On another topic, and probably TMI (sorry!), but is anyone else having trouble with diarrhea? I think this is revenge for not having any morning sickness...
Me! I'd rather this than the opposite though. Not much in the way of symptoms today though, apart from huge painful boobs!
Newthrift forgot to say thank you for the bra tips.
Glad the scan went well vanilla. Mine won't be until next year which feels ages away. So glad my early one is booked.0 -
Glad your scan went well Vanilla- your date is only 2 days after mine. My scan and consultant appointment are tomorrow afternoon. We are due the week of our 10th anniversary- I don't know if I want them to be the same day or not!
I managed to only buy one stripey t shirt. Bump is definitely visible now! But trousers are still fine to do up, it's just my tops/dresses as belly is poking out, so it must be quite high.
I've been doing a bit of research on aqua natal classes as a colleague recommended them and I have found some locally so hopefully I'll get more info on them soon.0 -
Good luck with your scan tomorrow Penguin, I'ld rather not have baby arrive on the anniversary, it's nice it's around the same time though.0

Hope all goes well today Penguin
Sweet, it seems all maternity wear is either stripey or flowery, neither of which appeals to me. I've seen some nice t-shirts/shirts in Topshop maternity section and Asos so I might just try there. Also going to maybe avoid the maternity section, other than maybe leggings/jeans and just buy a size up. I just can't seem to find anything I like.0 -

April - i've tried exactly the same, just going up a size, but be warned it can be a touch unflattering - depends where you put weight on. Due to keeping pretty fit, at the moment I only really have my bump, not much anywhere else, so bigger sizes just looked too big round all other areas and made me feel a bit pants. Maternity wear in my usual size fits much better.
I imagine I'll end up with a bit of both though as maternity choice is so pants!!Officially Mrs B as of March 2013

So I was successful on my shopping trip yesterday in extending the life of my normal clothes a bit longer - went to a haberdashery and found a rigid fabric button hole extender (it has a button you put into the button hole on your trousers and then two button holes - one inch or two inches to extend). It seems to work better for me than the hair-tie method which was too much and making my trousers sit too low. Also feels more secure! Hoping this will last until the end of the year at least! They were available in a few different colours and fabrics (including blue denim) so quite a good choice. I also bought a few cheap long stretchy camisoles to make sure my flies are always covered.
Midwife appointment went well. Had a blood test and urine test. Was told I had indicators in my blood that suggested I was in starvation mode! - not really surprised given the last few weeks but I think I'm back up to around 75% of my usual daily calories now. Scared of overdoing it, so not sure how long it will take me to get back up to 100%. Am only 2lb down from my weight at 4 weeks though so not too bad. Booked in for another blood test in two weeks and apparently I should get a scan appointment in the post.
Is anyone else self-employed? I really find it's a PITA that the appointment times are so inflexible; that the scan will just be allocated to me at the hospital's convenience and my inconvenience. I will have to effectively take unpaid time off work to attend and when my current client has a lot of work for me to do it's a pain for them as well and possibly makes me seem unreliable. I would gladly pay to have an evening or weekend appointment to avoid this but of course there is no such flexibility in the system. I don't think it'll be that long until I have to confess my condition (!) Really hoping they value me enough not to replace me as I don't fancy another search for work (with an impending deadline) at this stage.
Anyway, enough of that, it is how it is. I'm feeling a bit better each day which is good. Hoping I'm back on top form by Christmas as I have quite a lot planned socially. Will also be great when I can tell the world after the scan as I'm finding it really tough keeping it secret!Cleared my credit card debt of £7123.58 in a year using YNAB! Debt free date 04/12/2015.
Enjoying sending hundreds of pounds a month to savings rather than debt repayment!0 -
snowscreamer- I was with my midwife when she booked my scan over the phone, so actually she was pretty good with dates/times. I'm not self-employed, but had some non negotiable commitments. I got my next scan appointment today and it's for 4pm, so again not so bad. Maybe you could ring the antenatal clinic and ask for the first/last appointment?
I had my dating scan this afternoon. All went well and it was lovely to see it again. It was very wriggly and so different to at 10 weeks! The photo at 10 weeks is better though. It has grown from 31mm to 77mm in 3.5 weeks! They've moved my due date forward to 20th May now, which puts me at 13+5. Consultant appointment was a bit of a waste of time, it was the registrar I saw and she just prescribed a higher dose of folic acid as there is family history of cleft palate. But looking online there is pretty much no evidence for it helping, and if there is it is earlier on in pregnancy. But it felt like she had to say/do something. Got another appointment at 20 weeks.
I feel like I have now outgrown this thread, so will move on to the next one. Obviously I'll still lurk and look forward to seeing you all over the in the next few weeks! Hope everyone carries on doing ok and the nausea passes soon. Second trimester for me already is so much better!0 -
Glad you both had good scans, Vanilla and Penguin!
Can't believe it's grown so much, Penguin - that's amazing! Argh, can't wait nowFarewell, hopefully see you on the other side! X

I know, it's crazy isn't it? They grow so quick... Just had the conversation with my mum about whether she wants to be grandma, granny, nana etc. Lol.0
