MancMama you might as well call them and try, they can only say no!

I think we've decided to definitely get an early scan but will probably just pay for it privately. I've looked online and there's a few places near us charging £40-100 so I just need to do some research!

The main reason for doing it is that I just want to tell our parents but I want some reassurance first. Planning to do it when we get back from hols at the end of May and I should be just over 9 weeks then.

We paid for a private scan at 9 weeks, it was £39 and definitely worth it, although we still didn't tell anyone until after 12 weeks. Honestly, I wouldn't have liked to pay more than £50 because whilst it's reassuring you can see very little at that stage. I think it would be better to wait until after 8/9 weeks if you can.

We could see the yolk sac, baby with some little movement and a heartbeat at 9 weeks.
  • Good news about the scan JustMe and congrats to moving up a thread :j

Welcome Pink Magpie. One piece of advice I was kept being given last year was that be prepared for it happening after the first try as it is quite common. Two workmates got caught like that, which is always great news but a big shock. This is why we waited until after New Year as I wanted to relax and drink over Christmas.

Yeah, knew it was very possible, you always just tell yourself it will take a few months! :) With my first, it took us about 3 months, so was expecting the same.

I don't know about anyone else but I feel huge already. I know they say you show more quickly with your second. I've got exactly a month (9th June) when we have our scan, and I am just wishing the time away. I thought the 2ww was long enough! :rotfl:

5+4... days are crawling!! I'm determined to enjoy every day though this week - I read a short book about pregnancy after loss this weekend and it did hit home a bit for me. The lady in it has a mantra that I'm trying to use...

"I deserve this. It is ok to dream. It is ok to hope. Pregnancy can and will be beautiful - for as many days as that may be".

I know that's bit happy clappy but its actually true - I do deserve to hope and dream x

I called the EPU to see what they'd say about an early scan... they've offered me one on Monday (16th) at 9am... I will be 6+4 then by my dates. I'm not even sure if they will be able to see anything but I said yes anyhow. At least I will know things are in the right place? And hopeful that if they can't see anything I will be asked back the week after?

    Mild nerves kicking in already...

Manc.. I had a visible HB with one of mine at 5+3 ... it depends on what resolution they use.. they will probably want the dildocam in though.. Others I have had a fetal pole/yolk sac visible at 6+ weeks but no hb or 'baby' to be seen. A couple they have not seen anything but a sac until over 7 weeks.. with my 5 y/o they said I had an empty sac at 6+3 but the gynae ward was absolutely rammed so they would give me another appointment in a weeks time and refer for ERPC after that one as the bleeding had settled and assured me the pregnancy wasn't viable.. when they did the scan a week later there was Squeak merrily bopping away.. so if they see nothing it doesn't mean they won't a week later.

    Dildocam made me LOL!

Our private scan is on Saturday and I will be 6+5 so very similar to you Manc. Not expecting to see much at all but it was the only chance we had to get booked in before we go away.

    OMG, Dildocam made me

I'm 6+1 today. Had a dizzy and near fainting episode today. It was awful. Had low pelvic pain and back ache most of the morning. Went to toilet just before lunch (nothing out of ordinary happened). Then I went back to my seat and just came over all funny. The room was spinning as if I was about to faint. Felt really weak. No-one at work knows except the girl I share with (day off) and another who is in another building but I called for support. I sat for about five minutes and then headed outside for fresh air, bought some crisps and water en route and sat down outside. Fell better in minutes. My friend met me and thinks it was down to not eating enough, I thought I was doing okay but she thinks I need more but also think the heat today didn't help.

Feel fine now but got feet up and chilling out regardless. Early night on the cards too.

Aww Rachy that sounds rotten, glad you are feeling better - its getting harder and harder to eat isn't it?! I have to make myself have something regularly but just don't fancy anything!! The thought of cooking anything in this heat as well... no chance haha.

I feel rotten today, tired and queasy. I love it! Bring it on x
