I've not seen my GP, I rang them and they just referred me straight to the midwife. I've got my booking in appt at 9+6 and from what I gathered on the phone she will book my scan whilst I'm there. Two weeks tomorrow until midwife, willing time on too! April I agree until I've had the scan I don't think it will fully sink in!

    Congratulations roz :)

  • Do you get to hear the heartbeat at the booking appt? Can't believe I'm having to wait until 12 weeks!

Hey firebird- afraid not! Heartbeat isn't really detectable until much later on. In some areas they listen to it at 16 week midwife but they don't even do that here! I only had mine listened too at a consultant appointment which I hadn't even expected.

Congrats Roz! Hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy.
  • Welcome Roz and congrats! Really hope you continue symptom-free and don't end up on the road I'm currently on!

I'm with you Newthrift - so fed up of this morning (all-day) sickness lark already!!

Trying a new tack from today as the heartburn now seems to be my main issue with sickness under control eating small and regularly (and definitely first thing in the morning before teeth brushing).
Raised the bed head by 3 inches last night to make sure my stomach has less chance of releasing contents into my oesophagus. Slept well and wasn't troubled during the night so that was good. My other trick that I'm hoping will work is I'm really trying to stick to low-acid foods. As I'd much rather avoid the heartburn in the first place rather than consume my body weight in Rennie or Gaviscon. So I'm going to be trying: yoghurt and fruity granola for breakfast; nutty cereal bar for morning snack; half a sandwich washed down with a fruity yoghurt drink for lunch; half a sandwich afternoon snack and then mostly just milk in the evening as the sickness seems to prevent any sort of solids by that point. So far today it seems to be under control. Let's see how it goes... fingers crossed! *Desperately trying to remain positive*

Ah Newthrift I hope you feel better soon.

There was no mention of hearing the heartbeat at my booking in appointment, so the first real sign of confirmation from the midwife is at the scan.

Snow fingers crossed this works for you.

I am nearing the end of the first trimester, and safe to say the symptoms seem to be disappearing for me. No nausea/light headness or anything else for the past day or so. Feeling relieved. Scan is still another 12 days away, which still feels like forever. I'm starting to get a bit impatient now with it, as I want to book our sexing scan and start looking at baby things without worrying about being spotted

Hang on in there guys! Especially snow and newthrift - it's no fun feeling so poorly when you're trying to stay healthy and act natural.

I'm still feeling a bit sick all of the time I'm not eating, and all I want to eat is macaroni cheese and marmite on toast. OH doesn't think this is a pregnancy symptom though :rotfl: I've recently been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, so trying to find a balance between things I have to exclude because of pregnancy/things that don't make me feel sick and things that don't aggravate my UC symptoms has been a bit of a challenge.

Hopefully things will ease up soon. My scan is in two weeks' time, April. Just a TINY bit impatient over here too!

Just wanted to add as I sometimes lurk here that when I was pregnant with DD I fancied marmite on toasted brown bread quite often and don't usually like either. When I checked the nutritional info they were both high in folic acid. It's funny how our body knows the things that it needs.

I've not had any sickness yet. Not that I want it, but I suppose in a way it's reassuring?

I booked an early scan because of impatience and also Christmas. Everyone keeps talking about alcohol and nights out!
