Wow! Busy day for appointments and scans!! So glad you've been seen Milly! Huge weight off your shoulders I bet!
Fab news on the scan Tilly, I think you're doing the right thing with the job, as long as you're open and honest, you'll be forever wondering 'what if' if you don't apply.
Brilliant idea for to video the scan Downhill, may steal that idea if OH is willing to be the videographer!
Huge congrats on your scan too Carrot, glad both babies were looking good!!
Have you had any luck Crazycatlady with the EPU? Really hoping you've managed to get an early scan.
As for me, not much to report, had a fab day with ds. Scan on Thursday and I'm getting very impatient reading all your lovely updates!!0 -
Gosh what a busy day!
When I had a scan at 7 weeks we filmed it so we could show people the heartbeat. Not sure how I thought of that while having an internal scan but I'm glad I did!
I've had a bit of ligament pain too, low down in my groin, on both sides but not at the same time. I have got, or did have, a tilted uterus and so I guess as it has to move more than usual I guess thats why I've had pain a bit earlier than it says in the books and also had quite a lot of cramps pain earl on.
How exciting Aunty, can't wait for the results from your scan, but measuring that far ahead it's got to be twins hasn't it?! Are there any in your family?
Very excited for my scan next tuesday. Had a fair bit of sickness the last few days. Yesterday morning I had to run back in the house to be ill before leaving for work and this morning I had to take deep breaths until I got into work when I was ill again! I'v told a few friends and my bosses in work but not everyone however I work in the haematology department in the hospital so as soon as I have my bllods taken on tuesday & they go up to the lab everyone will now. There is no confidentiality in my job! Everyone is going to see & know & there isn't anything I can do, I don't mind I just want to get to be able to tell the people I want to tell myself before they just find out so i'll have a race after my appointment to get to the labs & speak to people!
Hope everyone is ok x0 -
hello everyone!!
hope the excitement is rubbing off on everyone and they feel a bit better able to cope with whatever they're dealing with at the moment.
No history of twins in the family!!!
In terms of them saying I'm measuring 16 weeks, apparently, at ~9 weeks the uterus should be hardly stretched above the pubic bone (i.e. shouldn't come much higher than your *ahem* bikini line) However, GP and midwife could both feel the top of the uterus nearer my belly button. So if you use a measuring tape from the pubic bone ("down there") to the top of the uterus that gives a measurement and mine was 16cm which corresponds to 16 weeks. It's not completely accurate and there can be other reasons for measuring large - excess fluid, a cyst or a fibroid for example. But apparently to be measuring so large - and fitting in with all the symptoms I've had - the picture is certainly looking most likely for twins! ()
Re: telling work, I'll be emailing my line manager tomorrow morning (she's in a different site) as I'll need the time off for the scan next Tuesday. My work (NHS) Maternity policy states that reasonable time off must be given for all appointments and for any classes (e.g. Aqua-natal, relaxation etc) if recommended by a health professional!Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock0 -

Just wondering how Trixsie, louise and betti are doing as it looks they should be graduating soon but we've not heard from them in a while. Give us a wave if you're still here! :hello:0 -
Hi everyone
Thank you all for the concernI spoke to the EPU today and they are fully booked for scans all week due to being closed on Monday. The first time they could give me is Monday 22nd at 10am. Bit of a wait but am glad I am being seen. Symptoms haven't changed, I still feel pregnant so am trying to remain positive.
Lovely to hear about everyone's appointments and scans :j So exciting. Brilliant for millyg1- how lucky phoning and finding out appointment was that day after waiting for so long! Glad all went well

I hope the week goes quickly for you CCL ready for your scan, bit of a pain that it's not until Monday but at least you've got one.
To anyone who is interested and has an Aldi near them, they have a baby event starting Thursday so it may be worth having a browse as they normally have some great bargains. Looks like they have bottles, baby clothes, big packs of nappies and baby wipes etc but also larger items like baby gates and car seats. I'm planning on stocking up a little each month to help make my shopping bill a bit easier once baby arrives as I know having a baby isn't always very MSE0 -
Crazycatlady, I hope all is well on your scan on Monday
Aunty Pickle, I didn't think the "measuring" thing was very accurate, my MW did it with my first pregnancy and the doc later told me he thought it was rubbish. I don't know who was right really! Twins would be very exciting though.
I actually got a midwife appointment, the letter arrived this morning and my appointment is tomorrow afternoon! I will be getting a scan while I'm there, although I don't think I'm more than 10 weeks pregnant. The next scan will probably be at 18-20 weeks if all is well. I can't wait to get a more accurate date. I keep telling people I'm due "in April" when they ask, but that doesn't seem to be enough information for them. Babies just come when they come, right? Only a fraction of babies are born on their due date so I don't think it makes much difference
The only thing I think I need is a new carseat and a cot (unless I can borrow from someone). I've got the cloth nappies and wipes, clothes for boys and girls, and the pram, wrap slings, and billions of blankets. What else do they need really?

Pinkshoes I am sorry to hear your sad news
your experience with the EPU sounds rubbish too, I hope the doctor you visit has a better bedside manner than the person on the telephone with you xx

Downhill fast - how did you get a video of the heartbeat, on your phone? I'm jealous, I wish I'd thought to get my OH to film the scan! On screen baby looked lovely with a side on profile and hands up but the sonographer gave us a picture of the baby looking straight on at the ultrasound thing so if you look closely you can just a little skull which is a little bit creepy! But that sounds bad!
Aww Danielley sorry you've been feeling rubbishI wonder if something like pregnancy yoga or aqua natal classes would help strengthen your ligaments? Might be worth asking your midwife?
Yeah I just recorded it on my phone. I always planned to record it as I am putting together a video diary of our journey for our bump when it's older - with half of its genes from an anonymous donor we think it is important to give it as much history about itself as possible.
I wasn't sure how the sonographer would be about it but once she'd done what she needed to do re measuring and checking how many etc she actually asked if we wanted to video it :A
Needless to say 'Whatsapp' was very busy for the next hour or so! :rotfl:0 -
That is a great idea to film the scan, technology is so different now, with my first baby 2 years ago I didn't even have a phone that could do video.
Regarding people needing to tell work they are pregnant because they have appointments, you can just say you have a gp or hospital appointment i don't think you should have to tell them the whole story if you don't want to.
I haven't told work and hope to keep it quiet until after the scan, I am currently 6 weeks. I have taken the day off for my midwife appointment because I feel I might get upset (if I have to take about my labour with my first I still get emotional) and I don't want to go back to work and people can see I have been crying. I will prob take the day off when I have my scan unless it's one of my non work days but for my bloods I will just say I have a gp appt.
3 weeks till my midwife appt, this waiting makes me crazy lol:jMarried 16/07/2010, ds1 born 11/08/12, baby due 08/05/20150
