  • Carrot, Always and danielley - definitely ok to stay here after reaching 12 weeks! Pington says its very quiet over there so hopefully there'll be a bunch of graduates who can go over together :) I've just realised I've only got 2 weeks to go!

jane - yes I've been getting cramps too. I also get these strange feelings every now and again, especially when in bed and I've stretched in my sleep, I wake myself up worrying I've stretched too much and detached something as I get little twinges :p

Tilly and milly - go for the promotion! Even if you didn't get it, it shows you are looking to move your career forward and so they may consider you for something else in the future. I applied for an internal position but lost out, but my Head said I'm definitely promotable and so she'll keep an eye out for a position for me.

We've spoken about cramps, cravings, nausea, spots and so on, but not many people have mentioned something I am really struggling with... constipation :o:o:o Anyone else suffering!? I am so bloated and when I do feel the need to go to the loo, I get these awful cramps and its so painful I actually sometimes wonder to myself is this what labour is like?! Apologies for TMI but I find myself on the toilet for aaaages with little to no end result :( If anyone has any wonder cures for this I will be extremely grateful!

From recollection the rememdies used with varying success for constipation were:

    fructulose
    liquorice
    'proper' coffee
    prune juice

There will be others I am sure but that is all I can remember.

I am 34+4 and have had on/off cramps all the time

Smell was what made me feel the most sick

PS by the time you get to the big girl's thread you realise that dates are guesstimates! Some give birth at only 36 weeks, some are induced at 42 weeks so just move aorund the threads and post when and where you want :D

  • Thanks all for the thoughts on the cramps, they seem to come and go and not be happening at the moment which is good. Got my booking in date with the midwife for 22nd September now which I'm happy about (6+1 then), now I just need to work on getting my 12 week scan on the 13th November. Due to a holiday that we have booked this is the only date that you can have it done that I am in the country !. I'll be too early before we go and too late if they leave it any later. I'm not convinced the NHS is going to be quite that flexible and accommodating so I might have to book something privately as a back up.
  • i think i read somewhere that pear juice is good for constipation too.

Anyone feeling extra sensitive visually? There's a big stripy mat at the entrance of GP surgery and it really made my eyes go funny. And certain games on iPad that have movement, I just can't look at the screen!!!

Oh, and I'm hating speed bumps!!!!!

Had a private scan today as NHS too busy to do early one.

No heartbeat. Empty sack measuring 6 weeks. They asked if I could be earlier than 10 weeks but I doubt it.

Next step EPU I guess but I think this is the end of the road for me and bean. Gutted.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • Thanks for the suggestions about how to ease constipation - I can't say that any of them sound very appealing though :p I also read that our pregnancy vitamins can actually cause it, so I'm going to swap my Pregnacare for Seven Seas and see if that has an effect.

Yesterday evening was the worse I've had, I had constant aches and cramps so I had to go to bed with a water bottle! That's another thing that there are differing opinions on... some say you shouldn't use a hot water bottle, others say its fine. I filled mine with warm water not scalding hot and placed it below hip level where the cramps were strongest and fell asleep that way, otherwise I don't think I would have! All gone this morning though, so hopefully that's the worst of it. I suppose at least the good thing for me is that I'm not off food at all.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend ladies :)

Huge hugs to you pink, how absolutely awful for you :(:(:( I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope its not too long before you can get seen at the EPU to get a decision either way as soon as possible. Sending positive thoughts to you x
  • Oh no Pinkshoes, so so sorry to hear that :( maybe you can self refer to your EPU so you don't have to wait all weekend. Might be worth a call if you feel up to it or ask your OH to call. I'd assume they'd do their own scan first just to check and be sure. Thinking of you, look after yourself x
