Thanks Dizzi, I think mil has taken him to the Victoria one - he got hit full in the face apparently and wasn't impressed! (by a fountain, not a feral child ;))

We've just been to the carboot this morning, got a few more hotwheel type cars to go with G's new garage. Was on the lookout for a farm set for him but nothing doing. Got to drop off a load of his unused toys at the Collectplus place later as sold all his Toot Toot stuff and all his Happyland on ebay as he never played with it. His shelves are looking a bit bare at the moment!

Happyland really seems to be hit or miss on it - mine absolutely love the stuff and we've got tonnes of it, but we've also got a lot of little sets we've been given by people whose kids haven't been interested in it at all (not that I'm complaining!) - it's that, or the garage or play food that gets played with in this house.

My pair the other morning on their scooters and scuttlebugs - both scruffing it up since we thought we were going to the splashpad and would need to get changed but it wasn't switched on then! I want another of the seated scooters as Bobbi got halfway across the park on it which was some impressive going for a 16 month old!

I'm in Notts too! Where are the water parks you've been going to?

Mary I think you did brilliantly standing upto that idiot! Hope head office are more use than the store manager. With so much in the press about it you'd think staff would be told

Not water related - but Wollaton Hall just had a big new play area fitted as well and that's got a lot going on (but obviously you pay for parking there) and we tend to go over to Markeaton Park in Derby a fair bit which has the big open air paddling pool along with the huge play area...
Oh and I think there's a paddling pool area at Viccy Embankment but I haven't been there as it's a bit of a pain to get to for me... not sure what's at Highfields Park either - the tram works put me off trying to get to that one!

Hi both - we go to the Victoria Embankment one and Bulwell Bogs (it's nicer than it sounds!) and we're also fans of MarkEaton Park - we usually go shopping in Derby then drive a bit further out to go to the park afterwards.

I wasn't aware of the Long Eaton one so I think we will give that a try next week, thanks for the tip off.

I've also collected a lot of leaflets for free events so we'll be touring local parks and libraries during the holidays and I've bought tickets off ebay for Warwick Castle as my son is madly into Horrible Histories. I got four tickets for £20 as opposed to the £24 each on the gate price so was pleased with that! :T

In respect of the Sainsburys situation I complained on their facebook page and within an hour someone from Head Office asked for more details and personally called the manager of the store to discuss it. Sainsbury were very clear that they did not have a policy preventing breastfeeding in their stores.

It turns out the person I spoke to at the time of the incident was the manager on shift as opposed to the whole store manager. This morning the whole store manager called me and was very apologetic. He said it never should have happened and there should never have been an issue.

He actually said "you have every right to breastfeed your baby and the security guard should never have approached you or said those things to you, he was completely out of order."

He came across as very genuine and he said that he would be giving all staff a refresher in equality and diversity training, including the security guards, and he would also be contacting the company that the security guard in question works for to discuss it with them too.

I was satisfied that he was treating it seriously and he seemed really nice and genuine so I'm happy with the way Sainsburys handled it.

SmlSave that sounds hilarious! I hope you and your friends got a good long free swim! :rotfl:

For the Long Eaton one - you have to park at the leisure centre and walk through West Park down past the sports pitches and the play areas are all over the little canal bridge... you can't see them at all from the car park so I didn't know it was all down there until we went for a wander one morning!

Robyn's done the full fountain in the face thing as well Katie - bent over to inspect a water jet which promptly turned on and gave her what for right in the face. She was so upset by it (everything upsets her - she's a bit drippy at times) but I didn't half giggle at the comic timing of it!

    I've been Money Tipped!
Everyone busy in the sunshine!?!? Either that or dashing to Kiddicare, apparently there are some bargains to be had.
T has had another 2 days off nursery last week (actually properly ill this time rather than over cautious nursery) so that's 6 sick days since he started at the end of May?!! Work have been very good though, I've managed to do crisis visit from Mum and Dad, then DH and I have alternated, so only 2 days cancelled in work.... so far.
He's picked up this weekend, had in-laws so that picked him up, a bit of different entertainment. For the past couple of mornings, he's just screamed for 10 mins or so when he's got up in the morning. A bit of a downer, but hopefully it'll not last long (pretty grim at 5.30am, not even Mr Tumble makes it better?!!)
Our swimming is cancelled for the school holidays, but our group said we'd still go this week and really enjoyed it, obviously less structure, but T loved just splashing with his friends. Thankfully realised that I'd not packed my pants on the way there, so turned round and got them, rather than in the changing room having to negotiate cropped jeans and no knickers!?!
    Hope you're all well.

thank you for the directions - I never would have found it otherwise!

poor Robyn I hope she's ok - it does sound very funny though! sometimes you can't help but laugh when they do such funny things! :rotfl:

lazywife I had a gander yesterday - nappies only had 10% off but there were good deals o car seats at 50% off some of them and there wre pumpkin patch clothes at 50% off too.

Didn't even know about the kiddicare stores closing till my cousin mentioned it the other day complaining she was missing out on bargains on there... although from the article on this site the "bargains" are rather iffy - the jumperoo mentioned is about what we paid for ours from there anyway! (But I often find that about kiddicare bargains)

About to sell my double buggies - all of 'em! Bought a second hand babyjogger last night which should do Bobbi till she's out of a buggy, since Erin adamantly very politely declined all offers of a ride in the pushchair through an entire day at Alton Towers even when she was dragging herself back to the car with exhaustion... think her pushchair days are completely over with (and if we have to we can always take the single stroller along as a second buggy with us and push one each)... seems daft my handbag riding in splendour in an empty pushchair seat on a Phil and Teds so that one's going up for sale as well today. I now have car boot space! Haven't been able to use my car boot since I bought the car as the pushchair's taken up all of it - but thankfully the rear passenger footwells are so huge I can get a weekend away's stuff, plus travel cot and all sorts in there anyway!

Will probably end up having a mooch over to Kiddicare even though it's only a buggy board I'm looking for at the moment and I think it's cheaper in Mothercare anyway. Fancy getting out of the house for this morning as we've been cooped up for a while as I was trying potty training but I think we need to get over this challenging behaviour bit of the terrible twos and re-establish boundaries before I go for it again - Erin's using it as an excuse to wind me up and I'm not playing that particular game. She doesn't start pre-school till October and they'll take her in nappies if needed so I'm refusing to put too much pressure on myself which is my usual downfall.

Popped into the local Kiddicare this morning - the poor poor staff looked on the verge of tears and they've always been so bubbly and positive and lovely there... apparently they've been taking barrages of abuse from the customers ever since the closure was announced and it's been absolutely vile by all accounts - they were kind of shocked to come across me saying nice things to them!

Only went in to get a toilet seat and step - wasn't bargain hunting anyway just I refuse to pay the like £8 our local Tescos is charging!

    Loving the new buggy though!

Hi folks, hope you are all well and your babies are keeping you smiling!
We're good, baby will be six months on Monday! I've been stocking the freezer with veg and fruit pur!es for our first weeks and looking forward to some baby led weaning too. Also cleared the diary a bit so I don't get too stressed trying to feed baby and get to the right place at the right time too!

Just wondered if anyone might have advice, if you or a friend has been through post natal depression. Two of the girls in my nct circle of friends have been diagnosed in the last few weeks, their babies around 6-7 months. I've not known these ladies long (only since December 2013) but we've become close and I'd like to be able to help them. Any advice?

Just offer your support and let them know that they can talk to about anything or even that you're available if they don't want to talk and want to hide away. 2 of the girls I know dealt with it with family/friends and medication while another never really wanted to talk about it with anyone, she was let down by the system and committed suicide.

All you can really do it let them know that you are there and remind them that they are wonderful.
