I'm glad you survived the wedding Rachylou - I have one to go to in a couple of weeks too, but one of the side effects since having Poppy has been that I have become completely intolerant to wine - even sips (pre this pregnancy) made me get terrible tummy ache and feel really ill, and the bride knows this as I wasn't drinking the wine at her hen-do, so hopefully I'll get away with it at her wedding. She asked me via a facebook message last night if there was any baby news, and I diverted by talking about the wedding. :)

Obviously I don't know how close you are with your friend or any background but I find direct questioning about a pregnancy very rude. I stupidly told a lot of friends casually about TTC and so throughout this year have been asked how it's going etc and so I realised I made a huge mistake. I'm really struggling with hiding it but I need to be reassured all is well and I also have OH to consider and he wants to wait until 12 weeks. Not long now however...

Like you PinkPetalI have a night out on Saturday with friends. 3 of them will know and the rest won't (about 5). I cannot offer to drive as they will all immediately guess and probably ask. I am not the type that drives. So the plan is to go and drink lime and lemonade and just hope no-one notices. I was going to tell them as I will be nearly 11 weeks but I just can't bring myself to do it for a few reasons, mainly I want reassurance all is well, OH hasn't told his best friends and I need to respect his right to keep it quiet until after scan and finally my siblings don't know yet.

I know what you mean Rachylou. Can you get away with saying you're on a diet, and alcohol is full of calories? I suppose that means that you can't eat too much cake though. Or you could say I'm on a diet, and I'm not drinking so that I can eat the cake calories without feeling so guilty?
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Nope, that's not something I'd do either. I'm a hardcore drinker and would never give up alcohol on diets or drive on nights out etc :rotfl:

We are not doing food at all, just drinks and so I will just have to get drinks that look like alcohol and avoid anyone going to the bar for me or at the same time as me (except the 3 that know)

Wow what amazing news! Congratulations. I'll keep my fingers crossed that they give you your early scan so you can have a little bit of reassurance.

I'm glad everyone was so pleased with your news. There is something lovely about parents being in on the secret. If they are close trusted friends that will guess anyway it might make it easier to just tell them.

7+3 today. Even though my booking in isn't until the 20th I had letter through from the local hospital with my scan date. That makes the decision whether to register at the hospital nearest the current house or new house easy lol. Guess I will be transferring once we move. I don't mind too much as I liked my experience of having my first at my nearest hospital.

I've actually been feeling a lot less poorly and nausious which although feels better is making me a little nervous. Because my booking in is at 9 weeks I am hoping the midwife might use the doppler to hear the heart beat. My baby book says a doppler should pick it up at that point so keeping my fingers crossed.

Rachylou- I'm known to have a few drinks on a night out (well up until December I was anyway) and my excuses before I told people (and I waited till I was over 20 weeks before I told most people) were toothache so on antibiotics that I couldn't drive on, such a busy hectic day the next day (including having to be up in a fit state to drive) and my other excuse was that my stomach (hiatus hernia and ibs) had been playing up so much lately that I had noticed alcohol made it worst so i was having a bit of a break. I found having an excuse helped because that meant when someone insisted on getting me a drink I didn't have to worry they would buy me a vodka or something.

Rachy I'm with you on the rude people - I can't believe how brazen people are these days, I put that I was having a quiet weekend on Twitter last weekend and an acquaintance actually private messaged me to say "quiet weekend, that's not like you... anything to tell us?!"... haha can you believe it. I would never dream of asking someone that now, after what we've all been through on here with TTC and complications.

I just found at the wedding I went to that making sure I had a slice of lemon or lime in any drinks I had made it look like booze lol!

Vicvics don't worry about lack of symptoms etc, every preg is different and you are probably just lucky! I feel a little better today but think its the liquid iron I've been having, Spatone, the midwife recommended it for energy.

Have a great day all x

    Hey everyone!

Congrats Mouse! So happy to read your news.

Just back from our wedding/holiday. We truly had the time of our lives.

I had quite a lot of bleeding the day before we flew (we were staying at an airport hotel so there wasn't a lot we could do). It was post-sex, and I am hoping that it was nothing serious, but it has meant we've had a worrying few weeks when we were away, though we've tried to put it to the back of our minds as much as possible. All symptoms seemed to stop after that too. However, the day after the wedding they all returned with a vengeance and I spend the entire day with my head in the toilet. Guessing I was just running on adrenaline before the wedding.

Other than sickness, I am having problems with food. I wasted so much whilst we were away, it was embarrassing. I feel really hungry, like I could eat a horse, and then I am full after half a bowl of soup. I really love food and cooking (and eating...) so this is really bizarre for me!

Finally got our booking appointment tomorrow, feels really late compared to everyone else. Looking forward to it.

Tinks - So glad you had a lovely wedding/holiday. I've been experiencing the same starving hunger then small appetite when it comes to eating time as well. Really annoying, especially as at the weekend we ordered a chinese and I couldn't even eat half of my usual portion :( Keeping my fingers crossed it helps control the weight gain though :D

My back is killing me today. Was cleaning the bathroom and was really struggling. Now sat chilling out on the sofa with a hot water bottle. I keep having to take it off because the weather is warm anyway but just needed something to soothe the pain a little. Its working wonders.

Congratulations on the wedding :) Sorry to hear about the bleeding, that must have been worrying.

I had the same with food, if we ate too late I just couldn't eat... I ended up eating before DH got home some days as I knew I just wouldn't be able to otherwise. I also had to eat as soon as I felt hungry otherwise I would feel horrendous for the rest of the day. I was almost constantly grazing for a while! Just eat what you can, when you can and take vitamins. Baby will take all they need don't worry! Hope you get your appetite back soon x
