    I've been Money Tipped!
Oh MrsH, a part of me was relieved by your nipping, biting, scratching question, we're still going through that phase! T tries it mostly if he's tired, grumpy (or had a poo!) basically if he's bored and wants attention. It's always a quick no and then if he seems to go back for more he's out in the hallway for 60 seconds. It also works to play sad and he's then sorry, comes and gives us a cuddle. Attempts it a lot less often with us now at home, but still has a go once a week or so at nursery (noted by the signing of a form... uh oh!)

Been there with the smacking, not been through a biting stage yet! Agree with Sunshine and the need to be consistent with your reprimands. Poppy only ever hit me and apparently it is very normal for toddlers to hit the person they are closest to as they are testing the boundaries if that makes you feel any better! Think it's a perfectly normal stage that most toddlers go through, much like the tantrums but remember it doesn't last for ever and you come out the other side.

Hope you're feeling okay Sunshine and the sickness isn't to bad. Ice lollies and chocolate cereal was my diet for the first 3 months! Find something you can stomach and stock up! X

  • Day 1 of putting lo in "time out" when he attacks (previously not literally haha) and he got it after the second time, now he knows if he hurts mummy he must say sorry and he actually went to smack me, I looked at him and he re thought about it and withdrew his hand haha.

I know he'll try it again another day but I think the shock of me putting him in time out for a minute made him realise it won't be tolerated. It actually made me feel in control, rather than just feeling like I'm just telling him off all the time.

You would all be proud :)

Awww glad to hear that Mrsh, the little monkeys are hard work at times. My little ladies latest trick is putting her hands down her throat so she throws up when I tell her off - lovely!

Well done you :D The threat of time out is usually enough here - LO hates the naughty step and it's rare that we actually have to follow through with it these days. Once it's mentioned she'll often start talking herself out of whatever she's doing - 'I need to listen to mummy - don't do that, not nice!' :rotfl:
  • Hi ladies, haven't been on for a while. Anyone got any holiday recommendations for an 18mo-2yo (depends when we go)?
  • Yay mrs h :) fingers crossed it's a phase but at least if not you know you can handle it!!

Jannine, sounds challenging with your LO! Funnily enough my sisters LO does that if he doesn't want to eat his tea! I am okay thank, struggling to find any food I want to stomach. I really enjoyed some soup I had at lunchtime today but now the thought of it makes me heave for some reason. It's making it very difficult to plan what to get out the freezer in the morning!!

Any tips from any of the lovely ladies on here would be hugely welcome!

A has a new favourite dance here, if anyone watches Ben and Holly....imagine the dancing they all do with the bent arms and hunched over backs - that! He loves it!

Sunshine, I don't really know what to suggest re. food - I've never been able to predict in the morning what I want to eat in the evening even on a normal day, never mind in pregnancy! :o I survived on white toast and margherita pizza for the first couple of months (with the odd ginger biscuit thrown it - I've never liked them, but they made me feel less sick) as they were the only things I could face eating....

Can you microwave in the evening so you don't have to make a decision in the morning?

Ahh thank I'll try a ginger biscuit.

I could micro to defrost but I don't really like doing that, I usually just have something out to defrost. To be honest I don't think it would make much difference anyway, most things tend to make me a bit queasy at the moment so it may be OH has to take over all the cooking :)

We had a water leak tonight :( luckily the boiler is on warranty so they will be out in the morning to replace the valve. Annoying though as we have no water now! Had to do a trip to my mums and fill up lots of plastic bottles!

Oh, and I also ate plain cream crackers. I kept them next to my bed and couldn't physically face getting up until I'd eaten one!

That's so rubbish re. the boiler :( Glad it's on warranty though - hope you get it sorted tomorrow x
