Sounds like you've had a tough decision to make about going for that promotion. Do they know you are pregnant yet? I think if it was me personally, I would err on the side of caution and stay in my current position, and then keep everything crossed that something else pops up when you return. But who knows, you might want to stay on a 3 day week when little one gets here as you'll have more time to spend with him/her. Plus factoring childcare costs etc, it may be that it works out you are no better or worse off if you look at it that way. Phew, so much to think about as a working woman!
Thanks Missy MooI feel like I've queue jumped though so there's four ladies ahead of me on the lists waiting for their scans! I forgot to say I got my 20 week scan date and that's 10 November. No need to add it to the lists though, I guess I'll take that info to the next thread. Doesn't feel like too long away though, ha just worked out it's 55 days! I might book a private gender scan before then too, I'll see how it goes for a few more weeks first though.
I want to get a pregnancy diary, has anyone got one yet? Any recommendations? I had the 'bump to birthday' one in my last pregnancy and it was lovely but I'd probably rather get something different this time.
Re my job, yes they do know I'm pregnant. The jobs not hugely differently than mine but it does have one key area of additional responsibility that needs doing four times a year and is quite a big job. I really enjoy doing it though and I'd be jealous if anyone else was doing it! We're a small team so I know no one else in the team will apply, but it's a big organisation and people don't leave so someone could come in from another department and stay for years! You're right though, I might prefer the simpler life when I have a baby! Argh decisions decisions!
Hope alls well with you x0 -

I accepted a new job a week before I found out I was pregnant with my first. By the time I started work there I was about 11 weeks, it was a move from a very stressful job into a less stressful one with the sme amount of money. I was moving withing the nhs so there was no change to my maternity pay. I did feel quilty about being in the job and then going on mat leave 6 months later but it was definitely the right decision for me. I am still in that job because I love it and they let me go back 3 days after mat leave.
I felt so sick this morning nearly thought I wasn't going to make it into work, I managed to eat half my porridge and the sickness got a lot better phew. So desperate to keep this pregnancy a secret until scan.
Thanks JediI think my gut says apply and see what happens. Even if I don't get it at least they'll know I'm keen. Better that than not going for it and always wondering 'what if'. I'd have to apply like an external person would which is a bit of a pain! Although it will only be advertised internally first
Hope you're feeling better today! X0 -
Yay!!! :j
Everything is fine! The scan revealed ONE perfect heartbeat (so although there was a good chance of twins, we won't have to think about moving house just yet!)
I kinda liked the idea of twins but the practicality was very scary!
Got a nice little video of the heart beating too!0 -
hoorah downhillfast! how exciting! So pleased everything looks ok!!
Any news on your midwife appointment jovie and milly?
At mine it was just the whole going through paperwork, blood tests, other tests etc. Quite straightforward. She was very nice but wasn't bothered that I had lost 10lbs - just said that some people are affected more than others and it's a sign of a healthy pregnancy. Oh well! Oh, and she confirmed that she thought I was measuring about 16 weeks too so she is looking forward to the result of the scan next week!
Next appointment with Midwife is at 16 weeks which is 6th November!Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock0 -
Great news from all appointments today.
I took the afternoon off sick in the end; the pain was too much to put up with. Midwife suggested, rest, paracetamol and a bath.
I'm feeling much better now, just going to take it easy and hope that my 'ligaments' have stretched enough for the next few weeks ☺️0 -
Great to hear about everyone's scans and appointments going well.
So crazy hungry all the time, it's a nightmare. Even after a big dinner I am hungry a couple of hours later. Some of my work clothes are feeling uncomfortable on me sitting at a desk all day might get the maternity stuff out eeekkk i am only 6 weeks.
Re pregnancy diary I just have a plain book that I write in, I also do bump measurements every week, due to do one tonight.:jMarried 16/07/2010, ds1 born 11/08/12, baby due 08/05/20150 -
Glad to hear all appointments have gone well today.
I had my NHS 12week scan yesterday and confirmed I am 13weeks today. Have the exciting plan of scan every 4weeks and consultant appointments in between. It's going to be a very busy time.
Told my family on the weekend - a lot of squelling down the phone (all are in oz). Telling OHs parents tonight.
Told work today and everyone has been so excited.
It's making me even more excited!!!!
Anyway, as I'm 13weeks I suppose I should shove off to the next thread. But at least it seems like there are a few of us heading there soon. So see you all soon ladies (and gents)0 -
Hello Everyone!
So i had my booing in appointment. Lots of questions, BMI and blood pressure checked. Going to be Consultant lead sue to Thyroid problem. No surprise there. I also know my midwife. Mother of a girl i went to school with and also lived 10 doors down when i was growing up. No bloods taken - this is done at scan apparently.
Scan in 2 weeks time - cannot wait as you all must understand. 16 weeks appointment booked in as well.
FYI - they did have the right phone number so not sure why i didnt get a text with the appointment details but at least i know the next 2 dates already.
Glad all your other appointments and scans have gone well for you too!0 -
Sounds like it's been a good day all round with scans and midwife appointments!
Downhill fast - how did you get a video of the heartbeat, on your phone? I'm jealous, I wish I'd thought to get my OH to film the scan! On screen baby looked lovely with a side on profile and hands up but the sonographer gave us a picture of the baby looking straight on at the ultrasound thing so if you look closely you can just a little skull which is a little bit creepy! But that sounds bad!
Aww Danielley sorry you've been feeling rubbishI wonder if something like pregnancy yoga or aqua natal classes would help strengthen your ligaments? Might be worth asking your midwife?

Hey everyone, I'm glad all the scans and appointments went well for those who have had them today or very recently. Carrot - well done for graduating! :j Hopefully you'll be in good company before long. I'm glad you managed to get through on the phone milly and its fantastic that you didn't miss your appointment! I've added your scan date to the list
Aunty - if you are measuring at 16 weeks you may be graduating sooner than you think
What is it that is making her think that, purely by measurements? That's quite a way off isn't it!?
I hope your pains ease off soon danielley. I get little twinges every now and again but thankfully I've not yet experienced any major ligament pains. I'm sure those will come before long!
Have we all told work yet now? I still haven'tI don't know how to even go about it! I want to tell my HOD first on her own, then I need to tell the Head (especially as I need to get an afternoon off in Oct for a midwife appt), but I don't know if I want the rest of my Dept to know yet. I have no idea why, I know they'll be lovely about it, but I don't want the dynamics in the Dept to change because of it. I don't know if they would, but I'm still very apprehensive about it!
