  • In the clinic I had my treatment at it's £75, they do them from 6.5 weeks onwards to ensure you hear a heartbeat. As long as all is well. Think they're all pretty much that but I couldn't imagine waiting until 12 weeks, or longer, to know everything is ok.

The clinic here does private early scans for a whopping £140, one of the reasons I didn't have an early one. I did enquire at one point but there was a waiting list of more than a week and my 12 week scan was the week after anyway. I might have considered it if it was cheaper.

I found the wait difficult to begin with but I think pregnancy is all about waiting so just got used to it, now I've had it I'm counting down the weeks til my 20 week scan and feeling like that will take forever too.

My private scan cost £60 and included 4 printed pictures, availbale from 7-12 weeks.

The next one they offer is a sexing scan from 16-22 weeks for £55.

  • Wow, a page and a half of posts to get through!!

We paid £99 for our private scan which is this time next week (eek!). We chose to have it for peace of mind as we didn't know how long we would have to wait until the NHS one, plus - to answer milly's question - we wanted to see it ourselves before telling people!

Providing all goes well next week, we are planning on telling my parents immediately, and I think I'll be 7 weeks. I think I've mentioned on here before but they are currently staying with us and it's been really hard keeping quiet! We'll then tell my brother and sister and my grandparents, but will probably wait until at least 12 weeks before telling friends etc. That's the plan anyways. Don't know how we'll break the news to OH's parents - I actually don't even want to but that's a story for another day! Let's just say we're not close, and a grandchild for them won't change that.

As for Facebook, I want to leave it as late as possible but I'm sure I will do a general announcement... I'm on it quite a lot :o

In other news, I went for my first midwife appointment today, :) I thought it was my booking appointment but she's booked me in to see her again in a couple of weeks. She said she would come to my house for it but the day she gave was before our private scan, so to avoid telling my parents - which would have been awkward trying to get them out the house for an hour! - I'm going to the hospital for it. I'm also booked in for a 12 week scan too. All went well, she just took down my info and a bit of background stuff plus I had some bloods taken so it's the private scan next... can't bloomin' wait!!! :D

    Afternoon ladies,

We have told our two friends (a couple) who we are really close to. They are really supportive and were fantastic when I miscarried last time. Plus I've told a work colleague because of the bleeding.

AFM - I've started spotting again. It started on Monday and is continuing. This is the longest it's lasted before. Plus my breasts no longer hurt (since yesterday). I'm really worried and upset I've lost them both.
I received my midwife appointment date today - it's not till the 3/9 so two weeks away.
I also have a private scan booked for the 11th September. But with the bleeding this all feels unnecessary now.

I don't know what to do. I know at this stage nothing can affect the outcome but I am so sad and upset. I was so excited having seen the heart beats and now it feels like it's all over.

Sorry to be a downer but I'm driving myself crazy

A midwife appointment at 7 weeks is great. I dont get to meet anyone till 10 weeks. i think waiting for that is more annoying than waiting for 12 weeks until a scan. Though, i think thats because i never new you could do these earlier scans so always accepted i wouldnt until 12 weeks but i did think i would see a MW or GP before 10 weeks.

Just a quick update for me before I move over to the next thread up:

Scan today was perfect! Everything is measuring perfectly, and they have said that I'm 13+1 today, which makes my EDD 24th Feb now!
Baby yawned twice and had the hiccups the entire scan.

We bought two scan photos, but they are quite similar, so I'll just be posting the one for everyone to oogle. :D

Baby is yawning in the photo, head is on the right and nose is pointing up for directional stuffs. :)

  • Hi ladies, just a quick one as the Bake Off is on ;) but just wanted to say a big congrats to Mrs TM! Lovely pic. Hopefully see you on the next thread in a few weeks time

And Carrot, I'd say go to your GP, get an emergency appointment this week if you can. It's not good for your mental state as much as anything to be waiting and worrying for so long.

If you don't mind me asking is the blood red or brown? Is it clotty? I know it's a bit gross but I'd take photos of toilet paper after wiping or pads if it's that bad to show your GP and I think they will take you more seriously then, I know my midwife did when I showed her pics.

I hope you don't think I'm being pushy, just worried about you. Take care of yourself x
  • thinking of you carrot :(

    Congrats Mrs TM :)
