MrsH - good luck! :) I can empathise - we had almost a year of OH and I sleeping in separate beds. Any reason why he's still in your room? I'm asking because I'm finding that the older my LO gets, the more likely she is to wake up whenever there is any kind of sound near her, including me turning over in bed whenever she's staying with me... She was doing fantastically well at staying in her own bed all night, but we've regressed recently as a result of her having a bad cold and feeling a bit rough and just wanting cuddles, and I've really noticed how little it now takes for her to wake up :o You might find that he sleeps better in his own room.

My LO still has the sides on her cot bed, but I agree with the bed guard suggestion - we have one (this one) due to the amount of co-sleeping we've been doing - but for tonight I'd go with good old cushions on the floor. Keeping everything crossed for you x

On lovely proud moments, A has been doing my hair tonight :) he pretends he is a barber and brushes my hair and says 'that looks nice!' He then brushes off my shoulders and pretends to give me a lollipop. Sooooo sweet :)

That's very cute - love the lollipop at the end :D

We're starting to get some seriously challenging tantrums here - uncontrollable screaming and lying on the floor. She's a feisty little thing! :o The other day she sneezed and I didn't say 'bless you' quickly enough and she told me off: 'NOOOOO mummy! Not nice! BLESS YOU!' :rotfl:

The nursery had a visit from the fire brigade today. The highlight for LO was that she got to try on a helmet; she was talking about it non-stop this evening :)

Be Nice and MrsH (and everyone else!), hope you had good nights?... :)
  • Morning all, we had a meltdown at 11 when he realised he wasn't allowed in bed but I got him back to sleep by gentle coaxing and reminding him of his beautiful new duvet :) then he slept just as well as normal (few dummy requests) until 5:45, where I then allowed him to come for cuddles. Very happy at the result though. One down.... :)

Well done, I think that counts as a success :)

Well done MrsA. Baby sleeps in his own room but I still feed to sleep and know at sometime I'm going to have to get him used to settling himself. He naps in his buggy most of the time too so I need to do some daytime naps in the cot as a start perhaps...

We're doing ok, finally feel like we're getting Baby into food, really swallowing now (he's been chewing and spitting out for months!) as evidenced by a few very different nappies! I think he's suffering with his teeth again as he was all about milk and cuddles yesterday. Our latest milestones: been crawling a few weeks, just worked out this week how to go from all fours to sitting up, and clapping!

Having a worry about a wedding we are invited to in December without Baby. He will take a bottle and my parents are happy to sit, so that's positive. However unless his weaning steps up a bit I'm going to struggle with not feeding him all day as he's mostly breastfed. What's the norm at 10.5m? Still having milk through the day? It'll all change before we get there so I shouldn't worry too much, just depressed at the idea of hiding in the loos with a breast pump during a wedding.

Oh dear! We have defiantly been there with the tantrum situation. We seem to have eased out of the uncontrollable screaming ones, for now anyway! Although it still is that tint little things set him off. And they are so unpredictable aren't they?! A used to love it when OH pretended to be asleep on his pillow before it was story time, used to laugh his little head off.....but last night, he did not like it and had a melt down saying no daddy, that my bed, you sleep in there (pointing to our room) :o

Lovely about the fire brigade visit :) it's so lovely to hear about their days and see that they enjoy it so much. Helps to justify the fortune we pay to send them there hey?!

Mrsh, well done on night one. Fingers crossed you have some more positive ones.

Fran o, my LO was bottle fed but at 10.5 months he was on a small bottle when he woke around 6 am, followed by breakfast and a mid morning snack, lunch and a small bottle around 2.30, afternoon snack followed by tea and a bigger pre bedtime bottle. I recall he dropped the afternoon bottle at 11 months ish. Every baby is so different though so it's best not to compare too much, just go with what works for you and from the sounds of it weaning is starting to come along really well x x x

    Hi ladies :)

G would have LOVED a fire brigade visit Nutella, lucky LO! Although one randomly parked outside mil's a while back so we ran out with him to see it, they were so nice and offered to let him sit in but he got all shy and ran away!

We went to Goose Fair last night, took G so he was really late for bed, was nearly 10pm when we got back! He loved it though, went on a little roundabout on his own for the first time and we all went on the big wheel. Got him a minion helium balloon which he took great pleasure in beating me about the head with this morning :D

    Hi Ladies :)

I am finding managing the house, A and work a struggle some days, well, on the days I work hence not posting all too often.

MrsH that sounded like a success! We've had much better nights this week; well she's slept an average of 11 1/2hrs a night every night this week which has been wonderful :D Even more so as on Wed had one of my brother-in-law's and his girlfriend over for dinner and yesterday was our anniversary so my mil and 2 sil's came to babysit whilst OH and I went out. It was the first night that both us went out for dinner since A was born 17months ago! Hehe OH was more concerned than I was about her disturbing ;)

I still feed A to sleep and no one else can settle her if she wakes in the night. We did have one success with self-settling last week much to our surprise - she had been up since 3am and by 5am I had had enough so put her in her cot, in her room, and shut the door. She cried for 30seconds and fell asleep... I couldn't believe it! During the day I get her to nap either in the car or in the buggy. Nursery get her to nap on a campcot/mattress about 10cm off the floor - I don't know how they do it!

fran-o, A was very variable at 10months with regards how much she ate and how much milk she was still having; it did rather depend on how she was - teething/ cold etc. Mostly 3 - 4 times a day though she was still having milk.

A has been so cute the past two afternoons - taking a "phone" and marching up and down the living room chatting to someone. She's also taken to changing her doll's "nappy" and is currently sitting on the sofa reading "Old Macdonald had a farm" (complete with animal noises) to her doll. Just love listening to her

    Have a lovely weekend everyone

  • Hi all
yes we had two good nights so no teething pain I think. Nursery have just pointed out that the tooth has just cut through so LO now has 2 teeth hurrah! OH has been really poorly so I've been trying to do more childcare and less exercise classses. This weekend I'm out lots so I need OH to get better and looks after LO!

Oh dear Nutella, no advice just sympathy here. I'm gonna start reading a book called 'how to talk so kids listen' so I'll let you know if it makes sense.

Fran-o at 10.5m, I think one morning BF and evening BF should be fine. LO will just get more milk from you when he sees you again if he wants it. Weaning can change very quickly in a matter of weeks too. Just express if you find you're full & engorged to avoid mastitis.

MrsH glad you're winning the battle x
