Does anyone have one of those night lights that you can set to turn green when it's ok to get up? If so, which one would you recommend (if any) and at what age did you introduce it? I'm not convinced it would work for us, but after two years of waking up between 4 and 5 (4.15 this morning....) I'm willing to try pretty much anything0

We have a gro clock - neither child pays the blindest bit of notice to it!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
I know a few people who've had success with Gro Clocks Nutella. G isn't too bad these days, normally about 6.30 then he entertains himself in bed while I get up and get a shower. When he was waking earlier I just get tough - I'll lie him back down regularly but he doesn't get out of his cot til 6.30am - no matter the noise he's creating. And it has worked when we had weeks and weeks of 5am wake ups, gradually he just wakes later, or plays with his comforter and book (he always has a book in his cot, complete lifesaver for us when he's awake but I'm not ready yet!)Newborn thread member

Dizzi, I like it!
I think we'll wait a few months and then get a mini micro scooter - I think they look a bit more grown up, whereas the Y Glider looks a bit babyish even with the seat off, so I'm thinking that it's worth paying a bit more for something that's potentially more future proof. In fact, come to think of it, I may have just figured out what to give LO for xmas - thank you!
They do the mini micros with seats as well - but we're too skint to afford one of those!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

Delain - good grief. is she ok? That sounds awful. hope she gets well soon
Nutella - my son's waking early too. He's a lot younger than yours and I wont pretend we've had it half as bad yet but I really do empathise! I hate 4am rises - it makes the day soooo long!
Thanks everyone for your support on nursery. He went and cried as expected. I practically bolted out as there was a huge lump in my throat and I didn't want to look silly. Then I realised I'd left my phone and went back - he was still crying.
longest 2hrs ever. went to collect him and he was asleep! i'm not sure how it went really as she said he'd worked himself up and probably tired himself out but also said he'd eventually played and watched the telly with 2 little boys. so a mixed bag really.
On the plus side your comments are so reassuring and I know he'll love it in the end
Thank you x0 -
Delain - hope your little girl gets rid of the chickenpox soon
I have a late to bed, late to rise LO. Managed to get him to bed for 10pm today but he'll sleep until 7:30/ 8 unless I've cursed myself!
I made some pesto today and I'm very proud of myself. I got the old pestle and mortar out. I hate cleaning blenders! Of course LO didn't eat any of it but he's got some to look forward to tomorrow. I mixed it up with tomato puree and pasta yum yum. Can't think of any other ideas to do with pesto tho.
Bangton glad LO slept at nursery - that can be hard for a LO to do at nursery. He sounds like he settled and is definitely getting used to other children too.
Still looking for a wardrobe, thanks to everyone for their suggestions x0 -

Very yummy in a toasted sandwich - I spread a thin layer on the bread before adding cheese and slices of fresh tomato0 -
Scooter with seat was a huge hit - had it at the park today (I improvised a scooter tug using her backpack rein lead) and she declared it the best day ever... found a very cheap scuttlebug second hand for her little sister so picking that up tonight since lil sis was also mastering the scooter with seat better than her sister to be honest.
Really impressed with the quality of it actually considering a lot of the kid scooters can feel a bit rickety (and I'd assembled it in Toys R Us carpark myself!).
Irked since the holidays mean everywhere is utterly invaded by school age kids and the pre-schoolers get squeezed out... no toddler groups on at all, and the toddler play area in the local park was overrun by such badly behaved upper junior/lower secondary age kids this morning that all the parents with littlies ended up leaving before their kids got hurt. Not as if there aren't TWO bigger kid play areas right next door to this area either!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Bangton - nursery does get better. It's hard to think that it will in the beginning, for me I just felt guilty and it didn't help when I had some people state 'I don't know how you can return to work when she's so tiny' (she was 8 mths).
I just always felt reassured when I picked her up and managed to watch her having fun before she'd spot me. Knowing she's always had her milk, food and slept makes me relax also.
Can I ask what people did/are doing for 1st birthdays if anything?
I don't think we're going to do a party but then I feel guilty/think we should. As most know all my family are back in Australia and my hubby is an only child. We hardly see his parents so family wise people would be non existence and of course lo hasn't got any friends yet. I'm thinking it means more when she's older.
I've been to a few 1st birthday parties as it was colleagues children's but of course most of the people were relatives and had older children so you had plenty going on.
LO's birthday is on a Monday so we'll both be at work and of course her at nursery. So just thinking of having her presents and some balloons set up in the lounge and then she does have a cake sorted so could have that in the evening after tea or the 3 of us just go somewhere, arghhhh.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160
