Hello there, we've got our dating and NT scan next Wednesday. I've been checking this part of the forum recently. Our current due date is the 4th January. First pregnancy and first try so feeling lucky, hoping that luck holds and everything is fine at the scan. Starting to get more nervous about it now, but trying to remain positive for my wife.

She's asking for the time off on the afternoon for hospital appointment but not saying what it's for yet as she doesn't want to have everyone at her work know (school teacher) then have to say if it turns out to be bad news.

She keeps reading about missed miscarriages etc.

I'm both incredibly excited and scared at the same time. Hope everyone is well and wish you all the best. Thank you for posts as they have been helpful in calming OH down by letting her know that other people feel similarly.
    Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

Welcome IanRi. Yep, the terror is in us all!

This is a group of mixed people pregnancy wise, some took a long time to conceive, some needed a bit of help, some didn't know they were pregnant for a while, some got pregnant first try (me), some have had multiple miscarriages. For all of us the fear is there and we all keep our fingers, toes and legs crossed for a sticky bean!

Some of us have told people but others haven't- I might advise telling her boss, just in case it is bad news and then it is easier to have bit of time off, which she may need. Hopefully won't be necessary though!

Currently for me we have builders in our house and when I get home tonight I should be missing a bit of wall in my living room. Ooh does it get more exciting?!
  • Hi All

I am a long time lurker but never really post anything but I decided to give it a go this time as the thread seems full of lovely people and great suggestions. I am 7 weeks pregnant due 1st Februay and this is my second child I already have a beautiful little girl age 21 months. Due to my MW being on holiday and then me I have already had my booking in appointment so I'm now waiting for my scan details.
My first pregnancy was a breeze no morning sickness no time off work nothing but this time I'm really struggling sickness is awful it just lasts all day and ginger doesn't seem to help any other suggestions would be great!

Hope to get to know some of you over the coming months.
  • Hi everyone,

I did introduce myself a few weeks ago, but have only read since, mainly because i had nothing very exciting to say!

Its the big day tomorrow, scan at 10am, thankfully an early appointment, and i'm getting really nervous!! I just want it over now.

Shopkeepwife ive also got a 21 month old, and keep thinking i must be crazy :). I also have a nearly 10 year old who i'm hoping will be excited when she finds out tomorrow!
Still here..... but working on that!

I've updated list with myself and ShopkeepWife.

I've photocopied her appointment letter but blanked out any details so she has something to show if they ask for proof that she has an appointment. They're a bit funny at her school. Expecting Ofsted imminently, lots of schools have received 'the call' this week in the area and they are overdue. She was hoping it would be this week.

Definitely not wanting it to be on the date of her scan! Awkward enough anyway asking for the time off. Luckily it's at 3 pm so it is only the very end of the day she'd be missing.

I'm picking her up from school then off to the hospital hopefully in plenty of time!

Quite a few teachers on here! I haven't told school either, just asked for the day off for a hospital appointment. I have had two missed miscarriages, so not sure whether to let them just in case it is bad news. Very nerve-wracking!!

We havent had OFSTED for 6 years, so we are also anticipating them any day. I breathe a sigh of relief if no phone call by 2pm on Wednesday. A local school just had Ofsted turn up without notice though!

Still no bleeding for me, but symptoms have died down. I have a rotten cold though. Nasty germy school children.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • My scan went well today, bean has doubled in size since last seeing him or her, and I've been moved forward another day. So now 13+2 and must bid you all a fond farewell and will see you all again in due course on the next thread :j
