Good luck with the booking in appointment Rachy! I'm sure it will all feel much more real after that!

I sent my maternity self-referral form in 3 and a half weeks ago, had hoped I would have had my booking in appt through by now but it doesn't look like they do anything quickly!

Got our private scan tomorrow, I'm getting quite nervous about it now but really trying to not even think about it.

I'm also getting nervous about telling my parents about the pregnancy. I'm almost 30 and have been with my partner over 10 years, but still cringing at the fact that they're now going to know that I'm definitely not a virgin bride :rotfl:

Good morning. I need to catch up on a few days worth of posts!

I had my 12 week scan/consultant appointment through the post yesterday. 6th June. I'll be 13+2 which feels like forever away!

As others have said Rachylou you'll need a urine sample at every single appointment you go to now. They'll also take a blood sample. My midwife has just called to tell me I'm anaemic already which explains my exhaustion for the last few weeks (my booking in app was end of April).

I took my partner along and they ask lots of intimate personal history regarding piercings, surgeries, stds, immunisations, smoking, drinking, and then test your CO levels (in case you're a secret smoker). Then they want the medical history of you, your partner, and both your parents and siblings (rather than all your aunts, uncle's and grandparents too) as these are relevant to the baby. Plus they weigh you and measure your height. At the end you get your maternity notes and you bring these to every appointment until the labour is done, then they get taken away (so don't keep scan pics in their as you might lose them).

My midwife seemed critical of me being on Omeprazole which i thought was a cheek as she didn't even ask how severe my symptoms were so i'm holding off on judgement for now. However with my first I never saw the same person twice so it might not matter.

I still have all my maternity notes.. we are sent them with the booking appointment as there are sections to fill out before the appointment.
They don't routinely check CO here. There is quite a lot of variance on area.

CO is a new check, but I don't know how new it is.

Good luck with the scan Tinks.

Hope it was just a blip too MancMama.

    Thanks for thinking of me.

I ended up with the internal scan and got a much clearer view that way. Heard babies heartbeat and it was the most surreal experience of my life - felt like I was watching another persons scan on the telly! All is fine though, thankfully, but not sure it's made it feel anymore real! If anyone is considering a private early scan I would definitely recommend it, just for reassurance. We were able to record the babies heartbeat on our phones too, can't stop listening to it!

Feeling really sick today, almost threw up in the shower this morning which was lovely.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I am going on my own as OH away and we figured this one wasn't very important for him to attend as it would be just routine questions.

I have had really bad back pain most of the weekend, woke up on Friday night in pain with it and was really anxious about it. I took Paracetamol and it eased and seems fine today. FIL is a GP and he said it is not a normal symptom to be that bad and Codeine should be okay to take. I am hoping it isn't a permanent fixture as it was so awful. No other symptoms apart from mild nausea but I just eat non-stop to help that :rotfl:

Tinks - I hate not being married first, it was our plan but sometimes you just have to change your plans to fit in with what works. A wedding can be done anytime but a baby can't.

Lovely to hear about your scan too :)
