hey Kat i will respond to your pm now. however if you havent aready got insurance sorted try Liverpool Victoria. I have trapsed through so many polices and honestly think you pay for what you get in most ways as the cheaper insurance policys have so many exclusions. Hopefully we never have to claim on them anyway!
World nomads seems to be the most comprehensive however it is usually 2 or 3 times more pricey!
Anyway get blog writing we all all eagerly waiting post one!:) x

Hello all...
Lilt - it's the connector cable between the ethernet and the Macbook that costs £25 on Amazon. It's called a Thunderbolt. You don't have one of those lying around do you?..;-)
Indigo I haven't bought my insurance yet. I looked at Liverpool Victoria but will do it again properly this week. I have t'interweb at home but it's just really slow and very annoying. Thank you for your PM though..
I have been sat in the garden all day, then went for a walk, then put my suitcase of stuff from London into my "old" ward-robe. And there ends the entire substance of my day. I ran out of time for a nap darn it.
I have however squeezed in some research - I have everything on the "most important travel budget items" list on most websites even without their prompting. I am a prepper though...
So Indigo....do you have a travel towel, a silk sleeping sack, a head-torch, ear plugs, a travel pillow etc etc..... I feel like I am packing more stuff than clothing...
Anyway I think I need to lay all my stuff out and see what I have already as I am slightly starting to panic... (ish)..“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Oh boy. Sadly I do not. There isn't a USB port on a Macbook?!?! There are loads of ethernet to USB adaptors...

You are right - I am being silly. Looking now and will check Argos tomorrow as well to prevent having to wait for Amazon delivery to the sticks..:rotfl:“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Yayyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!
You're not being silly! I just suddenly panicked about my future purchase not having a USB slot :rotfl: defo Argos is the way forward. Failing that is there a big supermarket nearby you can do click and collect at?xx

Hey Kat after hours of reading i decided to go with Outbackers insurance ... was a tough call between them and liverpool victoria . Think it was £286 for a year which is half what world nomads quoted and that was for the GOLD plan which means no excess at alland it covers accidents on motorcycles (tuk tuks) which no others did ( as far as i could see)
im taking everything except a sleeping liner as my two mates took one and said they used it once in 18 months.( you may use it more as you are going to more deprived places) A friend got me a microfiber travel towel thing as a leaving gift:T

I've just been mentally running over your packing list Kat, and I wondered if you had a hot water bottle? I know they're kinda bulky, but a friend of mine gave me one (which I gave to my mum otherwise I'd have sent it to you) and it looks a little like a colostomy bag! It's made from triple layers of plastic, kinda like a super thick carrier bag, so it folds super flat...and, because the walls of it are so thin, you just fill it with hot water from the tap so it's super convenient.
I'll email my friend and ask her where she got it. It's proved jolly useful to me on many a chilly evening!0 -
Indigo - on that tonight. Thank you - I keep forgetting this knowing full well I can do it "tomorrow" but getting it out of the way asap suits me fine. Yes I might be in grottier places and am a bit odd when it comes to sleeping items - are you taking a sleeping bag? I'm not.
Also hate those towels but it's amazing for soaking up my hair so I am bringing a super thin pink one!
Lilt - we are supposed to have wireless?? Looking into that tonight. Spoke with Mother's provider and they might need to send out a new router box thingy... bet it will arrive the day I leave. Muppets.
Siousxie - hello chick. Haven't spoken to you in ages. Please forgive. Must admit a hot water bottle is the last thing I would take to South East Asia - I am going to melt over there already. Not sure I would use it really. I will bear it in mind for when I move on to colder climates though so if you get the name of it please let me know.
Blog is ummmmm coming along ish. Driving me nuts trying to decide on a "theme"... especially on my Mums super slow netbook and ethernet combo. Anyway ...speak later as I intend to stay up a little later tonight playing with the bloggy bits...
