That's good ThinkPink. The midwife we had at our first booking appointment came across as a bit grumpy and judgemental, which isn't really what you want.
The midwives at the hospital after the scan were really good though.
Waiting on the letter with the booking appointment. It's barely been anytime at all but feeling really impatient. Time is dragging!
Can't help but keep feeling worried about it. Excited too, but still worried, hoping that everything will be alright.
Last time we were just worried about turning up for the scan and them finding nothing there. Weren't expecting anything else, especially not a neural tube defect, we'd been so careful about making sure she was taking folic acid for plenty of time before.
We're at the time now when the babies neural tube closes, so it was this time 9 months ago that our first pregnancy had gone wrong. But couldn't find out til 6 weeks later.
There is still a chance it could happen again, trying to be positive by reminding ourselves that the chance of it is very very low, especially with now taking the really high dose of Folic Acid which she's been taking for 6 months!
Just keep coming back to...'well it happened the first time, and that was also a 1 in a 1000 chance'. So not really finding much encouragement from numbers.
Has to be such an agonisingly long wait to find out!Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

Hello,
Congratulations to everyone who's had BFPs recently.
Hope it's okay to join over here now. I've just got my first BFP after over 5 years of TTC and a 2nd round of IVF. Officially in disbelief and now realising I know nothing about this bit!Sealed Pot Challenge #9550 -
Congratulations Isla!
I was having nosy at the TTC 12m+ thread yesterday and spotted your good news.
So pleased for you.
In our area, you can self refer directly to the maternity hospital and they then sort you a booking appointment with a midwife at the nearest clinic of community hospital, which lucky for us is only a mile away.
When we went to the booking appointment the midwife phoned through to the hospital to get a scan appointment for 12 weeks and checked with us that the date and time were OK.
So it was all pretty straightforward.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

Hi all,
I have just discovered this thread, hope it's ok that I post.
My DH and I have been trying to conceive for about a year. I signed up to P1nkPad to track my fertility and every month like clockwork I my AF would appear.
So fast forward to the last week and I have been more sensitive to some smells, I have been having period cramps, an uncomfortable dull pain in my lower back, sore/tingly boobs, tiredness, acne, and my appetite went through the roof at one point (although it has now returned to normal).
I thought my body was just gearing up for a really heavy period but I am now 4 days late, this morning I took a HPT and it came back positive! For an hour I kept on checking it to make sure I was definitely reading it right lol.
I'm worried about putting all my faith into it though in case it's wrong. It all seems so surreal.
What are my next steps though do I go to my GP to get it confirmed?
Other issue is that in 4 weeks I will be moving from London to Cumbria.
Not sure how it will all work out in relation to GP's etc..
I'm really excited but not sure if I'm getting ahead of myself. If test is correct I am about 4+5 weeks.
Sorry about the long post. That voice in your head that says you can’t do this is a LIAR!

Congratulations First_Trouble and Isla!
Give your GP surgery a call and they will book you in with the midwife (usually about 8 weeks I think) or advise otherwise if you are to self refer/book another way. You should get an appointment before you move hopefully.0 -
Thanks Freddie and Beckyy! I'll get on that. I'm still in a daze to be honest.
Congratulations First_Trouble! :TSealed Pot Challenge #9550 -
In my area you have to fill out a form at the gp surgery which they then send to the midwife team and there are then midwives assigned to each surgery, mine has three assigned to it, one being the one I had last time so I'm relieved it wasn't here again!! The midwife after the booking in appointment then emails the scan team so hopefully I should have my date in a about week. My work calendar is getting quite busy though so I'm worried if they don't give me much notice ill struggle to be able to get the time off work.
Welcome to everyone who has joined in the last time, congratulations on your bfp. X0 -
Thanks ThinkPink. I've to phone my GP which I'm going to do today. I still weirdly feel like a fraud but I think that's just because of everything to get here.Sealed Pot Challenge #9550

Thanks everyone,
I did another HPT this morning just to make sure and it was definitely positive. I have phoned my GP but can't get an appointment until the 24th. so that wait is going to be excruciating!
I feel like I am constantly peeing, I don't drink any more water than I usually do, although that is still a lot, but I am awake 2-3 times during the night to go as well?! I feel like I am getting less sleep but feel more refreshed when I wake. Does anyone else get that?
On the plus side the pain in my lower back is not as bad today. That voice in your head that says you can’t do this is a LIAR!

Was hoping booking appointment letter would arrive today. It's only just a week since submitting the referral form. They did say 1-2 weeks.
Just concerned as I filled in online form rather than over phone that it could have been missed. Was hoping the appointment would be during the next week as its half term for us both.
Just can't stop thinking about it! I'm much worse than last time.
She's just feeling really tired, occasionally felt a bit sick but not too bad. Last time she didn't have morning sickness at all really.
6+4 today.
Hope you're all wellMortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)
