I never realised how much of a caffeine addict I was until now...soooooo sleepy at work..!

Tiredness is a symptom of the first and last trimesters. Right now your body is increasing your blood vulume by 50%, making the baby and making the placenta. Once the placenta is complete you'll start to have more energy. My OH read a book about what to expect as an expectant dad and it said at this stage to do more housework as their partner's body is doing more work when sitting down than theirs is at the gym.

Hope you feel better soon Rachy!

Kynthia you must give us the name of the book! I'd love to buy it for my OH!

I managed to get through to the midwife team on my first attempt so I now have my first appointment on 20th May and then my scan on 20th June! So happy to have it all sorted. Although I go on hols on 21st May for a week so I'm going to have to come up with an excuse to get the Friday afternoon off as well!

It's The Expectant Dad's Survival Guide by Rob Kemp. It's quite good as takes them through the pregnancy and gives them advice about the labour and is packed full of information but is written by another man with some funny anecdotes. Plus as the chapters go through the months of the pregnancy it can be read gradually. However it's looking a little dated now as it was published in 2010, so you might want to look for something similar.

Told DH about him having to do more house work. He didn't look impressed :rotfl: To be fair he has been doing more when I'm lacking energy.

I've cut out all caffeinated tea, coffee and cokes. Mostly so it doesn't matter so much about how much chocolate I eat. :rotfl:

Just over 24 hours til the scan. Woke up worried about it this morning, so who knows how I'll sleep tonight.

morning all! sorry Ive not been on for a while, hope everyone is doing well - Ive had a couple of manic weeks moving house, cleaning so we get back the deposit and working lol!

OH keeps telling me not to over do it - I have a new phrase of 'I'm pregnant, not disabled'! it still feels strange saying it - OH keeps asking if I really am and that its not just a dream!

had a little mini panic yesterday - although Im only 5 weeks Im already thinking of when Im full term and my panic was shoes!! how am I going to tie shoelaces?!?! lol!!

still keep getting the occasional period like pain but I've found moving about helps stretch out the pain - gives me an excuse to clean the house rather than sat watching tv!

I have never had an issue with shoe tying or putting my socks on or painting my toe nails or shavng legs.. I have gained up to 5.5 stone so not tiny little bumps.. you just adjust your position until you can manage it easily.. I have a breather between each shoe but getting it done is so quick its really not an issue. I think anyone who says they have issues doing these things is milking it a bit ;) .. not that I blame them!

I've also had nasty PGP with the last 4 so moving is severely restricted.. I found a way! I did wear zip up boots until recently.. I now have buckle fastening shoes which are more awkward as they take longer to do.. looking forward to better weather and pumps! Putting my knickers on is the hardest thing ever.

Goodness knows how but some people manage to shave the bits they cannot see!

I feel a bit queasy today which I am embracing! Into week 6 we go...told a couple of work people today as may need cover for appointments and they were so lovely. One even said she had goosebumps!
