  • Hi all,

Mixed emotions from our scan yesterday. We saw it having a wriggle and waving an arm (hubby said it did that because it new about the dream I had lol). That was the good bit, the not so good bit was the fact that the measured me at about 10 + 6 (so 11 weeks today). I was a little disappointed as it means that I am not as far as I thought so I was wondering if it's OK to stay here for a bit longer if you guys will still have me? My due date has been pushed back to 17th of November, and I also get to go back in a couple of weeks to have another scan so that they can do all the measurements etc.

Mrs_Rachel the main thing is you saw your lovely baby and you get another chance in a couple of weeks. Whether you are 11 or 13 weeks makes very little difference at the end as I've known people to suddenly give birth at 35 weeks and others that have to be induced with one holding out until 43 weeks! So feel free to stay here a couple more weeks.

I hate feeling ill but worry when I don't feel 'ill enough'. The first trimester is a crazy stressful time so I can't wait for the the second. You feel great, get to tell everyone, feel your baby kick and start to get a bump. I can't wait!

  • Hi all

Not much to report from me. No symptoms at all really apart from period type pain, the twinges I get are intermittent.

Felt a bit nauseous this morning but that isn't a new symptom and happens alot in the car.

I bought Seven Seas pregnancy vitamins that include 400 mg of Folic Acid - should I take the usual 400 mg tablet as well? Is 800mg too much? I haven't so far.

Welcome MancMama! Lovely to see you over on this thread!

I'm the same just now, praying it sticks and wondering how soon I can get a scan...I'm only 5 weeks tomorrow! I have the docs on Wednesday so I'll see what happens from there!

Rachy - no idea about the folic acid. I stopped taking my FA supplement when I started taking pregnacare, I just assumed that would be enough but I'd be interested to hear if I should continue taking both!

Thanks pink - I already know I am going to be a nightmare - must try and relax and attempt to enjoy it all! I'm going to call the doctors in a sec on my lunch and get in next week hopefully. When I had my mmc in Dec the EPU said next time I could go in for a reassurance scan so hopeful of that around 6/7 weeks.

Rachy I bought those Seven Seas vits too this morning so also wondering if I need extra folic or anything else.

  • Welcome MancMama :j:j

Hopefully someone can answer us on the vitamin question

My friend who had a MC last year was able to get an early scan on her current pregnancy so they must offer it (shes over 20 weeks now :)).

What I wonder though, and apologies if this is a very difficult and inappropriate question, but does an early scan help at all in terms of knowing all is okay and it won't end in MC? I certainly would love some reassurance as I'm terrified of it, as are most I imagine but I can't see me being able to get one unless I pay and I don't know if it will promise any reassurance?

    knock-knock!! hi all!

judging by the trying to conceive thread I think me and Mancmama are the same dates! I feel like Im stalking you lol!!

Im waiting to get an appointment from the doctors but because I moved house last week Ive had to register with a new one so will do the pregnancy paperwork once the files have come from my old docs have transferred as it would be my luck they will get lost!

I too keep getting period like pains and keep thinking the worst after my MC a few years back but I keep reminding myself that its my womb stretching and settling itself ready for the next few months to grow baby!

here's to a happy, healthy pregnancy to all of us!! x

No, they prescribe higher doses for people who have had a baby with previous neural tube defects.. it is fine to take both but probably not necessary

Seeing a heartbeat does seem to reduce the risk of MC which is odd .. nerd link.. https://sites.google.com/site/miscarriageresearch/miscarriage-general

Here, you can ask all you like but they won't let you have one unless you are bleeding and even then you have hoops to jump through.. I didnt get one with this one or my 4 y/o despite bleeding... plus usually a heartbeat cannot be seen until about 7 weeks (one of mine was 5+3 though so it does depend on where they are I guess).. it depends on how sympathetic your GP is.. though some EPU's you can self refer, it may be worth calling to ask.
