    Hi ladies :)

A was fine by Saturday evening and completely back to her usual energy filled self yesterday - if it wasn't for her not eating quite as usual you'd never know.

I have a question, how do you cope when you're not well but have LO to look after? Yesterday I felt like I'd been hit by a bus and just had to lie down, but A didn't understand this "game" I was playing and as OH couldn't leave work I had no one who could watch her for me. We ended up doing quite a bit of cbeebies, colouring and me encouraging her to read her books to her "baby".

    Hope that everyone is well

Morning all :) Hope everyone is well. I'd like some opinions please! LO's room at the nursery (for 2-3 year-olds) have made a remembrance day display. There's a big poppy made from scrunched up tissue paper and paper soldiers that they've coloured in, using brown and green paint. So far, so good. But then.... some of the soldiers are holding little plastic guns, which I think is completely inappropriate. There's no way 2-3 year-olds understand what remembrance day is all about - to LO it's just a big flower and some people wearing helmets. I've always been strongly against toy guns and anything that 'normalises' weapons, but I'm wondering if I'm overreacting in this case? What do people think? I didn't say anything to the nursery manager this morning as I wanted to think about it, but it's bothering me... Opinions would be much appreciated :)

Saffa, glad your LO is feeling well again.
Nutella, I feel the same as you about toy guns/ weapons and get annoyed when they are in kids films etc. I don't know whether I would mention it at the nursery or not having not got baby started at nursery yet it's so difficult to know how I'd feel... Sorry not a very useful response.
Been into work today to talk about Return to work (mid feb) and going part time, all positive but not confirmed yet. I went with baby and hubby and we went to the Tower of London poppies as well and had a long (chilly) walk, all in all a lovely day :)

In all honesty, I don't know if I would mention it but I certainly don't agree with it. In their defence they could say it is all part of the learning about remembrance day, however I do agree they wouldn't understand it one iota being so little.

I would be minded to maybe drop the manager an email and explain your concern and make a suggestion that next year they remove the guns from the display. If it's bothering you, you should raise it. I had a very minor issue at nursery with A being in the baby room at pick up time, I was over analysing it but I did raise it and was so glad I did. I had two phone calls from the manager to make sure it had been resolved and a conversation with his key worker and room leader about it. It defiantly put my mind at rest.

I hope you do whatever you feel is right.

Saffa - we do TV days if I'm not well or too tired, and books and the like that I can do while moving as little as possible!

I don't think I'd be happy with the guns either. It's hard to pitch remembrance right for small children though, they won't really get it.

I've had it agreed to go back to work at the start of February, which seems a long way away but I have a funny feeling will roll around very quickly. I'm waiting for confirmation in writing but I'm also changing my days around and slightly shortening my hours and work were fine with all of it :)

Yesterday I had our tickets come through for the 'Santa special' which is a ride on a steam railway with Santa waiting at the end to give presents to the children. Not actually my idea of fun but MIL desperately wants my daughter to go. I must admit I'm really looking forward to Christmas this year knowing that she will start to get all the magic of it!

Just popping on briefly as meant to be working to say HI! And Crabapple, we used to go on a Santa Special every year, in North Yorks and it is AMAZEBALLS. Honestly. She'll love it. I'm thinking about it but last time I looked it was so danged expensive it put me off. Still, got the panto all booked and got the first of the crimbo shopping done thanks to the Argos 3 4 2.

Anyway, back to work, hope all are well :)
