Feeling rubbish today and not helped by someone at work telling me it was noticed I was off yesterday morning and someone wondered out loud if I was preg again... I really don't want to feel like people are watching and wondering for the next 6 weeks... its got me all worked up!! I'm not ready to tell and people should leave me alone after last time!

My hand was forced to tell work early due to the nature of my job (teacher in prison). It's not safe to work with the type of prisoners I do when pregnant and our h&s rules state we have to inform asap. I had hoped to keep it between me and manager and my LSA, but my manager removed me from teaching asap and there was no other way to explain it. So all my colleagues knew from 6 weeks. Initially I/we didn't want anyone to know after last time, but it actually was really useful to have some lovely colleagues to talk to about my worries and not to have to hide my symptoms (there were 7 locked doors to get to the loo! :rotfl:).

It's entirely your choice whether you tell anyone, but sadly you can't stop people gossiping! We didn't tell anyone else other than my work and OH's boss until our 12 week scan.

Say 'Oh!' .. don't respond with anything that would give anything away. Or you could simply say 'after what happened when I was pregnant you'd think people had better things to do than gossip.. how much upset could stuff like that cause? My days off are of no concern to anyone but HR/boss.. as it happens, I was at dentist/dr/funeral/anything'

Finally got our booking appointment through today, two days after we get back from our 'weddingmoon'. My OH will still be off work so perfect timing for us as I didn't fancy going alone. Looking forward to getting the ball rolling!

Thanks all, I went for the "Wow I wish my life was as interesting as everyone thinks it is, I was at the dentist" line... I know I can't stop people wondering but I'll just have to try and put it out of my head as best as I can. If all goes to plan they'll all know soon enough I guess.

Good news on getting your booking in Tinks, wow when are you jetting off? I can't imagine how utterly exciting this all is for you both Xx

Well done on thinking on your feet MancMama, I would have crumbled and blurted out the truth then regretted it later. People are so inconsiderate!

We fly on Monday! We've bought 'only the best parents get upgraded to grandparents' cards to give to both sets of parents when we're away as my OH's family all live quite far from us and we only see them a couple of times a year. Looks set to be quite a memorable trip if everything goes to plan.

Congrats Vicsvics! Brilliant to see you over here!!

Aw Tinks, those cards sound lovely! We were trying to think of a good way to tell our parents...thought we might do it on fathers day but not worked out any details.

Another rough day for me today...have had to eat like a pig to stop the nausea. Had a couple of dizzy spells today as well which was not fun. Luckily I work in the same company as the husband so I have him to go to and haven't had to tell anyone just yet!

I had to leave work early today due to IBS pain. I obviously had a half day yesterday too. However I very much doubt anyone will bat an eyelid. They are quite nosey but I am open about my IBS and it usually shuts them up. I can't believe the amount of people that think it is okay to ask if someone if they are pregnant, it is so thoughtless and rude.

We plan to tell my mam with a card. It has a stork on the front carrying a baby saying 'New Grandchild'. I obviously want her to open this in front of me but I know she will ask what it is before that. Trying to keep a straight face will be tough. I have two options:

    1. Pretend it's an invite from one of my best friends to her daughter's christening.

    2. Put it in an envelope marked urgent and looking official with potential stamp etc and hope that she cares enough to open it in front of me (her post is delivered to my address so this is do-able)

Lovely to hear everyone's announcement ideas! A Father's Day announcement sounds great Pink! When are you hoping to tell your Mum Rachy? I'm finding it really hard keeping it from my parents, especially my Mum as I speak to her most days. I've found myself avoiding going to their house just so I can't trip myself up!
