  • Just a thought Buffy, but do you think the day after eating the junk food has any bearing on the headaches. If I don't eat fruit and veg I get very 'headachey' and sluggish and can't be !!!!!d. Just a thought.

    Hi Buffy

I used to have a terrible time at that TOTM and before Christmas was actually starting to think I might have to have a hysterectomy as it's not feasible to feel like !!!! for 25 to 50% of the month. I should have bought shares in Holland and Barrett I've tried so many supplements, but what I've found has helped me the most is Raspberry Leaf capsules. I think they're used by pregnant women a lot to help childbirth, but their effects on women's TOTM problems aren't so well known about. I haven't had the monthly agony for 3 months now - might be worth a try? I also drink the tea because I quite like it and it's an extra top-up.

For a general pick me up and energy boost, have you tried spirulina? It's a bit expensive, but you don't need anywhere near the 6 capsules a day it states on the bottle. I find 2 is fine and I really notice the difference in my energy levels.

    Take care

  • thanks for posting, have walked the dogs and feel a bit better, sorry for the whinge earlier. I am as Gwen says fed up with feeling like this for at least 25% of the month. Part of me thinks I am a self fulfilling prophecy - I sort of knew this would happen, which is why I rarely taken immigran as it has happened a number of times before but how much of that is me worrying about it and causing it and how much is it just going to happen? THing is I have had migraines for over ten years now and the only thing that cures them is sleep. Had I not gone out Friday I would have taken a sleeping tablet and slept that way to head it off at the pass so to speak. I will go back to the doctors in half term. will go to the surgery on Thursday to make the appointment.

Is it me or does it seem to be worse? I don't know, I can't get perspective on it really.....

I am SO going to try this rasberry leaf malarkey, pregnant friends have raved about it also. Spirulina hilariously this is what I feed the pleco! mind you he is active and healthy. I am currently trying Agnus castus.... well I would be if I could remember them!

    *taken tablets*

The dogs were most confused by this as I appear to be eating dog treats (small, round and I didn't like the smell) and they didn't get any.......

    routine. I need a routine.

I know it's difficult, but try to persevere with the doctor. In my experience, GP's are skilled in fobbing people off and it's basically because they don't want to have to justify the cost of referring you/treating you. Plus I've found that with monthly problems, once the time has passed, you look back and it doesn't seem as bad as it was at the time...almost like childbirth...so it's hard to really convey how horrific it was at the time. I was finally diagnosed with endometriosis, which was causing the pain. The doctor always said I couldn't have it as I don't have heavy periods but I finally got it diagnosed and removed. It's not made much difference to the pain though probably because the gynae suspects I also have adenomyosis which they can't remove without a hysterectomy and that causes it's own problems, so I spent loads of time before Christmas researching anything that might help.

I tried Agnus Castus as well briefly - kept forgetting to take them as well, but I think I was a bit discouraged because it can take a while to help. It may be a fluke, but I can't remember 3 months that have been as easy as this so I'm keeping going with the Red Raspberry Leaf. I was going for acupuncture, but I wasn't blown away by the effects and it's expensive.

The spirulina is amazing, I honestly didn't think a supplement could have such an effect. I promise I don't work for any company associated with any of these products, it's just from the research I've done online to help with my own health problems and then trial and error.

Unfortunately I think you get to a stage where your body starts objecting to not being cared for. I ate terribly until I developed IBS before Christmas and I've had to improve my diet. I'm fundamentally very lazy though, so I buy ready meals - on offer of course, lol, then buy a load of veg and cook it all alongside the meal. It is quite substantial so then I don't snack as much in the evening, I feel better and I've lost a bit of weight to boot.

It is sad I know but I feel it is necessary!

I have to be motivated - I do need external validation, proof if you like that I have "done" something

I shall award myself stickers!! and if I get so many I shall have some kind of reward......

Nothing wrong with that at all. I've been thinking of doing something similar myself, but without times - more like a list of activities for everyday. I honestly think I might have some sort of ADHD because my mind flits all over the place and I can easily forget crucial things. I'm also going to get a wallplanner not for work, for home so that I can write on it crucial dates - birthdays etc, but also car insurance renewal due, MOT due, etc, etc. I desperately need to be more organised.

I'm not sure. I take spirulina and raspberry leaf. I imagine the combination that may cause issues would be Agnus Castus and Red raspberry leaf.
