Hi Everybody!
Can I be in your gang please? I'm 8weeks Pg with baby #2. I have my first midwife appointment on 23rd september no date for scan yet. I can't even remember from last time when I got my scan date - I'm betting the midwife will make it after seeing me?? I have a challenging 3yo son already. Doctor gave me a provisional due date of 24th April.0 -

Looks like they have bottles, baby clothes, big packs of nappies and baby wipes etc but also larger items like baby gates and car seats. I'm planning on stocking up a little each month to help make my shopping bill a bit easier once baby arrives as I know having a baby isn't always very MSE

Just seconding this! I love their little blankets. We have two that are gender neutral, and although most of them are lined in pink/blue, they do usually have a decent selection of tan/cream/yellow ones as well. We also have two packs of their little vests in two different sizes, again gender neutral.
Also - for anyone who is working (I'm not, so be sure to double check this), I think that you don't *have* to tell work that you're pregnant until 25 weeks or so. It's so many weeks before your due date, and I think it works out to 25 weeks. Granted, most everyone is showing before then anyway!

Hi all, sorry, i'm not very good at posting but have been popping in for a read of how you are all doing when I get a chance. I'm 12 weeks today and have a stinking cold! But otherwise feel ok, having major paranoia attacks about whether everything is ok in there (like most of us have) but have my scan on Friday and will know for sure. Thanks for all your advise and info over the past 6 weeks or so since I found out about my little bean. I will pop back on Friday and let you know how things went. Best of luck to you all.0

Aldi are also, for the 1st time I think, doing maternity clothes in their baby event starting tomorrow. If you look at their website & special offers for tomorrow it's a lll listed, think there is a dress, top and leggings as well as lots of other baby bits.
I've been for a spa day today in a lovely local hotel, had a lovely lunch, relax on a water bed & a facial, followed by cake & hot chocolate! Went with my mum, sister & nan so there was lots of baby talk, very exciting but I really can't wait until next tuesday now for my scan! x0 -
I saw a list of the products on the Aldi website and noticed the maternity leggings etc, they are so much cheaper than a lot of other places! Also, I noticed in my Emma's pack that there is a voucher for Mamia nappies, if I recall correctly I think its 40% off, so hopefully it can be used on their jumbo packs as I might start stocking up
Also related to Emma's Diary, I got an email giving 30% off the Baby and Toddler show in Bluewater. Is anyone else thinking of going, or perhaps the Manchester one? I think OH and I will go to have a general look at things and get us in the baby spirit as we have really done very little towards planning for an arrival so far! It still seems so early, but I know we should start sorting bits out each month to save a huge shopping trip right towards the end. Also, are there any of you with DS's/DD's already who have been to a Baby show in the past? If so, what did you think of it, particularly as a first time parent?0 -
Yayyyy so glad for you , finally :jHello Everyone!
So i had my booing in appointment. Lots of questions, BMI and blood pressure checked. Going to be Consultant lead sue to Thyroid problem. No surprise there. I also know my midwife. Mother of a girl i went to school with and also lived 10 doors down when i was growing up. No bloods taken - this is done at scan apparently.
Scan in 2 weeks time - cannot wait as you all must understand. 16 weeks appointment booked in as well.
FYI - they did have the right phone number so not sure why i didnt get a text with the appointment details but at least i know the next 2 dates already.
Glad all your other appointments and scans have gone well for you too!0 -

I went to the Bluewater one when I was very very pregnant with DD1 (about 37 weeks) which could have colored my judgment a bit but I wasn't overly impressed, it was very small and there was perhaps only 1 stall selling each type of thing so you couldn't really compare to see if you were getting a good deal or not & what was there was mostly (not always) more of the independent type companies with fairly unique things, but quite pricey. not really mainstream practical things. That said, we did buy dribble bibs because my DH thought they were quite cool (pink scull & crossbones, purple camouflage, orange sheep etc !!), but actually were really useful when DD1 was teething and a non stop dribble monster.
It was free to get in (last minute e-mail which I got last year too, so don't buy yet) and we lived close by so nothing was wasted.0 -

In order to qualify for SML (stat mat leave) you must inform your employer AT LEAST 15 weeks before you are due to give birth (i.e. 25 weeks). Therefore in theory you could opt not to tell your employer and lose this (why you would I don't know). The other important consideration is that your employer cannot make reasonable adjustments to your job unless they know you are pg. Also it is not unreasonable for an employer to ask to see a letter for dr/hospital appointments. They rarely do for antenatal (or you can show your mat notes if they are a bit funny but highly unlikely). The emma diary's website I have copied it helpful for thinking about this.

I feel so dizzy this week not like me at all. Might try drinking more water. I have never had dizzyness this early in pregnancy before.0
