We have a collection of brio at my mums and Lego at both our parents places, can't wait til Baby is old enough to enjoy them. The Lego regularly comes out for my cousins children at family gatherings (along with the 1970 edition Topsy and Tims - the clothes are fantastic).
We're slowly accumulating a few Xmas bits for baby (he'll be coming up 11m by christmas) but won't buy much else he'll be a bit overwhelmed. We have a big family between us. I will have to think of some ideas for family won't i?! Hmmm. His birthday is so close to crimbo I'm thinking of asking for charity donations for his first birthday, eg to a baby charity. Will have to see what hubby thinks.
Thanks for the scone recipe. Looks great and I need some new ideas...
I'm meeting my boss in a few hours to discuss my return to work. Proper nervous as I'm requesting part-time and not sure if I'll get it... Fingers crossed please! Xfran-o0 -
ooooh hope the return to work interview went ok Fran-o.
My niece got the John Lewis wooden train set for christmas last year (2.5yrs then). Not sure if it's big enough, although you can buy more track. She loves it, it's got good reviews. I think a realistic alternative to Brio

Morning ladies, how did it go with work yesterday Fran-o?
Had another of those moments this morning when you're just totally amazed by the little person. He knows now that his job when he's dressed in the morning is to tuck his pjs under his pillow and if there are any dirty clothes that they need putting in the dirty bin in the bathroom. He LOVES doing his little jobs, its just too cuteAnd I got him a minions top in the Tesco 25% off sale that he put on for the first time today, he went marching off and hammered on the bathroom door til OH came out, puffed his little chest out, pointed at the top and yelled "MINIAH". Love.
OH has taken him out for a walk to town this morning, I've got work to do so it means I can get a bit of peace to get a good start on it. Hope you all have nice days aheadNewborn thread member

Thanks a million - I hadn't thought of John Lewis, but I love the look of it! There's also one with 120 pieces, so might get that one0 -
Thanks for your good wishes. Had a positive meeting with my line manager. I requested two changes - to drop from five days to two days a week, and to swap sites to work at the office closer to where I live ( I currently commute into London but there is a suburban office near home.) So the part-time request is granted and the change of location is pending desk space.... I've got til mid-nov to get all the details pinned down eg new job description, start date, which days I'll work etc but that's a positive start and a relief! :T
Chinese takeaway tonight as a naughty celebration. Poor baby will be eating steamed veg!fran-o0 -
glad your meeting went well fran-o
Nutella those scones look well worth a try, thanks
Katie thanks for sharing the cute proud mummy moments. Reminds me that I have so much to look forward to.
lazywife that set looks great, might ask grandparents for it as LO's Christmas present.
Really enjoying LO being at nursery - work is much easier! Thinking of increasing my days to maybe 4 or 5! Managed to survive most of today with LO - OH was out most of the day but said he'd be back 4/5 pm but turned up at 7 grrrr...Never mind I'm gonna be out loads next weekend. LO has his first tooth slowly making an appearance - every now again it gives him grief and stops him going to sleep, of course just in time for me to start work.0 -
Very positive Fran-o, great news they're being accommodating.
We had a horrible night - at suppertime G was sick but out him to bed as usual as he seemed ok, had hiccups so thought it was just that. After being up and row to him and three changes of pjs we brought him downstairs where he basically alternated 15-20 mins of dozing on my knee with being sick, all night long. poor little guy was in so much pain wretching but his tummy was empty. Slept from 5-6am when he woke up as bright as anything demanding food and drinks! He kept water down for an hour or two so had some cracker and he's fine. No idea what caused it, glad he seems over it though. Early night for me tonight!

oh dear poor G, sounds like he's got it out of his system which is good. Hope you have a better night tonight Katie.
Me and LO have just devoured half a tub of philly! There was some breadsticks involved too but not many. We only stopped at half cos we want to make some carrot cake in a bit lol!0 -
hello, just thought I'd pop in and see if I was allowed to join. My LO was born on the 16th September so is 12 days old today, she's generally a very good girl and is sleeping well but is unfortunately suffering a little with constipation. Will read back soon to get the hang of the thread if that's ok. LT0
