Ugh, my little boy is trying to torture me with sleep deprivation. 7 feeds overnight last night  Must be a growth spurt rather than him trying to kill me, but not quite feeling like that!

Toddler keeps waking at night as well, I think because she is too hot. We seem to be living separately as a family overnight, me in bed, little man in cot next to me, toddler on sofa and hubby on the floor with her (on some comfy cushions, but he makes it sound worse!).

I need to take them out somewhere today just to keep my sanity, but I don't want to go very far in case I fall asleep!

Thanks solsol have got a good second hand deal I hope that includes carrycot so will be flat for 4-6mths. Got to pay lady via PayPal later and have it couried to me seen lots photos of it and best deal have found and chassis has had new wishbone n wheels recently and been serviced so all good.

I had a quinny buzz last time brought that second hand too n has same seat style in that the whole seat tips back to lie down. I actually sold that 2.5yrs later for exactly same price I paid for it.
  • We were cheap and cheerful re pram in comparison to majority of the prams that exist. We went for the mothercare trenton, we used the car seat clipped into the pram most of the time we went anywhere as in the beginning we never were out for hours on end.

We did use the carry cot a lot when my parents were over in the Feb as were out for longer then. Only downside if you want them facing you as once they're in the actual pram part they can only face outwards, but that doesn't bother me as LO at 9.5 mths is terribly nosey and when in her car seat clipped into her pram she was forever trying to lean forward and look around to be facing forwards.

We like the ease of it as one twist of the handle and it collapses down as a one, has a clip to hold it down and then a carry handle. I also like all the storage, little place for my keys with a temperature dial and clock that also has two drink holders either side of it, a sunglasses case which is handy for actually putting my phone in, a velcro pocket that fits my purse in and then the big carry basket under neath. All of that comes in extremely handy when taking the dog for a walk.

It does take up majority of my boot (Ford Focus) so cannot do a big food shop that's for sure, but you can get a good amount of shopping in the boot still. We did debate getting something smaller but it's just so nice to push and like today when LO was getting sleepy when out taking the dog for a walk I just reclined it back as it goes completely flat, I think it has 3 or 4 seating positions, LO stayed asleep for about 20 mins once home.

Anyway moving on. I'm now on holidays until the 2nd Sept :j. LO is still at nursery tomorrow and Wednesday as had already paid for those days, so get to go to the hair dressers tomorrow (in laws still wont look after her) as that was my only way to go and have someone to look after her. I'll never understand my in laws as they're about 20 mins away so can see her loads more than my parents & sister can (In Australia) and I have my parents looking after LO over the weekend in a few weeks when we visit them so hubby and I can go away with my sister and her boyfriend. They very kindly offered and even though they're nervous they said they'll just get on it and actually cannot wait to do that side of being a grand parent.

I've made my point to my MIL anyway as my change towards her since she wrote the letter to us has been noticed by her and she's asked hubby why I'm different. He told her why so apparently she's writing me my own letter (how pathetic).

  • hi I have been reading, just not had much to say.

I have a babyjogger city mini gt - it's one fold and I've used it from birth. It takes up the car boot 'cos it's so wide but you can put things on top if you want. I manage to run race for life with it so I'd say it's pretty manoeuvrable. The creche commented that it's nice and soft inside so if you have a thrashy baby resisting sleep, then it's still safe. It was a which number 2 best buy so I just went for it.

I'm very tempted to buy a baby wardrobe with two clothes rails - I'm fed up with fishing t-shirts out of a drawer! does that sound silly? I end up with crumpled t-shirts and other clothes. I saw a nice one in the mamas and papas outlet for £230 and another nice one for £150 but it was already assembled.

The pram I'm moaning about is a mamas and papas sola so it's not huge but it's heavy and the straps are diabolical. The hoods rubbish when reclined/basket small/no storage. It takes up every inch of my boot too. I just hate it. It was also a which best buy so I'm probably picky.

I looked at a babyjogger and the maclaren quest but I can't decide. Now I've hated one pram I'm scared to commit to buying another. I want a huge hood as lo will sleep in his pram but wakes easily with breeze/sunlight. I know I can get a sunshade but I hate anything covering lo. I hate hate rain covers so the bigger the hood the better! I'm thinking of a cybex callisto but I'd have to buy online and hope I like it which puts me off !

The wardrobe thing is not silly benice. We had a fitted wardrobes put in our bedroom by a joiner when I was pregnant. It cost £280 but we could say exactly what we wanted. I think I'll do the same in lo's room when he's a little older as it's a similar cost to buying from a shop. Our problem is hoodies/coats etc that just end up getting stacked in a drawer and rolling off each other!

I'm at work in two weeks and I seem to be so busy atm because of it. lo has 3 settling in days to squeeze in, starting tomorrow. dreading it as I know he'll cry. Tomorrow is just 2hrs and we usually spend Wednesdays with my mum so she said to go round and we'll collect him together but I've said no as I'm pretty sure I'll be crying too! !

I feel really odd going back. I so want to see my work friends but I've no idea how I'll focus on my job when my mind is home with my son!

    hope your all well xxx

I have heard great things about the baby jogger Bangton but its not an umbrella fold, if that's what you're looking for. Loads of people I know have it and love it :)

We bought a Next hearts & stars wardrobe for LO's room when she was 12 months old - like you, I was getting fed up with folding and unfolding! Unfortunately they don't stock it anymore, but I'd definitely recommend Next - the wardrobe is nice and sturdy and will last for years. It has one rail and two drawers at the bottom, which is very handy for things like towels and bed sheets and my collection of clothes that don't yet fit her. I collected hangers from shops for months, so didn't need to buy any :)

I think this sums up how most people feel about going back to work after maternity leave. You probably will spend a significant amount of time thinking about him, what he's doing, what he's eating, whether he's asleep, but you'll gradually stop worrying and know that he's absolutely fine. Phone the nursery whenever you feel like it if you need reassurance - they'll be used to it.

My advice would be to not hang around when you drop him off - a protracted good bye is painful for you both - and to expect him to cry when you pick him up. That's a baby's way of telling you they've missed you :o When he's older, the tears will be replaced with 'MUMMY!' and a big hug :D

My LO loves her nursery. She gets to do all sorts of fun stuff, has made lots of little friends and has learnt so much. She talks about it on the days she's not there, and is excited about it on the days she's going. I also like that she's exposed to different foods, including things I'd never cook and/or things she'll refuse to eat at home. Children are incredibly adaptable - I'm sure your little man will love it there once he gets used to it.

Going back to work definitely has a plus side. You can have adult conversations that aren't about poo/sleep/weaning, you can wear make up and proper clothes that aren't stained, you can drink tea and coffee whilst they're still hot, and wander around in your lunchbreak, looking around shops or just going for a walk with no one demanding your attention. I also eat breakfast at my desk - I arrive really early, so I'm usually there on my own. Bliss :D

We have a wardrobe, Id be lost without it as I buy far too many clothes for him!

So agree with Nutella about going back to work, my first week I dreaded. I spent weeks worrying and had so many tears about it. The first day was rough for me, he cried at drop off and so did I. I left asap though as I didnt want to confuse him by hanging about. Call as many times as you like, they will be fine with it - I still have cause to call now if A is a little off in the morning, it puts your mind at rest and you can get on with the day.

Loads of positives to going back, more cash is one!! I love being able to try clothes on without the risk of A whipping the curtain, eating your own lunch without sharing, wearing clean clothes and enjoying a full cuppa. The best part by far though is picking them up, its always nice to hover outside for a minute and see what they are up to before they see you, and you will get the loveliest cuddles too :) its amazing what they pick up and how adaptable they are, I never thought A would nap on a fold out mat, eat some of the food he does, or adapt to thier feeding timetable as it was different with ours at home - he did all and more.

Off to the gruffalo performance at the local theatre this afternoon with one of A's little pals. Booked the day off so snook in a quick hair cut before I pick him up at 2, amazing how much better a hair cut and colour can make you feel!!

Gruffalo at the theatre sounds fab sunshine, enjoy! I've booked tickets for me and G to go the panto this year with my mum. We always used to go to the York Theatre Royal every year when I was growing up and it is AWESOME. I'm so excited for it. I hope G enjoys it but I've booked seats at the side so I can take him in and out if he gets the wriggles.

I hope you get settled with nursery and work quickly Bangton, I'm sure you will. I'm going to be leaving G at pre-school for the first time in Sept and although its obv a bit different as he's older etc I'm still dreading him crying when I leave. There's been no mention of settling in sessions either so I think as its not nursery its a case of drop him off and get on with it.
