  • Evening all

Hope you had a lovely weekend. Mine was unproductive. We tried to do so much but were thwarted at every turn (collect curtains - not delivered; shopping - forgot what we were supposed to buy; exercising - computer crashed). So I basically slept all weekend and am still exhausted.

Jovie - brown blood is supposed to be old blood. I've bled a lot in this pregnancy (red and pink) and it can be scary as heck. I know it's an impossible task but try not to worry - it won't help you or bub at all. Go see your GP and see what they say. The best thing I did was take a photo of the toilet paper as this gave me something to show doctors. Bit gross but easier than explaining it.

Tilly - yep, consultant led because of the twins. There seem to be a few more appointments too which should be fun.

Have my next scan on Thursday then Monday. These will be my 12week scans - really anxious, just hope they are both ok.
  • I haven't posted on this thread for a while, but I've been keeping up with your posts. I hope everyone is well today :)

I've just had my first doctor's appointment, and all he did was sort out a letter to be sent to the midwife unit at the hospital, and said I should get an appointment for a scan/booking when I'm about 12-14 weeks. That seems ages away (I'm only about 9 weeks now!), but he said they "don't rush things" when it's not your first baby and you've had no complications before.

I wanted a homebirth for my DS, but I really didn't like the community midwife they put in charge of my care. She acted as though it would be an inconvenience for her, and kept telling me scare stories of babies that had been born in the hospital that had needed urgent care after birth (they might have been high-risk pregnancies though) and in the end I said no, as I simply didn't want her there! I would consider it this time, but I do have a lovely midwife unit at our nearest hospital, which apparently is rarely full (my only worry!), with birth pools, huge baths and cosy rooms etc. Because it wasn't busy last time I was in, I had a midwife with me the whole time. Plus, we rent our house and I don't "love" it as a place to give birth - the clutter and toy/clothes/craft mess would not help me during labour :o and we have nowhere to put a birth pool. I think I will be happy with the hospital.

I loved the hypnobirthing CD, it really did help me relax about the whole idea of giving birth. I didn't listen to it during labour, but at no point did I panic or get scared that I was out of my depth (I think...memories are vague...), but I'd really recommend it to anyone even if you think you want an epidural anyway.

  • Hi Gayleygoo. I was interested to read your comments on home birthing and hypno birthing. When did you start listening to your hypno birthing CD? I guess it's way to early now but maybe in the New Year?

Princess Kate - I see news of your pregnancy is in the media ;) I haven't seen when she's due, not sure that they've announced that, but I'd guess she's not much beyond 12 weeks.

As for me, my scan this morning was very quick but all looked good so that was a relief - just one baby, in the right place, with a heartbeat and measuring to my dates :) I'm back next Monday to see a sonographer for my 12 week scan and the Monday after to see the consultant again. I'm going to be such a regular at my hospital!
  • :hello: Hi to all newbies, those that want to be added to lists I will do an update when I get home this evening.

Glad to hear from you gayleygoo, I was wondering the other day where you had gone and had my fingers crossed everything was ok. I hope you get a scan date soon.

In other news, the real Princess Kate is expecting as well as our own MSR princess! Exciting news for the royals, I wonder if she suffers badly with sickness again. Hope you all have a lovely week!

    !

Tilly, they have said she is less than 12 weeks but have had to announce it early because she has such bad mourning sickness and therefore she has had to cancel her prior engagements. This is exactly what happened last time. They announced before 12 weeks as she was in hospital and, as with the royal family, these things get noticed very quickly. It means that a few of us here will probably be due a similar time to her. They never announced her due date last time, it was all speculations, so I doubt they will gain this time round.
  • Hi Milly, I didn't realise it was the same this time (i.e. the morning sickness). I feel bad for her, it can't be nice having the whole world know your personal business at such an early stage but I guess at least by announcing you end any speculation. Just seen Una from the Saturdays has announced she's expecting another baby too. Seems to be the day for it!
  • The "real" princess Kate is said to be due April 2015, just like me! I've always loved her, feel sorry for her suffering again but it's all signs of a healthy pregnancy, doesn't feel that way at the time I'm sure!
  • Tilly I must have posted just after you, apologies for the very similar post! Pleased that your scan went well today and you get to see baby next week again :)

RE: non-MSE Princess Kate telling the world she is pregnant at less than 12 weeks - this just brings up the whole debate again about waiting for 12 weeks to tell people! If it's good enough for the Princess...

As promised, an updated list to follow. Sorry for the delay, I'll try and do it in future so we have one for reference on each page :)

  • Think I might miss out on a silver coin for my baby being born same time as princesses hehe as ours will most likely be a May baby, knowing me late like my first.

Re epidurals, I had one with my first and was told it was a mobile epidural only to find out when it was done I was paralysed from the waste down. So check your hospital does mobile epidurals if this is what you want. I was told the wrong information by a bank midwife.

5 weeks tomorrow, still feels like ridiculously early days, going to keep baby a secret till after scan so ages to wait.

Kira- must be really difficult with such obvious sickness to keep it quiet, maybe it will be better this time. My sickness this time around isn't as bad, I hope it continues that way.
