    Welcome Skintbuthappy.

Glad the scan went well toots. and good luck lulu.

Sunshine - I'm in Camberley, so not a million miles from you. Although Fareham might be a bit too far out. Either way, I probably should just wait for my 12 week scan now as I'm 10 + 3 now.

Just when I feel like I'm getting over the worst of the sickness/tiredness, it hits me again. Argh!

Oh my goodness lulu! Congratulations! No wonder you've been feeling sick - I've heard symptoms can be worse for Ms when carrying twins. One of my friends found out she was having twins when she already had a 2-year-old. I'm hoping that doesn't happen to me. Eek! Still 1 week to go til my scan.

    Welcome skintbuthappy. X
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Ah Lulu that is amazing! Twins will be brilliant. Congratulations.

Twins run in my family so I wouldn't have been shocked if I saw two last night. She checked everywhere and there was only one.

Can I ask a quick q about the flu jab?! I haven't had one this year yet and my office seem to be getting more and more coughy and sneezy as the week goes on... terrified I will get it and still 10 days til I see the GP...

Should I go for an over the counter one or just wait it out?!

The people in the office likely just have colds which the flu jab won't protect against. I would wait personally.

Sexymouse is right. Your colleagues likely have colds, rather than flu.

As far as I am aware, the flu vaccines available from the likes of Boots, Asda etc, are the same as those offered by your GP.

But, given that the efficacy of the flu jab was just 3% last year, I don't think that waiting a couple of weeks is going to make much difference either way. Linky: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/flu-vaccine-shows-low-effectiveness-against-the-main-circulating-strain-seen-so-far-this-season

Even on a good year, it's efficacy is only about 50% because they are using the most virulent strains from the previous year to produce the vaccines for the following year. And, of course, there is no guarantee that those will be the same strains doing the rounds this year.

  • Hello all,

    Amazing news Lulu! Congratulations!

Welcome skintbuthappy! Hope all goes well for you.

I asked about the flu jab when I arranged my booking in appointment and they said to wait and speak to the midwife.
I did another digi today and got a 2-3 so up from my 1-2 last week. Would have liked a 3+ but at least it's gone up I guess! Anxiety is off the chart today, trying to stay calm but not doing very well with it. I don't know what's wrong with me, I'm normally a very rational and calm person! Oh well, guess there's nothing to be done but keep getting through the days. 5 weeks today!
Hope everyone is doing ok x

Thank you all for the sound flu jab advice - you're right, they are probably just colds and not full blown flu, I will wait.

It's so great having somewhere to ask all this stuff! :)
