Less than 12 weeks pregnant club! Part 4!!

How is everybody find food at the moment? For someone who is usually constantly grazing I'm eating much less, and sweet food doesn't really appeal at all.
Eating like a horse! As always at the moment but it's still early days. It'll be interesting to see whether we're able to stick to our current menu over the next few weeks.
We started a healthy menu back in summer. She wanted to do something that made her feel like we were doing all we could to try and ensure a healthy pregnancy this time.
Lots of veg, fruit, whole meal pasta, bread, rice, and fish, one portion of salmon a week.
It's a four week menu with different meals each day, followed by a treat day at the end of the four weeks when we can have whatever we want as a meal out or takeaway or whatever we fancy.
Although we both still make healthy choices even on the treat day! I've gone right off things that I used to love because I see them as disgustingly unhealthy now. Like I'll order something at nandos and ask for a veg side...I never ever would have done that before! Or go for grilled chicken as an option over fried. Get a mcchicken sandwich instead of a big mac. Or after I've had something like a McDonald's, eating loads of raw veg afterwards!
Stopped having takeaways as you don't know what they've put in stuff. Probably 5 tablespoons of salt. Just learned how to make proper curries myself. Make a huge batch of base curry sauce that I freeze in portions and then you just add it to veg or fish with other ingredients to make different curries really quickly, and they're nice and thick thanks to the base sauce. Just has vegetables and spices in. No salt.
Do feel much better for it, even though I don't think we were unhealthy before, we're both having much more fruit and veg and far less added sugar.
As I say though. I wonder if she'll want to stick to it or if a set menu will become too rigid for her when/if she starts going off things!

Congratulations Freddie!
I should also be due in the first week of October. Wishing you both a happy and healthy 9 months
The healthy eating plan sounds great, much easier to plan in advance too.
When will you be telling family and friends?0 -
I'm rubbish at meal planning, because if I don't fancy it that day I won't eat it, I tend to decide in the morning what we will have for dinner that day! Well that was before I got my bfp, now I decide when I'm home what I want for dinner as my normally fussy tastebuds have got even more fussy!!
Symptoms seem to have eased now, not sure whether I should be worried or not, still going for the slight denial approach!!
I won't be announcing it until at least 12 weeks, until then it will just be me, oh and four very close people who know.0 -
Oh and thank you for adding me to the list Freddie.0

Congratulations Freddie!
When will you be telling family and friends?
Thank you,
I think we'll probably wait til after the booking appointment to tell parents. 12 week scan for the rest of family and friends.
We didn't tell anyone about the last pregnancy, the first mum and dad heard was when I called them after the 12 week scan to tell them she was going to have to have a termination.
Not certain whether that was the better way or not to be honest. I suppose they'd had no chance to get excited before the bad news.
Anyway will be telling them sooner this time, for OUR benefit. Can't imagine going through the scary wait til the scan without anyone to talk to about it but ourselves. We'll go mad!
The time is already going so slowly!
I filled in an online self referral form on Friday for our midwifery unit. Says we'll get a letter with booking appointment within 1-2 weeks.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

It's funny, we've been more excited and talking so much more about the future with the baby then we did before.
Last time, we kept being careful not to get too excited too soon, just in case.
But I think having gone through the worst, you realise that no matter how hard you try to protect yourself from dissapoinment, it's always going to hurt. Won't hurt any less by thinking negatively beforehand.
We've gone mad though. We've been looking up swimming lessons for children. Searching for local play areas online. Even went for a trip around our neighbourhood to look at the parks.
Can't stop talking about it! Complete opposite to last time.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

Just sneaking back to say congratulations Freddie! !!! I've been following your journey and wish you both all the best for the future.
I've been looking at baby swimming classes too, they are quite expensive, just hope I have the money on maternity to do it.0 -

I have added my name to the list0 -
Booking in all done. Fingers crossed I'll get my scan date through very soon.
My midwife is lovely, much nicer than the one I had last time, who ,( bearing in mind I told her I wasn't good with needles and told her which arm and where nurses always manage to get blood out of) insisted she could get blood out my hand and unsurprisingly failed!! This midwife listened to me and managed easily to get blood from exactly where i said!0
