
Not forgetting (I'm sorry I can't remember names I'm on my phone) someone asked about reflux, not all symptoms affect everyone. My lo would arch his back and you could see he was in pain (dr said it was colic!!!) he would bring up a lot of milk after feeds and all day long! He would bring up acid (I could smell it) BUT he was a fantastic sleeper! Nothing really worked for us, we tried gaviscon with no luck, we tried stay down milk (sma, aptimil reflux) and my lo spent about 4 months pushing out really hard rabbit poos! Which all the ladies will remember, because I only ever seemed to come on and say about poos! However if any of you need support just let me knowNewly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!0 -
Thanks both. I adore him sleeping on me but worried that the longer he does it for, the harder it will be for him to sleep in the day without me. I've tried swaddling and holding him for the time it takes for him to be properly asleep. I put him down about 15 mins ago and just had enough time to go to the loo and get a drink in the time before he woke crying again
Mine still won't go in cot at 16 weeks! He has his morning nap on me for 2 hrs while I watch catch up tv! Then he'll have a nap in pram on an afternoon but I tend to have to go walking for 15-20 minutes till he falls properly asleep. For a couple of weeks he decided to have three naps a day and he'd have them all in pram (which I reclined back to flat) and i wouldn't have to actually go anywhere but now he's clingy again. If I had any advice I'd use it myself but just wanted to say your not alone, it's so common and it seems to be boys in particular. I have just worked with it and found ways to get things done quickly! I let him play on his playgym or watch his mobile for 30 minutes while I pick things up and polish or clean bathroom (anything involving chemicals etc). Then I use carrier to carry him around while I hoover and he tends to nap for 30 minutes buying me an hour for chores!!!0 -
Thank you to all who have replied. You've made me feel so much better and I won't beat myself up about not doing the dishes/ironing/hoovering if little man demands cuddles. It doesn't help that DH brings so much work home that the days merge into the evenings. I don't feel that I have a second to myself, and when I do I rush around doing all the little jobs.DS born November 2013 :smileyhea0

Aaaaah yes. The decision of which of the 15 jobs that need doing, can be done in such a short period of time. It does get easier, but more that I can do more jobs when T is awake than getting more done during his naps.
Nutella ... Mine, mine, mine! Like on Finding Nemo
Hope everyone well.

On jobs that need doing, I always have a priority list ready in my head, so whenever I get a moment to do something, I don't waste valuable seconds trying to figure out what to do. 'Going to the loo' usually features near the top of that list!0

Saf, been meaning to say that you were right about the mystery nappy with seahorse & elasticated waist - it did indeed come from Sainsbury's. We now have two large packs of them :T0
