Okay this is a rant.
We told the parents yesterday. MIL is already doing my head in and I bet this is only a taste of what's to come.
We only got 4 photos and two of them were rubbish quality so we decided not to give them to people, which she didn't like. I told her it wouldn't be fair because someone would be left with a worse picture than someone else. "Well I don't care, I want a good one. I'm at the top of the pile" I told her that nobody is and all family are equal so she will have to wait until the 12 week scan and we will get decent ones for everyone.
She mentioned the reading she had, and how if it's a boy the psychic must be right (yeah cos she totally got the year right! not!) so I said there's a 50/50 chance of that and she wouldn't let it go!
She didn't ask how I was doing, I just said it in passing. In fact, she didn't really say anything about how great this is for OH and I, it was all about her.
She won't stop messaging my mum on Facebook (they've only met once).
She text us this morning telling us that she's buying our cot and the car seat. Very appreciated but OH and I want to buy the cot (found a lovely yet expensive furniture set), plus we might be buying a travel system from a friend. Plus we have 34 weeks to decide these things.
I get that she's excited, but it's stressing me out.
I know she'll want to be in the room when I give birth (NO!) and I know she'll act like I don't know a thing. I need a holiday! Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

Lulu, that's awful. As if pregnancy isn't stressful enough. Glad your scan went well. Maybe you did OV later than you thought. It usually takes a few days after OV for implantation, then another 3-4 days for HcG levels to be high enough to detect on a HPT. Either way, if they said everything looks fine, then you should have nothing to worry about. Seeing a HB is really good news.
AFM, just waiting for midwife to call re booking in appt. Boobs still sore but easing off (or I am getting use to it).
Hope you have a good booking in appt Wizzypop.0 -
Lulu, that sucks. Is this a first grandchild? I would politely but firmly thank their offer of help, but say you already have it sorted. Perhaps out MIL in charge of something else, like knitting something?? If it is vile, take a photo, then hide it in the back of the wardrobe.
I have made it to 5+1. Still very nervous, as i am sure this is the point I had bleeding last time, where everything slowly started going wrong. Taking each day as it comes, and although it is half term, I will be 6 weeks when I go back to school! Not looking forward to telling my head of departmentShould've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Yeah..kind of. I told her there's plenty of time to think about things like that.
She won't stop messaging me now. Asking when she can tell the world. Surely it's mine and OH's news and not hers! I told her we will tell people ourselves when we're out of the woods. She doesn't understand that it's so early still.
Oh I forgot, she said on Sunday "it's a good job we're going away next week instead of this week because then you wouldn't have been able to tell anyone for another week" OH said it wouldn't have made a difference so her point is irrelevant, but she was insistent that we wouldn't have been allowed to tell anyone before her! I think she's annoyed that we told my parents first (by a whole hour!).Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

Hi all,
I'm quietly putting my hand up and waving hello!
I got my BFP Sunday night with a CB digital and then again with CB plus yesterday morning. CB digital says 1-2 weeks, so I'm guessing I'm around 3-4 weeks. I didn't use OPKs this month, so have no idea when I OV, but AF is/was due today/tomorrow, but no sign yet.
I have an appointment with the GP on Thursday which is 4 weeks from last AF, and I'll be 1/2 days late then. I calculate my EDD as around 4 February.
So far, we've told parents, my SIL, my sisters, my mother's sisters and a few close friends. I just can't keep quiet about things like this. We're keeping quiet on FB and other social media as we don't want it to be public just yet, especially not before DH tells work.
This is my 4th and final baby, so I'm cherishing every moment.
I'm shattered today as the stupid dog had me up at 2am! I swear children are easier to look after, and less smelly!!!0 -
Sorry Lulu, she sounds like a nightmare! I find myself getting irritated by far less so I think you've done well to remain so tolerant.
My mother had done pretty well so far, but told me this weekend that she'd told her best friend (someone I'm very close to) the news weeks ago because I'd told MY best friend?!
A few minutes before that, I'd told her some of the names we were thinking of and she later texted me to point out how bad it would be if shortened. That was after I'd specifically told her we'd considered keeping potential names to ourselves because we didn't want people's reactions putting us off or whatever.
There have been a few other times when she's spoken before engaging her brain and it just upsets me. So that's it, lesson learned, I'll be taking a step back from sharing so much with her for the rest of the pregnancy. No doubt I'll feel guilty about it along the way, but I'm sick of feeling bad because of her tactlessness!
Hormonal much, me?!0
