It is correct! They calculate from LMP I think because that is the only date they can actually be sure on. So you are 2 weeks pregnant before you have even ovulated! So yes, 2 weeks after you have conceived, you are actually called 4 weeks pregnant. It is weird!

Thank you so much, it is odd isn't, today you don't know you are pregnant, tomorrow you could be a month down the line already:eek:

  • Hi ladies, slight change of edd here. Midwife said 30th sept - she impressively calculated that in her head!

Was just an apt to take a few details and give me some info. Booking apt in another 4wks and she comes to our house.

As my bmi is 31 advice is I don't gain any weight..! Oh and I've to take extra 5mg of folic acid that I should get script through for.

Hope everyone is well today, I'm really tired!xxx

Don't gain ANY?? So technically that means losing weight - as you will gain a baby and a placenta and more blood etc which will all be extra wait! Argh that is scary!
  • Exactly daisyegg! She said between 5-11kg is ok if bmi not high but with a high bmi nothing...!!

  • Eek 7 weeks that's quick. Thanks for the advice I'll be more careful in future. Think I'll have loads of questions for the doctor haha! How are you feeling today?

7 weeks is only a guess-timation on my part, I could be wrong. :) And that's okay, it's just what I've found - and I keep having to remind myself not to overdo it or not to lift those heavy things I had no problem lifting not so long ago! :p

Feeling alright, thanks chickpea! Pleased I took the second day off yesterday, rather than risking over-doing it. I've had no more big bleeds since Wednesday night, only spotting when I wipe and nothing transferred to pad (but again, spotting seems to be normal for me throughout this pregnancy). Hoping it won't happen again, but who knows! Doctor didn't seem overly concerned and quite happy that all was fine with baby, but said if I have any worries to go straight in. :)

Many thanks for adding me to the list, cmace2. :) So pleased your bleeding turned out to be nothing - take it easy!

Argh that is ridiculous. Especially as the NHS website about being pregnant and overweight specifically says it is not healthy to try and lose weight in pregnancy. But she is effectively telling you to lose weight!
  • I know! She said no dieting but a healthy diet for ONE! Also moderate exercise.

Ergh I am really worried now as my BMI is higher than yours :( pooooooo.
  • Daisiegg, please don't fret! My BMI is higher than that and the midwife didn't say anything of the sort re: not gaining any weight whatsoever. The only time she did mention weight gain was when I brought it up myself as I'm concerned at being something of a ball come the end. She said that if I didn't gain any weight at all, it would be an advantage BUT BUT BUT not to try any silly diets or actively try to LOSE weight during pregnancy as it won't do baby any good. If you lose weight initially through lack of appetite/morning sickness it is not a concern for them, arguably a good thing as it lowers your BMI. :)
