Amazing news. Hopefully, help put your mind at ease a little knowing this can all be discussed much sooner.0 -
hi everyone! 6+5 woohoo!
being bloated must just be a symptom because even I'm struggling to fit into clothes and I've lost weight! I reckon I've lost about 8lbs over the last couple of weeks but my tummy is still sticking out!!! (I was only a size 12) I also don't like any waist-bands across my tummy so am mainly wearing loose dresses - can just about get away with no tights at the mo!
We have told a few people - I told people at work (I work as secretary for nurses) - big relief as I'm far worse in the mornings so I don't have to pretend I'm ok - and I can go in a bit later if I'm feeling particularly rough so long as I make the time back. They wouldn't meet any of our family/friends so it doesn't matter in that sense.
We told my mum because we went to see her for her birthday - I'm pretty sure she would have guessed anyway! We then told one of my brothers and sister-in-law because she's just had a baby (her 3rd) and I had always said I would go and stay and help as I did with her others but I just couldn't face it and probably wouldn't have been much help anyway. They were worried that they had offended us somehow when I cancelled so I had to tell them! I'm really close to them so it was nice and she said I can have her maternity stuff!!
I still haven't told my other brother and his family though and we haven't told any of OH's family. His mum has a birthday in October and hopefully we'll have our 12 week scan photos by then so we plan to send that as a little pressie for her. Once one person knows in his family, everyone will know so we're just holding off for as long as possible with them! (I'm not particularly close with any of them)
My best friend from uni is coming to stay in September so I'll tell her then. OH has told a couple of guys - he just didn't want to keep the news to himself! And we know we can trust them to keep it secret until other people know.
It sounds a lot but isn't really and I guess they are all people I would want to know if anything bad happened.
At the end of the day, it's what you feel comfortable with and I certainly wouldn't expect people to tell or not tell until they're ready. Everyone we've told have been really supportive and know not to tell anyone else - and they haven't (so far!!)
Sorry for the waffle!!!
Yesterday I wasn't sick and I thought "hooray" and then today I've been sick rather a lot
Huge hugs for anyone else feeling sick/miserable/unsure/worried/etc.Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock0 -

Great news! It's not nice having to be pushy, not in my nature, but it seems the only way to be heard in the n h s. Hello everyone, I'd like to join the thread if you'll have me?!
Just got our BFP this morning, didn't believe it so I took the two tests I had at home and then went straight to the pharmacy for a digital!
We've been trying overall for about 18 months but had a 6 month break as we got engaged at Christmas and are getting married on 10/10/14 and I didn't really want to be a heavily pregnant bride.
Bit confused about how you work out how many weeks you are, my last period started on 23rd July and I reckon we probably conceived on 3rd August. Would somebody be able to advise?
Booked in to see the midwife on Sept 16th - can't wait!
Think we're going to tell parents after we've seen the midwife and possibly wait until after 12 weeks to tell everybody else, mainly because we want to get the wedding out of the way too before sharing our new news!
Looking forward to chatting with everyone.

Congratulations jovie, if you google due date calculators there's loads that can work it out. They ask for the 1st date of your last period & your average cycle length.0

Im a bit confused with the weeks too as my last period started on the 16th of July so my estimated due date is April 2015 , however we didnt try until the 28th , i guess they just do a estimate and you find out at the first scan ?

Congrats to you too! Lots of newbies recently! We're all here to talk to & listen, it's such an exciting but also scary time full of new aches, pains & feelings & it really helps to have some other ladies in the same position to talk to. x0

hi jovie and midnight ninja!!!! :hello:
yes, it's kind of strange that you are counted as being pregnant even when you are on your period!!! So for me, the first day of my last period was 12th July (average cycle length 28 days) so my approx due date is 18th April 2015.
At the 12 week scan that date may tweak a bit either side!
