Less than 12 weeks pregnant club! Part 4!!

Brown blood could have been sitting around inside for the last 3-4 weeks from implantation, it doesn't have to have occured in the last few days.. implantation occurs about a week after conception and while you may not have bled then doesn't mean no blood was lost. Often it forms a small clot beside the implanted embryo and it is reabsorbed, other times it is released as brown blood later on.
At 6 weeks your hormone levels increase which is why many mummies start with morning sickness/nausea then. This also shifts any small clots as the blood flow and mucus production to the uterus and reproductive system is increased to sustain the pregnancy.
At 10 weeks the placenta starts taking over and there can be a small amount of brown or reddish bleeding then from blood vessels not quite ready for their purpose.. again it isn't always something to worry about.
Cramping is normal throughout pregnancy so unless it is incredibly painful it isn't really any indicator or anything. Even a heavy bleed doesn't always mean the end.
It could be something, but it could also be nothing.. One thing I have realised is worrying about stuff you have no control over is futile.. just take it easy over the weekend (no reason but it's a good excuse) Whatever you do or do not do will not make the slightest bit of difference to the outcome.. these things just happen sometimes without explanation.
I've spent 7 months moaning.. just go with it.. embrace the mood swings!! Monday will be here before you know it!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Pigpen you are an amazing person and a wonderful resource - thank you so much for the support. I think you're right, a chilled weekend is on the cards and let's see what the scan brings.
Can't thank you enough XMancMama4 (35) TTC since Apr 15, MMC Dec 15, Our Rainbow Baby Charlie arrived Dec 16 :heart2:0 -
Bless you MancMama. Some fantastic insight and advice from Pigpen so I hope this eases your mind.
I must say there is not much support out there for people under 12 weeks. I have been panicking about bleeding, thinking I literally wouldn't know what to do or where to go. Luckily I work in a hospital but we are always being told not to use A & E if we can help it. Hopefully I won't have to do anything like this.
To be honest, I don't even know what to expect from Monday's appointment. Do I take a water sample? Am I expected to know where I want to give birth? Other than ringing up to ask for an appointment, I've just had to read online and in a book but obviously every area is different in what they offer0 -
Hope your feeling a bit better Manc. Amazing advice from pigpen - so helpful!
Rachy, is it your booking in app on Monday? When I spoke to my GP about this she said it generally lasts about 45 mins and a number of things will happen. You'll give blood for the screening tests etc, the midwife will ask about you and your partners medical history, probably give you some advice on eating and vitamins. My doc also said they sometimes do a smear test if it's been a while since your last one...but not always. I wasn't told to take any samples, maybe just drink some water before hand in case it's needed!!0 -
Rachy you will get used to the fact that every appointment they will want a wee sample.0

Thanks PinkPetal, yes it is my booking in appt
I'm planning to take a water sample with me as I probably couldn't do it on demand. Better being prepared.0 -
I've just done it a lot.. I dont know why they don't give you this information to start with .. it would be so much better than just saying 'we don't know' and leaving you to worry.. Obviously there is never a guarantee everything is ok but it isn't hard to give someone hope rather than anxiety.
Pink.. booking visits are usually a good hour and a half if not more. I was in over 2 hours this time! and they no longer do smears while you are pregnant. it often gives false results due to the hormonal changes.. they stopped them about 5 years ago if not more! and they will want urine and blood from you so take an arm
Rachy they will want a second urine sample anyway.. they send one off to check for infection, though they do let you take that one and drop in at your GP if necessary... you won't believe how obsessed these people are with blood and urine! lolLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

they often are because they don't do the bookings any more.. but if you ask when you phone to make the booking appointment they will tell you what you need to take and what to expect they are usually pretty good.
Smears are done 3 months after the birth if you are due one.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Hi Rachy, good luck for booking in. It's as the others have said, they take blood, a urine sample, ask a load of questions about you and OH, then the usual are you taking folic? etc. At my booking in last time I was given the 12 week scan date too. It's quite a boring appointment but also exciting to get the ball rolling properly.
