  • Still nothing in the post :(

There goes any hope of having it this week. Oh well. It'll just have to be inconvenient and we'll work around it.

She was worried a bit yesterday night as she didn't feel any nausea at all, as if the morning sickness had stopped. She also said she had some discharge with a teeny weeny little bit of what could have been very pale brown in it..

I don't think that's really any cause for concern. Morning sickness again today anyway.

I swear that she's starting to show, just a little bit. She's very slim so it may be noticeable sooner. Exciting!

We had a talk about telling people again, it turns out that telling my parents after booking appointment was just a compromise because I'd wanted to tell them straight away. She doesn't want anyone to know until after scan.

Afraid of disappointing people. She's thinking about it though. My reasoning was that I want to be able to just call them and they'll then contact work for us. No idea what state I'd be in if it happened again this time.

  • My symptoms are quite minimal which does make me worry a little bit, but I'm just hoping I'm like my mum who never had sickness during any of her pregnancies. I haven't felt sick for a while either, until yesterday and this morning. Luckily this morning obese able to stay in bed a bit longer as the roads are lovely and quiet.

Freddie, I understand how your wife feels, that's partly why we are keeping quiet, the people that do know, especially my sister, are so supportive that it feels a nice balance at the moment.
  • Small amount of pink/brown tinged discharge today. Again nothing to worry about, everything else as usual.

But still no notes and appointment letter. It is exactly 2 weeks tomorrow so if we don't get anything with the post tomorrow we'll cal up and make sure they haven't lost the referral.

main concern is just getting scan booked. Most of the booking appointment was pointless for us last time. They took bloods, did height and weight etc. Gave us leaflets and stuff, all fine. Booked scan.

But by far the longest part of it was sitting and answering questions that were exact replicas of the information we'd already filled in before the appointment.

  • Hope you get your booking in date today Freddie.

I found the booking in a bit boring this time as I had already had one last time, but I've also just realised we discussed a lot more last time, including ante natal classes and a water birth, this time it was just just taking details etc.

I'm starting to feel a bit nervous now, my mmc was at 10 weeks last time, and now I'm around ten weeks (well my edd date makes me 11 but I'm going to be at least later than that) so every little niggle or pain I'm worrying. I don't actually feel as anxious as I did last time, but I just feel I can't get too excited. Only 12 sleeps till I will know if all is ok.

Hope that all is ok ThinkPink

Understand the worry completely. Even though I said in my last post that the discharge was 'nothing to worry about'. I still worried when she first said it and spent ages reading online to check.

She panicked even just the other night because she didn't have any nausea. But then of course it started again the next day.

It is a scary time and it feels like such a long wait between the BFP and then finding out if everything's ok. It's the frustration of there being so little we can actually do! Apart from try in vain to interpret all the symptoms and try if possible to just keep your mind off it.

I'm sure one day they'll have cheap handheld ultrasound scanners that you can use at home and stream to your TV.

    (I'm still ill :( )

  • Hope everyone is well

Freddie - Sending positive vibes to you and your wife. Hope your scan appointment comes soon. Hope you feel better soon.
I love the idea of the handheld scanner at home, I think it would be the only channel on in our house right now.

I'm still anxiously waiting for my first appointment and it feels like an eternity ago since I found out I was BFP.

My nausea has come on quite out of the blue, I find that sipping ginger tea has helped slightly.

It's weird; I can go from ravenously hungry to nauseous throughout the course of the day. I'm hoping that's a good sign.
That voice in your head that says you can’t do this is a LIAR!

  • Nothing in post again, so I called the direct access referral number multiple times, took forever to get through. It wasn't busy, just nobody answering!

They gave me a number to call to ask if they had a record of our online referral.

Again took ages to get through.

Turned out they didn't have any record of it.

Called the direct access number again...and took even longer to get through, phone cut out twice because I'd been listening to the ring tone for 7 minutes.

    Finally made referral.

    3 hours after starting!!!

They said should get it for the Booking appointment in week 8 - 11....
Hopefully sooner rather than later, we MUST have an early enough scan weeks 11-12.

We'll phone the hospital directly if needs be, if it looks like the booking appointment will be too late.

Glad you finally got through Freddie, good job you called in the end.

First_Trouble, I've been eating so much! I don't think I've put on any weight though, I don't weigh myself much but am on the lower side of what I usually am which is bizarre.

ThinkPink I hope the next 12 days go quickly for you. I think it's difficult to find the balance between getting excited and holding back.

Didn't fancy anything sweet a couple of weeks ago but eyeing up chocolate the last couple of days, and carbs still. Lots of carbs.

I've had the odd queasy feeling but usually if I've had something to eat that's quite strong/rich/too bigger portion. I've still been having ginger cordial and plain crackers through the day, and dry toast for breakfast, just to try and be on the safe side.

Booking in on Monday, totally new to me so guessing it's will cover a lot of health/family history questions. Do you normally get bloods taken at your first one? Really hoping I get a scan date very soon so I can try and fit it around work.

Hope everyone else is doing well!
  • Did you get a booklet with a section to fill in Becky? We got it with our appointment letter last time.

Had to fill that in before appointment.

They were really busy when we went, so there were extra staff who wouldn't normally be there. They'd run out of bounty packs.

One person gave us leaflets with info about antenatal classes etc.

Then we saw the nurse who weighed, measured height, blood pressure and gave her a carbon monoxide breath test.

Then we saw the midwife, who wasn't the one we would have had later on, she was just covering. She asked her questions and put the answers in on computer system.

Then she had bloods taken to check iron levels etc.

She phoned up the hospital and booked our scan, checked we were happy with the date and time. (Don't think they do this everywhere, people seem to just get them in the post)

    Then we left.

    She's completely gone off fish!

  • At my booking in I just saw the midwife. She went through a pack which contains all my maternity notes, and I have to take to all appointments including scans, she took my details, including weight, height etc then went through loads of medical stuff and took my oh family medical history too. She then took blood and gave me a bounty pack, I think that was about it. She then sent the info to the scan department who sent me my scan date a week later.

Glad you finally got somewhere with the booking in appointment, still frustrating that you still haven't actually got a date though.
