If it were me, I would stay off just to be absolutely sure and get some more rest. This is partly because it would not make any difference to my sickness record at work, because they do it in 'periods of absence' so one day off is the same as multiple consecutive days off...I have learnt the hard way not to go back until I am absolutely sure, because if you have a day off, then struggle in the next day but are sick and have to go home, that counts as two separate absences and gets you in more trouble than if you hadn't bothered trying to go in and had just stayed off for two days!

Er, I know that is not what you were asking and you have said your boss is very understanding...but just saying...that is what I would do!

Goodnight, sweet dreams :) (and to anyone else who reads this before bed!)

No no, thanks for the advice, it's partly why I posted as I really wasn't sure what to do. I completely get your point and it does make sense re: the "periods of absence" too. I woke up this morning still feeling weary, tired and uneasy and I have ended up calling work and I'm not going in today. Given how uneasy I feel and I know I would be distracted and constantly anxious and not really giving my all to the jobs I do. I now feel a huge weight has lifted off my shoulders for deciding not to go in - both bosses have said I need to stop worrying about work and feeling guilty for not being in and putting baby first (I am notorious for always putting work first). It's going to be a hard mindset to break!

Now I've got today, Saturday and Sunday to rest up and hopefully go back to work afresh on Monday. :)

Thanks again for all your kind thoughts and wishes; Wednesday evening was terrifying, but after the scan and the doctor not being hugely concerned after seeing such a strong heartbeat/happy baby, I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic and take each day as it comes. Still spotting, but that's not unusual as I've spotted since Christmas and as long as there was no more repeats of Wednesday, I'll be happy. :)

  • Glad your feeling better Mrs I and work have been so good. It will be better to start next week fresh.

By last scan I'm 11 + 2 today and the symptoms I've had so far are first my boobs were so sore, then I got really burpy and bloated then I started being sick lasted 2/3 weeks and along with that had upset stomach so was coming out both ends (tmi) and my skin over the last month has just been terrible. However apart from the skin the last 2 weeks I haven't had anything so of course I'm in panic mode.

I've got my scan today so I'm really really nervous. I just hope everything is ok. Will let you all know how it goes later.

    Hope your all well.x

Ladies any ideas when the cramps will stop and why i feel cramp pain?

I am still feeling niggles/twinges most days (and I'm 9+6(ish)) - not constantly, but comes in spells throughout the day. I read that it's to do with the ligaments and your womb stretching in preparation for the baby growing/as the baby grows. Some people say it's implantation, but that might be too early for you yet? I think the cramps are one of those things that people neglect to mention to you re: pregnancy! If the pain does get too bad though, don't be afraid to ring your midwife or GP, they would rather reassure you, rather than you be sat at home worrying. Try not to worry though, chickpea. :)

Edit: Good luck for your midwife appointment today, lolly!!

Can I also be added to the list? While we're not 100% certain on the exact date due to conflicting information, we think we're due around 30th August. :)

  • Thanks Miss I - I was worrying because I was moving stuff at work and felt a pain and thought oh no! I've got my first gp appointment on Tuesday so I'll ask then. I'm glad it's normal - thanks for the support.

I'm only 1-2 weeks but according to a 28 day cycle I'm 5 weeks, do you ladies think I'll have a scan in 7 or 10 weeks? Sorry for all the questions!!
  • I worried too when I first had the twinges, I started to get them shortly after my missed period and thought it was all a false alarm then! :) Took a while to get used to them, and they still surprise me occasionally and make me wonder if everything's alright. It is completely normal though, so don't fret. :) I think if you were moving things at work and you felt a pain, I argue that it's your body telling you to take it easy and stop - I've had it a couple of times if I've lifted something slightly heavy.

Is your ClearBlue test saying 1-2 weeks? If I'm right, then you add on another two to that, so you're 3-4 weeks? Either way, I think you'll be having a scan in 7 weeks, rather than 10. But again, another question to ask the GP on Friday as they might work differently where you are!

And don't be sorry for all the questions, it's what we're here for! :)
