How exciting FP, you must be wishing the week away.

Spoke to the surgery this morning. Apparently the woman who books all the booking in appointments has been on annual leave, and is only just back today. Will call her tomorrow.

In the my area you get the phone number from the midwife to book your scan after the booking in appointment, rather than getting a letter through the post, so the longer I don't have a booking in, the later the scan is likely going to be. In my last one, I had my booking in at 9+3 and was offered the earliest slot they had when I would have been 13+5.

I know the NT scan has to be done by 14 weeks. Does anyone know if this is just based on LMP or by actual measurements. I ask because I know I ovulated really early the month we caught so I might be a bit further on than I am based on LMP. Would this matter for the NT scan?

Feeling a bit left out looking at how many of you have already seen your little beans. As long as it is good news though, I still don't mind waiting.

Mum got a bit friendly with the wine last night and started asking OH when we were going to have babies. Sigh...nothing like a bit of old fashioned parental pressure to add to the first trimester worry fest.

In my area you make your own booking in with the midwife and then get a letter for your scan after that.

NT I think is based on LMP however I guess if dates are totally off it may not be possible.

I'm on a another forum as well and people there are nuts! No one seems to have the first trimester worries and loads have bought stuff for the baby already! (cots, prams, clothes, nursery furniture) and it's the exact opposite of moneysaving - I suggested I might buy some things second hand and almost got yelled at as to why I'd force my precious child into something 6 months old and worn/ slept in by another!

Just to add that there is absolutely nothing wrong with people buying all new stuff, just that some (not all) things will be second hand for mine.
  • Gosh I've been too worried to even go and get a book from the library! I can't imagine buying anything at this stage  (although when the time comes, we'll be like you rambosmum, a mixture of second-hand and one or two new things)

I was surprised as well about the Sunday appointment! According to the dates on paper (and by what the nurses saw on the early scans), I'll be 11 weeks exactly but according to the due date calculated by the scan computer, it'll be 10+5 - so who knows? :p

Hi ladies, I also find that these weeks go every so slowly whilst I wish them to go faster and faster.

I'm so, so tired at the moment; dreading next week if this tiredness remains as am attending a conference for three days with a 2hr commute each way. Staying over isn't an option due to my 2 year old... hope I don't fall asleep on the train and miss a connection!

IanRi, hope that the scan on Wednesday goes well.

Hope that everyone else is ok x

Where we are you call a number for the children's hospital as soon as you have a positive pregnancy test. They then send out a letter with booking appointment for about 8 weeks based on the info given over phone.

Then at the booking appointment the midwife called the hospital to book our scan and checked the date with us there and then. So easy and no faffing around calling to rearrange the date.

Thank you. Today really dragged! One more day to get through. Just want time to hurry up.

I've already started buying stuff on eBay, I just can't help myself....all I can think about is baby baby baby. I'm 6+2 first pregnancy (EVER!) with first MW appointment 30th June. Hoping first scan won't be until early August (?) as OH is away on business until end of July. Are NHS flexible with scan dates? Or you just get given what you get given?

Morning sickness has kicked in properly now. Slept on and off all of Saturday and Sunday. Being in the office is awful. Have found brazil nuts and walnuts really helped with nausea. I definitely feel "pregnant" now and my bloated belly is a constant reminder, as are my sore heavy boobs.

What a logical way of doing things!

We have to book our own midwife appointment for any time after 10 weeks (she only works one day a week) then get sent a scan date, which is not overly negotiable!

I have made it to 9 weeks. Still refusing to believe all will be OK. My scan is at 11+4, which seems quite early given my dates are a little unsure.

Still feel somewhat pregnant. Tops very tight around bust, falling out of bras, and still feeling a bit sicky. Stomach has definitely expanded, as i am normally very skinny!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
