    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Kat saw the easy lock thing last week or earlier and instantly thought of you.

I thought it would be ideal for you staying in your off the beaten track places.

Good publicity for the company too if it does what it says on the tin and you blog about it. I am sure they will soon be in all travellers survival kits.

Kat its lovely to hear from you!!!!

I cant wait to do my Boots haul- would you mind PM ing me what you bought as although i have my own list I hate to think im forgetting something- ha love a good list!

Also will you be doing a packing blog post ie everything you pack?

When are you having your grand blog launch? heheh! *cheers*

I still have another two weeks in work and its DRAGGING. However I am off tommorrow & friday as family are coming over to visit me from the isle of man to say goodbyes and interestingly I will meet 2 members of the extended family who i have never met before (great aunts had two children we knew nothing about - both girls were put up for adoption from newborn. We were contacted by one who wanted to meet her real mum ( who is unfortunatly very sick and is suffering from dementia) and now the two sisters have found each other too! :):) ) which is very exciting.

cant believe the goodbyes are already starting- in fact i said goodbye to my dads side of the family last week , although they live 5 mins away they are very private people, we never really visit them, so i wont see them now... families eh :)

Kat did you go with WORLD NOMADS in the end? Im in the final stages of going with liverpool victoria as it is much cheaper and pretty much covers the same. the reviews are good too.

    xx

edit : its amazing you are getting that lock. did they give it you as a PR sample ( free) for your blog? very MSE ;)

  • Indigo I keep forgetting about the travel insurance. MUST do that today! I don't think world nomads is the best - all the American travelers seem to use it so I am wondering if they don't have any other choice where as we do. Hmmmm might get this ticked off today then.

It's raining over here and freezing, the fire has just been lit and me and Mumsy are going to have an easy day researching.

I must must must get some articles written today for the blog so I need to sit and relax and write titles at least.. (Indigo a list is coming to you today as well)..

Lilt I might grab a picture that's already been taken...(teehee)..but we shall see how I feel over the weekend. Might get the brother to get his professional camera out..

    Right I need a cuppa...

Hello honeybunch - thank you for this lovely post. It's a very nice things to read! I have highlighted the most important part -haha - which means there's a chance my blog won't sink like a stone. Haha!

  • Before I go to the front page of MSE and have a look at what Martin says about travel companies I have done a little searching myself. Mumsy even rang her broker ( ooooh errr Mrs ) and they have suggested another company I have never heard of.

So this is what I have located so far.... all were requested quotes using the same variables being for 8 months, single traveller, excluding the USA, Canada and the Caribbean and the most basic offer given.
    • World Nomads - £368.17. No other choices offered. Due to this is has been veto'd by me.
    • Insure and Go - £158. There are 3 other offers of bronze (£190), silver (£250) and gold (£432). They also offer £2500 towards student finance which I do not need and would like to see if removing it changes the price. There is also a possible discount if I get this through the organisation
    • Citybond - Basic offered @ £178.36. The next offer up is £267.53. The policies have been sent through to me so I shall be reading these today. Ideally Insure and Go look like the winners.

I shall keep you all posted.. I am sure you are thoroughly excited!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Interested to know which company the broker suggested Kat. I work for an IFA so like to know about insurers although when at home I will go with whoever is cheapest or offering more cashback to offset it ;)

We all love your writing style. :D Why do you think I've been around for 2 years now reading every word ;)

Your blog shall not sink; it will fly like a castle in the sky!! :D

Wow have a lovely holiday !!! I am 30 too, i have moved from Argentina to Britain when i was 20, got married at 21 and 7 months ago moved to London from Wales with my2 kids..

I love travelling , the other day my husband and i were discussing maybe saving money and moving to the caribbean islands, somewhere in Central america and have a very simple life( at the moment, no debts, we rent ).. yes.. for us is all or nothing but i am more cautios now there are 2 kids in the mix.

I would love travelling for a year with the kids, but how people go on about this? they have enough saving so they don't have to work ? because if you work part time who looks after the kids ?

  • Lilt she suggested CityBond. She also quoted me wrong and it's actually £344 for what I need.

Insure and Go seem like the cheapest but I contacted them online just now. I asked about the "student loan" section but it can't be removed and wouldn't affect how much the policy is. The guy I was chatting to on the "live chat" actually said it's just there for show as no could actually claim it - which I think is a little decietful. They also don't offer discounts as suggested by the place I got my vaccinations (1st Contact).

Gocompare have suggested is ProtectYourBubble @ £219 so I am just checking their policy now.
