  • Got my scan date, and it's not ideal at all! Need to ring up tomorrow and see when else they could fit me in, but that week is very limiting for when both myself and oh are free. If it comes to it ill have to go when they have booked me in for, but if it's bad news I will either have to paint a smile on my face and go to college (in the evening) or risk really annoying my group and not being able to prepare for a presentation I have the following week! Fingers crossed they can change it, at the moment it's the 29th, but ideally I want it on the 2nd!
  • Hope you're able to get the date you want ThinkPink

  • Have you had your booking in date yet Freddie?

I'm off tomorrow so ill ring them first thing. I thought it was going to be difficult enough fitting it in my calendar, I hadn't taken into account that I also needed to fit it in with oh and his work too!

Not yet, it's not the end of the world if it can't be this week, just a more of a faff to organise with work etc.

Also thought that the earlier we see them the sooner we get scan booked.

I assumed that we'd be given a higher priority because we've got higher risk due to what happened last time. Could be wrong though.
Would rather have the scan closer to 11 weeks, as they can do NT as well as see if everything is as it should be.

I'm still not well, it's bacterial tonsillitis. Obviously hit me after the flu when my immune system was weakened. I woke up 2 hours ago and couldn't get back to sleep, came down stairs. Throat really painful, honey and lemon is my friend.

Just pleased that 'touch wood' she doesn't seem to have caught anything, despite me being ill for the last 2-3 weeks. That was what I was most worried about!

We haven't actually been able to have a proper cuddle or kiss since finding out she was pregnant because of this bloody illness!

Oh that sounds miserable Freddie. I hope you're on the mend soon.

Good luck getting the date changed ThinkPink. I'd want to change it if I was in your circumstances. It's better to plan for how you might be feeling

  • Managed to change my scan to the day I wanted, and was able to get a late afternoon appointment so feeling a bit relieved I was able to get that sorted.

Now just need to hope the next two weeks go quickly as I just want to know all is ok. Feeling very mixed emotions about it at the moment.

Sorry to hear your still unwell Freddie hope you start getting better soon.

Hope you can get your appointment changed ThinkPink

I have my appointment on the 24th with the GP but not sure if it's just for the referral to midwife.

We have told all our immediate family and they are over the moon, they have been told to keep it a secret until we are further along and can make a proper announcement. We told his mum that we were moving 360 odd miles away, I think it softened the blow. She knows that we will come and visit as often as possible and she is always welcome at ours.

Things are ticking along for the big move as well, we finally have a house to move into. Just need to sort out the packing now.
That voice in your head that says you can’t do this is a LIAR!

I hope you're feeling better soon Freddie, and good news on the scan date being changed ThinkPink!

How long until you move First_Trouble?

We still haven't told anybody. I'm visiting family later this week and won't be seeing them all until Summer again, part of me wants to tell them but I think I'd rather not have the fuss right now, especially when it's so early on.

I feel like I'm going to overdose on sugar with the amount of honey and lemon I've been consuming!

Think the post came early but only junk. My lovely lady is having a nap. Her symptoms are so much stronger than last time, hoping that's a good sign.

Anyone see the BBC News thing saying about the cost of raising a child from 0-21? Apparently £10,000 in first 12 months alone...I'm not sure if they included loss of income through maternity leave in that figure but I doubt it. That's insane!

Its like its a competition to see who can spend the most on their kids...as if that somehow makes them happier. It's all about the parents and their image, nothing whatever to do with the children!
