Thanks for putting my mind at ease re presents. Knowing my luck she'll be more interested in the paper and throwing it around, lol.
LO has started playing peek-a-boo now. After a bath when she's wrapped up in her towel on her changing mat, she'll take a bit of the towel over her face and go 'aaaaa' to which she then pulls it down and I say 'boo'. Amazing what they suddenly decide to do themselves.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
Sainsbury's 25% off clothing is back - ends Monday0

We can't do Lego yet (annoying since we have tonnes of it stored from our own childhoods) because of the age gap - it occasionally becomes an issue with things like that so we'll be on Duplo for a good while longer I think.
Main things the pair are getting from other people for Christmas are Happyland, wooden train set bits and Duplo and whatever random unrequested thing my MIL decides the kids MUST have.
Was going to get Erin a balance bike but I think with her birthday being early April it's a present that's going to get better use for then than in the dead of winter.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

I was INCREDIBLY restrained and only got the wellies that he needed *smug face*
That's almost disappointingly sensible! :rotfl:I'm staying away from Sainsbury's this time, but there's a Mothercare sale starting tomorrow... They sent me a 'preview' e-mail and I got two pairs of trousers that I'd wanted for LO, now reduced from £12 and £13 to £5 and £6. Also got her two swimming costumes from Gap, reduced from £12-ish each to £40 -

Well I did also treat us to a naughty Macdonalds for dinner, never go there really but once in a while won't hurt. Sounds like you got some good bargains!Newborn thread member

I went on a shopping spree yesterday - bought two dresses from Joy as well as a cardigan and new winter boots
For ME, not for the little person in my life! I'm super-excited about the boots - I have wide calves and normally struggle to find boots that fit me, but having now found a pair that fit perfectly I want it to be cold so I can wear them now!
She'll be getting a micro mini scooter for Christmas - she's now asking for a scooter on a regular basis, and I'd actually quite like her to have one, as I'm hoping it would enable us to stop using the buggy altogether. Does anyone have any thoughts on helmets - should I insist on one? I can't decide if I'm being overprotective or whether it's common sense!
In other news, LO and I made sweet potato scones today - very very yummy! She decided to make hers worm-shaped0 -
Ooh those scones look yummy Nutella! Might give honey ago after play school this afternoon.
Re helmets, G doesn't have one for his balance bike, I should probably get him one, at least for when we go out with it on pavements. It honestly didn't occur to me til I saw other kiddos wearing them on similar bikes. Bad mummy! I wouldn't try and get it on him when he's just in the garden as he's on and off it non stop, and only on grass, but for out and about I think he's going to have to. He can go fast on that thing now!Newborn thread member

Thanks Katie - I think I've decided to get a helmet; I'd never forgive myself if I didn't and something happened to her....
Back to the subject of Christmas - any recommendations for a good wooden train set that we can ask for from my parents? ELC have one reduced from £65 to £40 at the moment, but I'm wondering if it's too cheap to be any good?...I had a Brio one as a child, and it's brilliant, but it lives at my parents' and Brio is expensive.... She enjoys building the railway tracks more than driving the trains, so we'd want lots of pieces.0 -
G has Brio, but its inherited from when my brother and I were young. From what I've seen and read the ELC and Ikea wooden sets are pretty much identical. I'm going to get some extra bits from Ikea to go with his - its a nightmare getting a track almost built then not having the right size piece to finish it!Newborn thread member
