  • I know just what you mean lazywife, I look at A in the same way x

Congratulations and welcome Lemon Tree! We're a friendly bunch and always happy to welcome new members :)

fran-o, sounds like your meeting went well. Hope that you get the days that you would like, and the location.

katie, hope that both you and G have a better night tonight.

A is 17months now and coming on in leaps and bounds especially with her speech now. A couple of the things she does are in the mornings she wakes and sings Baa Baa black sheep to herself until I go in, and at bath time she practices saying "showser" pointing to the shower lol too cute!

    Have a good week ladies

  • http://www.daytripfinder.co.uk/blog/the-gruffalo-trail May be of use to someone - think the sites near us are pretty far out to go but there's a lot of them about (and I love the Gruffalo).

Train sets - from what I've heard from the childrens centre staff around here (we were talking about it this week just gone as I'm getting some for the kids this Christmas) - the Ikea one is slightly more tempremental in interconnecting with the other stuff - still works OK though. We've got a huge batch of Ikea track bought and then Tesco are doing a 60 piece set (in their red boxed Carousel range) for £12 that has more trees and a bridge and scenery stuff as well as some basic track so I've bought that to add to it (since Robyn's likely to just nick the scenery and run away to post it somewhere).

Other Christmas related stuff I've seen of note:
ELC have 20% off some of their Happyland at the moment according to an email I got through the other day
Argos 3 for 2 toys are back at the moment
Some of the Tescos (not all - and not ours unfortunately) have some Little People stuff heavily reduced apparently but that one I've heard second hand informationwise.
Home Bargains keep getting random Little Princess books in for 99p (Erin LOVES Little Princess so I keep picking them up as if I have to read I Want My Potty one more time it'll drive ME potty). I also got some little felt Christmas bags in there for 79p? I think it was the other day with reindeer and the like on the side that I plan on doing little sticker, notebook, colouring pencils type goodie bags as small presents for the relatives on various sides of the family - plus some Christmas themed board books as well I picked up.
Getting to the end of it now - but Lidl had their toddler waterproofs in the random stuff aisle last week - waterproof trousers/dungarees and a coat for £12 and they're really nice quality - thinly fleece lined and reflective stripes on them as well - picked up for both the girls but I found the trousers to be slightly longer fitting than the coats - E takes about age 4 clothes in most stuff and the 4-6 years coat is spot-on on her but the 4-6 trousers are on the long side (not that it matters cos I'll just tuck them into her wellies).

If you're in the North East the illuminations in Sunderland started this weekend just gone (we were up there and were going to go but I decided against it) - just the ones in Roker Park but I heard they were nice the other year. Think they've got some stuff in Mowbray nearer Christmas itself again.

Congratulations on your little one Lemon Tree!

You lot are far too organised with this Christmas lark! I have barely thought about it, plus I have a 3rd birthday in January and a 1st in February so there's loads of presents going to come our way ;)

Had little man Christened yesterday so he got lots of presents plus £30 cash and £10 M&S voucher to spend on him but I have no idea what. I wanted another lamaze toy for him but my Auntie needed an idea so she got him freddie firefly which he seems to love :)

We had a lovely day with lots of family and friends but sadly the alcoholic grandparents couldn't be ar**d to come which upset my hubby. I'm more cross about it to be honest.

I think this is the first year my daughter will really get what is going on at Christmas, but she's always enjoyed playing with the wrapping paper before!

  • Welcome Lemontree! Make yourself at home on the thread, it goes a bit quiet sometimes but we're usually all checking in, just hands full with LO :)

I am beyond excited for Christmas for this year. For the last 8 years we've lived 300 miles from most of our family in a tiny flat so no hope of inviting everyone to ours. This year we've got room to put people up and family close by. My mum and dad are coming to stay with us which is going to brilliant. I've already been on pinterest looking for decoration ideas and planning how on earth I'm going to do Christmas dinner in an oven barely big enough to roast a mouse...

Welcome Lemon tree! Hubby and I we're chatting yesterday about how those first weeks we're a bit of a blur. I just remember being so tired that I cried almost everyday, gah! It gets easier!
Katie, we did Xmas dinner for 9 adults in our flat a few years ago. Cooked turkey on Christmas Eve so we only had veg potatoes and trimmings to do on Christmas Day (that's plenty!). Cheat where you can - we asked parents to bring desserts, and bought pre made gravy (gravy is my personal nemesis, I hate faffing around to make it while dinner goes cold!)
Waiting in for phone engineer today. Boring! Baby practising his crawling and cuddling up for sleepy milk. I expect the doorbell to ring as soon as Baby goes off to sleep...!

So, time for us all to stop hiding and bring this thread back to life again!... :) I have nothing interesting to say, but hope everyone is well x
  • Ladies, tonight I have started a mission, no judging, but me and oh have been in separate beds for the last couple of months because of lo coming into bed earlier and earlier. So I'm looking for some support from mummies. :)

Today at work I decided enough is enough and lo needs to 1. Stay in his own bed until morning 2. Move into his own room (eventually) so today I have lowered his cot to the lowest it will go and bought him his favourite characters duvet and now he is fast asleep with his legs dangling off the cot.

We have a cot/cot bed from mamas and papas, he's had the side off for ages but to be pushed up to our bed like a Co sleeping cot so now he's at lowest but pushed away from the bed so my first worry is, what if he rolls out of bed?

Wish me luck, I'm working tomorrow so dreading it, I know ill be a tired mess :(

    Hello ladies :)
I haven't posted for a while, sorry. Lovely to catch up on what you have all been up to. We want to get A a wooden train set this year, have looked at the ELC one and the John Lewis link, thank you. Just not sure which we will go for yet.

We don't have a helmet for his balance bike, we gave the same one as you Katie!! I think we should invest on one now as he likes to tackle hills now and especially after our recent a and e visit!!!

Mrsh, good luck with your plan. Aiden has the sides of his cot bed and has done since about 22 months. We have a Lindam bed rail on the side, without it he would roll out as he is a extremely wriggly sleeper! But I have friends who have never needed one. Maybe pop after pillows and cushions on the floor and just see how he goes, they are very low down anyway so as long as the floor is cushioned he should be ok.

Dizzy blonde, we have a gruffalo trail near us. We have been about 20 times! Aiden absolutely loves the gruffalo and we have all the clothes from sainsburys (obvs bought in the 25% off!) Even a pair of wellies! If you can make it to one I highly recommend it. Ours will be changing soon to the gruffalos child trail which will be nice as we are getting bored of the current one!

On lovely proud moments, A has been doing my hair tonight :) he pretends he is a barber and brushes my hair and says 'that looks nice!' He then brushes off my shoulders and pretends to give me a lollipop. Sooooo sweet :)

  • I know what you mean Nutella, I like reading but don't have much to say!

MrsH good luck with the cot situation. Maybe you could get a bed guard?

My LO was screaming last night until midnight cos of teething bless him. Calpol and bonjela didn't do the trick. I've bought anbesol and calprofen but haven't had to use anything yet, fingers crossed. I'm so tired, think I'm gonna go to bed soon at 9am!
