betti911 & millysg1 - i'm glad it is not just me feeling a bit lost. I am on a lot of strong medication due to a chronic condition I have including a 8 weekly infusion of strong drugs and my specialist has done nothing to help me apart from send me an email 2 weeks ago saying "shall we discuss the pros and cons of your current medication during pregnancy?" to which I replied "yes! when can we speak?" no reply then a letter moving my appointment with him from October to December! I emailed him again a week ago saying I really don't know if I should take these tablets at the moment and he has not responded.
my GP marked all my paperwork to the hospital in red pen with stars all over the form saying high risk but they don't seem to think I am.
I just worry pumping myself full of drugs is only going to end badly!
Roll on the 12 week scan I say!!0 -
Milly I was referred for consultant lead care by my doctor after various midwives failed to realise that my little girl had stopped growing at 35 weeks. She survived and us fine now although it has caused no end of worry. I also had pre eclampsia.
Apparently a midwife looked at my file for my second pregnancy and referred me to midwife lead care. Hospital changed it back to consultant lead after my family doctor and I kicked up a fuss. I have put in a complaint as the whole situation has made me really stressed. I really don't think the system is very well organised. It has certainty let me down.
Wow Betti. That does sound like a stressful situation. You say you have a appointment with a consultant next week? At least now its heading in the right direction but I can see how worrying it can be.0 -

Oh CrazyDaisyDee another stressful and worrying situation. Hopefully, the fact the specialist isn't too worried, means there isn't too much to worry about! Do you not have a phone number you could call?0 -
That's a good point milly I suppose if he isn't stressing maybe I shouldn't be. Yes tried calling him, in fairness he is really busy and all over the place most of the time. But its not helping my worrying.
I have decided to wait until my scan before I contact him again. I probably will not continue the infusion if all is well at the scan so I can stop worrying about that factor. Unless he thinks it will make matters worse. Lets see!
I really is a worry this being preggers lark isn't it!0 -
betti it sounds like you are having as much fun as me! Hugs to you0

I would chase this up again. Honestly I had to argue with the hospital to get the type of care I was assured by my family doctor and after my previous pregnancy would be automatically offered to me.
If I learned one thing from my previous pregnancy it was that priority seems to be given to the patients who insist they need to be seen.Jan 1st 07 Car loan £4830.46@12% Personal Loan £11,517@8% variable Overdraft £1500 July 2009Halifax-£0Debt free date 14th July 2009 :j0 -
Your right betti thanks, I have just sent him another email (can't call as I am at work) copying his nurse in too saying I am completely freaking out having googled the impact of my medication on pregnancy and if I don't hear from him I might end up just stopping all medication totally as it is causing me a lot of worry. Hopefully he might realise I am not just being silly and get in touch now (fingers crossed).0

Hi CrazyDaisyDee!
Woah-Woah Twins??? I think I am having a singleton but I will know for definite at the 12 week scanI had IVF and only had one embryo put back so I will be super surprised if it is twinnies
I'm really sorry to hear about your worries over the medication and the consultants poor response. I have a minor condition that is affected by pregnancy and I fear that although I have been reassured that I will get 'special care' when I get pregnant, I haven't heard anything back yet. I have my midwife appointment tomorrow, so I am hoping that she will trigger things off.
My NHS scan date 03/10/14 at which point I would be 14 weeks which is another reason why I have transferred to the One to One midwives as they can get me a scan on or around 12 weeks, I'm too impatient to wait any longer.
Is anyone else showing yet? My stomach is already much bigger, it looks like spare tyre so it may just be from overeating but I have only gained a pound since before conceiving, yet I can no longer comfortably fit in jeans or skirts - so I am using bobbles in the buttonholes to elongate the opening. I had an IVF complication called OHSS which makes your ovaries swell up and at my 7 wk scan they were still filled with fluid so I am hoping that they will subside by 12 weeks (when I believe they 'switch off' as the pregnancy takes over).
Either way, people at work are definitely going to guess pretty soon, so I need that scan asap to inform them before they ask!!0 -
sorry danielly, oh wow sorry. I must had misread that you were having twins, sorry about that, ha ha
I am the same as you, huge tummy yet only 1lb up on the scales. Struggling to find anything that fits (and hides it) for work.
Fun times0 -
Hi ladies.
Sorry to hear some of you are struggling with getting MW, scans, doctors involved. It's all scary enough without the extra stresses.
We have only told 2 friends but they were supportive of us when we lost the last one and we realised that if that happened again it would be great to have them for support. I have also told 1 colleagues but that's because with all the bleeding and being completely stressed and distracted I have needed the support.
I also probably won't be announcing on FB at all. If people ask on FB I will respond but as it took us a long time to get here and I know how difficult it was for me to see some announcements on FB, so probably won't do it.
My colleague pointed out that I am starting to show a little already. Really think its just that I'm eating too much. But I will blame it on twins. Hehe. They are already being blamed for many things .....0
