My husbands gran is very ill with cancer and despite outliving even the most optimistic doctors expectations it appears that the end is nigh and so last night we made the 2 hour trip to the Midlands to see her (and possibly say goodbye). She's in bed, asleep most of the time, having difficulty breathing and not able to talk. She's barely opened her eyes for days.

We had decided to not tell anyone in the family until we were a bit more sure but decided to tell her and OHs granddad who is her carer last night. She opened her eyes and gave us the biggest smile in ages, it was definitely worth telling her and seeing her reaction. We've asked them both to keep it quiet though.

Rambosmum, so sorry to hear what your going through. What a lovely way to cheer them up though by telling them your news. Bet it made it feel more real telling them.

    Hello Ladies!

I used to be somewhat active over on the TTC thread early last year but after not having any success hubby and I decided to just leave things up to fate and go ntnp and lo and behold I've just found out I'm up the duff!!

It was all a bit strange to be honest. I had what I thought was my period a couple of weeks ago but it was pretty light, only one day of red bleeding and even then I only needed a pad and no period cramps at all. Thought nothing of it, just presumed I was having a weird cycle. Since then though I've been having period like cramps and I've been feeling sick. So thought "Sod it! I've not peed on a stick in over a year lets get a pregnancy test". I was 99.9999999% sure it would be negative. I used a clearblue digital and it straight away came up saying pregnant then 30 seconds later added the 2-3 weeks! To say we were shocked was an understatement. Truth be told we only had sex once last month as hubby hasn't been well and I've been busy with work!

So by my calculations I am 4+6 today. I've got my booking in appointment with the midwife on 25 June, which can't come soon enough. I'm trying to stay calm but I'm constantly panicking that this won't work out and am fretting every single symptom I have! Hopefully you ladies can re-assure me that everything I'm experiencing is normal I think the main reason I'm panicking is because I had the bleed that I thought was my period.

    So far my symptoms include:

    1. Nausea - not actually been sick but I have constant waves of nausea
    2. Period like cramps. These have been constant for 2 weeks now.
    3. Night sweats - These are driving me insane!! I'm waking up multiple times in the night absolutely drenched. Not very pleasant at all.
    4. Increased CM/constant wet feeling - sorry if that's TMI but I'm sure you ladies don't mind! ;p
    5. Tired - so very tired. I went to bed at 8pm last night!

So anyway, that's me. Can't wait to get chatting with you all a bit more and going through this journey together. Let me know if you're experiencing any of the same symptoms as me and how you are coping with them.

    Added myself to the list.

Welcome wegle :) I think all of your symptoms are perfectly normal! I've had every one of them except the night sweats.

My last AF was incredibly light too - only lasted a day and only needed a pad. When I went to the docs after I found out I was pg, they said it was possibly an implantation bleed, and that's why I wound up with an early scan. It turns out it obviously was just a weird AF, but bleeding in early pregnancy is fairly common, and doesn't necessarily mean bad things.

Rambosmum - that's lovely that your OH's gran had such a sweet reaction.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend :)

I hadn't connected my recent night sweats with being PG, that's another symptom then. And I'm definitely having to eat breakfast for fear of vomming without it.

    Hi all,

    Hope you're all doing ok!

We went to the Fetal Medicine Centre in London for the Harmony test yesterday, so they do a scan at 10 weeks with a blood test and then back at 12 weeks for another scan and results. They were lovely, and took about 20mins for the scan. Just the one baby (have been having twin dreams for a few nights!) and matching my dates perfectly. Took three goes to get the blood test done but that's about normal for me.

Nausea getting better now, although have strange aversion to some foods I usually love (spag bol in particular!).
